The only "bump" in October attendence is the Columbus Day weekend. Other than that (and even that's not much) attendence is pretty even (and low) during October.
We usually go to WDW at the end of October. This year we decided on December to see the Christmas decorations. October is a great time to visit. The weather is nice and attendance is low. We have found that most rides have about a 15 minute wait. On our last trip, we walked right on Space Mountain with no wait, it was great.
We have gone to WDW during the last weeks of Oct. for the past 5 years. The crowd levels have always been manageable to low. The weather has always been great, with the exception of last year when Hurricane Wilma decided to visit. It had no effect on the parks and property but after it left, it was cooler than usual.
Be sure to take in Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party if you get a chance, its the highlight of that time at Disney. Also if you plan to do a water park, one of them is usually closed for refurbishment. Check the refurbishment schedule to see which one it will be this year....
