October or November 2012?

We are looking to visit Disneyland and, of course, Cars Land, which I'm sure is going to be NUTS sometime mid-October to mid-November this fall. Any predictions on when the "best" week (or at least five-day stretch) might be, (low) crowds-wise.

We've been to Disneyland before, but only for a day trip and never to California Adventure at all. (I went as a kid for a bit longer, but that was 25 years ago.)

I know everything is a bit up in the air now, in terms of projections, since Cars Land has yet to open, but if any Disneyland experts have some good advice to offer, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!

We are planning on going Oct. 5-14, 2012, so how about you go in November? :lmao:

We are hoping that by the time we go in early October that the crowds won't be "opening date" crazy!:goodvibes

Have a great trip!:thumbsup2

We were hoping it won't be so "nuts" by then with kids back in school. There are some threads going on right now that discuss school fall breaks for various states, holidays, etc. but we still haven't figured out which week will be the lowest attendance.

Then there are all the nighttime Halloween parties in Oct.

Hopefully they won't shut down anything in Carsland the first week in Nov. to do a quick refurb from the initial summer run. I haven't heard that but I've thought if they needed to do some tweaks, either Sept. when kids are back in school or first week of Nov. are traditionally slower and more likely to have refurbs. The idea makes me nervous to book the beginning of Nov.

We are thinking of either one of the last two weeks of Oct. or the first week of Nov. I have some time before making reservations but not a whole lot since I'll probably book hotel and air three months prior.

We are going primarily for Carsland, new dining places in DCA and to see WoC. We went this month and had several days in the parks and so we want to see what we missed come this fall.

If anyone has recommendations on the three weeks we are looking at, I'd love to hear it. I'm interested to get some good ideas too since I'll have to make a decision soon.

The usual crowds will be fairly low - as long as you avoid any major holidays. And I did notice on Disneyland events page that they have 'unofficial' gay days October 7-9. Don't know what kind of impact that has on the parks though.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. CARSLAND will probably be a busy section for the next year or so, but the rest of the parks should be fine :)

October used to be low crowds, but don't seem to be anymore due to the Halloween Trick or Treat Parties. I like early November now.

Agree with ACDSNY. We usually go sometime late Sept-early November, and get our traditional group pic with the giant Mickey pumpkin.

The last few years October, from beginning to end has gotten much busier, especially on the Halloween Party nights (I think some people take off early and come in on an AP, then stay on a Halloween Party ticket).

Go in early November if you want the lowest crowds of those two months. One year we arrived on the morning after trick-or-treating then driving down from NorCal and the parks were pleasantly empty, many rides were walk-on.

LOL, I was going to suggest going in October because we are going in November! :lmao::lmao:

Our trip in 2008 coincided with Gay Days. It wasn't too bad, except on the weekends. It was actually pretty nice on the weekdays. Except the day of Miley Cyrus' Sweet 16th.

But, the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday were great. We're actually looking at going back the same week again this year.

I vote for closer to mid November so you can see the park with all its Christmans finery!
