Hi

We are looking to book a holiday for next year in October, unfortunately it will have to be through the school hol.

What is the weather like? Crowds? Is all the water parks open?

I usually go either summer or May, but we will have young toddlers with us, didnt want the heat of the summer.

I am looking to book the BA flight independtly and the Movies via disney.co.uk. We managed to get it cheaper than brochure prices.

Cant wait to book it.

Love

October is our favourite time to visit :teeth:

We've vsiited in early Jan, both ends of March, early April, second half of Oct, early Nov and late Dec - October is always our favourite.

Daytimes are usually warm / very warm and can be HOT, early mornings and evenings are still warm. T-shirts and shorts from getting up to going to bed :). We've never experienced prolonged rain during October in Florida, although it is still technically the end of the hurricane season, and we've had a few days of very high winds and rain a couple of trips. On the whole we've had dry, warm weather for the majority of the time in October.

Crowds are historically not too bad, although the Food and Wine Festival is getting increasingly popular and does add to crowds in Epcot especially.

At least one Disney water park will be open - they stagger the closing of BB and TL for maintenance, but will have one open.

Also, if you're travelling at half-term, you may find you need to book your flights well in advance, as demand is high!

We’ve only ever been in Oct so can’t compare the weather or crowds to any other time. Both times we’ve gone it has definitely been shorts and t-shirt weather. Last year we used our cardies in the evenings a couple of times due to a dip in temperature but it was still warm (the cardies are really only for the restaurants as the air con can be a bit brutal in some). Last year we had a bit more rain than the previous time but nothing major and mostly in the late evening.

The crowds are manageable especially when you make good use of FP however we did find Epcot last year to be particularly busy and we didn’t manage half the things we wanted to do.

We’re going back again this Oct for the last time as we won’t be able to take our oldest DD out of school anymore so from now on it will probably be the summer for us which I’m not looking forward to.

Hi

Thanks for all your information.

Sounds like the best time to go in School hols. Our dd can have a week extra off then, so we though it would be much better than summer.

Thanks again, will be looking to book accomodation tomorrow and the flights as soon as they are avail.

Thanks

Michelle

We have been twice in October. The first time was back in 1997 and we were a bit 'green' (pre-DIS) and stayed on I-Drive. Crowds were not too bad as far as I can recall.
The second time we went was in October 2001 - four weeks after 9-11. The place was almost empty and the longest we waited in line was 10 minutes!

Weather was mostly sunny and hot during the day and nice and warm at night. We had a few days that were clowdy with the odd shower, and a couple of days that were quite cool and a bit drizzly.

Hi, We went to Florida first time last 2nd half Oct last year. We decided it would be too hot during the summer. The kids only missed 1 week off sch, only problem was that we got back on the 31st and had lots of trick or treaters doing their rounds that night!

We enjoyed our holiday so much, (and yes the weather was still very hot)we have already booked our villa for next Oct and are taking the grandpa & grandma along too!

Hi Michelle  and welcome to the DIS!

My first visit was October 2002 and we are booked againn for October next year.
The weather on our first trip was excellent. In the 80's every day.
We had rain on two nights but it was after the parks were closing so didn't affect us too much.
The queues were not too bad, the longest we had to wait was about 30 minutes and this was more to do with rides breaking down.
TL and BB were both open for the duration of our stay.
There are also added attractions in the parks in the lead up to hallowe'en like MNSSHP, Shamu's spooktacular and Universal is transformed for it's horror nights although the latter can be a bit too much for kids.
All in all, October was perfect for us hence the timing of our second once in a lifetime holiday.
