We are going mid Oct and renting a villa. Is it worth getting pool heating? I've been told the villa we want is South facing. We will be spending quite a bit of time in it with a 5 year old
Thanks

we went last october 26th and the pool was cold- too cold to go into.
i think i have read that pool heating is advisable from october- april.
hope this helps.:)

hi

when we went in october a while ago now, we went to one of the water parks and it was freezing, my little boy was shivering so we decided not to bother, so i would say yes to pool heating.

I would say it's 50/50 on the pool and can depend on the quality of the heating at the villa.
Think I would either play safe and book pool heating or ask the owner if there is a facility to contact the Management Company when you are out there if you feel the water is not warm enough. They could then switch on for you after payment etc

Definitely better to have south facing.

??? we go on the 11th oct, last time the weather was really hot and we were glad we had no pool heat, now you have me worried.:confused3

I think April and October are borderline months.
Some would choose pool heating and others would not.

It can vary depending on the pool, strange though that sounds, we have stayed in villas where the heating has been great, one or two where you wondered if it was actually switched on.

The option to decide when you get out there, if available from the owner, is useful as you can just contact the Management Company and arrange switch on.
Personally I would probably go for pool heating to be safe but many wouldn't bother.

Definatley worth heating the pool, we do even in May! though it's like getting into a warm bath during the day, it's great at night and we find we get our money's worth!

The general rule of thumb is that April to September are OK without pool heat.
I would have pool heat in October. Does the pool have a blanket? If so, if you put it on at night, it will keep the pool lovely and warm for the early morning dips!
I would certainly recommend it especially with a 5 yr old.

Hiya,

this april was COLD without pool heat (Virgin don't arrange heating in advance it starts the day you see the villa agent) we tried before they switched it on and after - before was COLD - after was LOVELY - especially in the dark evenings...
