What did you pack?? As far as shorts/pants?? I know its pretty warm in day but cool at night. But did you pack shorts or should I just stick to pants for dd who will be 2 years 3 months at the time we go?? I think pants and jacket for when it cools of might be best right? Plus it helps shade the sun off her legs too.

I'm so excited for our trip. I really wish we could go in July for her birthday but that is too soon we wouldn't be able to afford it. My dad lives 45 minutes south of WDW so we will be staying there and he hasn't met the little critter as he lovingly calls her. :rolleyes1

We probably will go to the beach if there is a warmer day. May or may not go in water but just to walk around and look. I know the gulf side is warmer and would probably be fine for October though.

I'd pack only a couple pair of pants as it is going to be hot during the day. Yes, it will be cool at night but you can probably get away with short and a jacket in the evening too.

Are you going in early or late October? We were there in early October one year and it was pretty warm during the days and not that cool at night, we needed a very light jacket a couple of times. I remember it was in the 80's most of the days and down to the mid-60's at night but humid. We also had some good rainstorms on 2 of the days we were there.

We also visited Palm Harbor, FL and enjoyed the Gulf there, I remember the water temp to be pretty decent-maybe mid to upper 70's--DS & DH went for a swim--lots of fun.

Enjoy your trip, I'm sure your Dad will have a blast with his little critter :teeth: .

Hey, welovedis, we live in Palm Harbor! I must be spoiled, I would never swim in the gulf in October!

There is usually a cold snap (well cold for Florida) in late October and you might need a couple of pairs of pants and a light jacket at night, but I think shorts during the day would be fine for a two year old.

Both times we went in October, we wore tanks and shorts during the day, and maybe a sweatshirt at night, and not every night. I did bring pants for my little one, but being from the Chicago area, 60s at night is still warm ;)

Wow, small world. From my best recollection we stayed at a Best Western when we were there, it was a nice place and we liked the atmosphere of the town. My DH always says it is a place he'd considered settling if we ever moved to FL! Do you like the town/schools? Just curious--you never know when the right time to move will come! :)

I agree that it must be different living down there, it seemed so hot to us but the locals were complaining it was too cold! :teeth:

welovedis: We love it here. I have never lived outside of Florida so I might be biased, but I do like it here better than the other places in Florida we have lived. The schools are excellent and there are lots of things for the kids to do. I love how we can be sitting around on the weekend and my husband will decide to take my five year old to a professional baseball game, or to the beach, or fishing, or whatever. There is a lot of fun to be had. And Disney is only an hour and an half away! :earsboy:

I think it really just depends on which part of October. We are going the first week of October and I plan on mainly bringing shorts.I will probably pack a couple fo pairs of jeans and a light jacket for everyone but I doubt we will use them.Alot of times its still humid at night in October.

Thanks everyone. :sunny: :cool1: It will probably be early October. Mid October is latest it would be. I'm not sure on the week yet. I have to bug dh to figure out his hire date to know when his vacation pay will be available. :rotfl:

P.S. We live in Arizona so our temps are pretty close to the same that time of year. She is outdoors now in shorts and we are 80's in day with 60's in the evenings. :) So she probably would be fine in some shorts I'm guessing. :) She is like daddy and likes to be cool.

Oh gee. We decided on last week of October last night. My brother is going too possibly both of my brothers(if the other one keeps his job that is) and he finally said okay this is the weeks that would be good. Either first or last and first we don't know if my husband will have his vacation pay yet.

I hope its not too cold in late October. I think might be low 80's maybe high 70's which is what we mostly have now where we are and dd is wearing shorts so I think yeah I'll pack some pants and some shorts, and sweaters/jackets of course.
