ok...we've been in summer and in September and in Winter but never Fall/October. I live in Texas and the heat index lately has been up to 118. One morning when a 'cool front' came through the morning temp was 86. They say that Oct. averages 65-85 so I ran outside to feel this 'cold' weather and was definitely shorts weather.

My Texas mind cannot recall what 65 in the morning feels like :confused3 .

I don't want to pack change of clothes etc for the day. Is is too cold to start out on shorts in the morning? We have DS4 and DS1. Or too hot in the day to be in jeans?

Any advice on how you've packed for October!!

Thanks

It is too warm to wear jeans all day in October. I grew up in Flordia and as a kid remember spending many Halloweens and Thanksgivings in shorts. For averages you can check out www.weather.com type in Orlando, Fl and it will even tell you rainfall averages and temps both low and high by day historically.

Have a great time!!!!

I live in Fl and October mornings/evenings can be a tad bit chilly for me but again, I'm so used to hot weather that the least cold snap bothers me. I can tell you that sometimes it also depends on how cold the fronts are that time of year. A few years back I went to MNSSHP and it was freezing, down in the 50's or low 60's I think. Then the next year it was cool at night, but not cold enough for me to need a jacket.

It warms up very fast that time of year, even when the mornings are cool so I think you will be fine there. If you plan on going to MNSSHP or staying out late you might want to bring a light sweater or jacket for everyone just in case. Even a blanket to drape over the little ones in a stroller should be fine. Other than that, it will be hot during the day and summer attire should be okay.

If it were me, DH and I would begin the "chilly" day in shorts knowing it would warm up... and for the little tots, I would bring a light blanket. That's what we did last time. DD could cover up with the blanket when she was chilly, then we could take it off of her once it warmed up, roll it up, and put it in the stroller. It also doubles beautifully as a drape for over ther stroller should your little one nap in it during the afternoon! :thumbsup2

We went the first week in October last year and it was HOT - upper 90's all week with tons of humitidy. Of course, we are from Iowa, so the heat really hit us hard.

We went in October last year and we had a couple 90 degree days. Every day was HOT HOT HOT and I wore short and a t-shirt every day.

We went last October and it was HOT. We were there the second week of October and all we wore were shorts--my four kids were just fine, too. I don't think they were ever chilly at all, even in the early morning hours. We will be there during the same time frame this fall, and I plan to just take shorts for everyone.

For what it's worth, we're also in Texas, so I understand the kind of heat you are talking about. It was 111 on my patio yesterday!

October's still HOT...
I remember going to MNSSHP (mickey's halloween party), and my boys had to take off their costumes (long sleeves, long pants) because they were SWEATING so much... and that was just in the EVENING!

It starts to cool off in mid November.
