We need to book our honeymoon flights for our honeymoon we need to fly out on the 22nd October 2012 and return on the 17th November 2012.

We have a lot of miles with Virgin Atlantic but dont know how helpfull these will actually be as the prices atm seem so high with Virgin, we have found flights for 1,161 direct for the two of us and are really unsure as to wether we should book now or wait for Jan Sales!!

We would love to go premium economy but money is tight, the above is in economy and once booked thats it!! Do you think we should book the flights now or wit til January??

Thanks for all your help!!

Is that with BA? (£1,161) VA site only goes upto the 9th Nov yet, its too early for the 17th.
You really need to wait for VA to release their prices then make a choice, I wouldn't rush into it myself.

My dates have just been released and are £630 for indirect from Manchester - i've held off for now.

Virgin had some dates for £630 cheapest Wed to Wed.

Do you think BA will get any cheeper in January and do you think Virgin will be comparable (we would rather fly from Manchester than london you see as our wedding venue is in yorkshire)

thanks for all your help!!

No-one can predict flight prices any more.
Have you ever flown from London? I have about 5 or 6 times and can tell you its a nightmare coming home after a 8 hour flight then driving 3 hours back to Yorkshire.
If the savings are big enough then yes its worth it but there is no way I would take London flights so far out without trying for a MAN option.

I Know the worst part is we live in the Isle of Man so have to get another flight home!!

I just dont wanna have to spend our first day as man and wife travelling down from Yorkshire to London unless the price is really cheep!!

Im going to wait till Jan or whenever the Jan sales come out and hope for the best, we have eveything else booked just need flights lol

Argh these prices are still so bad :( can't believe that's in-direct!!!!
:scared1:I'm so terrified that the flight prices won't come down for our holiday in September we fly on the 25 but our actual booked accommodation isn't till the 1st October at SSR we just wanted to have a few days at universal first so if i have to be ill be flexiable with dates either side I'm praying that these prices come down as I have to pay 3adults 3 kids!! I'm paying off the holiday instead right now going that when I've nearly paid it I can save quick for the flights, still think I should save for flights so I have the money so maybe after xmas I'll put money aside for flights instead.

If you want a realy good laugh try booking a direct flight with Virgin from Glasgow, just hold on to your fillings!:rotfl:
We boooked BA via LGW for the 8th October, almost half the price.

Money is sat in the account but I'd prefer a figure nearer to £500 before I book! May be wishful thinking - prices are

Ideally want to go 18th October.

BA prices seem better than Virgin. Some of Virgin's prices are crazy. I paid £2796 for 3 adults and 2 children Virgin Man-Mco 29th Oct-12th Nov. Booked at the beginning of this year. I know I will keep checking flight prices, even though I shouldn't.:confused3

Just checked BA for my dates and it's under £2500 :(

The Monday flights are the best prices at the moment - i'm considering shifting our dates to Mon 22nd - 5th but means 2 days less there.

I just checked our prices again and they have gone up, only to 1,221. Im still going to wait for the jan sales i think, im hoping they will be a cheeper then!! Fingers crossed for us all!!

I just managed to book flights with points - Oct 15-29 and got free upgrade to PE. There are some Virgin points flights out there, you just need to keep an eye out.

When you say free do you mean with the 20,000 miles flying club points? If so did you have to book a flexible fayre? We have around 30,000 points each but as we are fixed on dates im not sure how much help they will be? Its a shame cause we have been collecting them for our honeymoon and can only aford to pay economy but would love to fly premium!!

Taken the plunge and booked tonight with delta via Atlanta from Manchester. Great flight times and cost £1500 for the 3 of us - now need to stop checking!

Changed dates to Monday 22nd October - Monday 5th November.

I Just phoned up to talk to Virgin and aparantly on the 22nd October and returning on the 10th November there are no miles flights available from Manchester or London and when i say no miles they said there was no M&M, no upgrades, no purley Miles or anything at all with miles!!! :scared1:

Dont worry thats totally normal with Virgin. If you phone they always seem to tell you that they are all released 11 months out. Which is total rubbish. Sometimes they dont release any for a while and other times they will come out bang on 11 months.

Take my trip in May for example, for weeks i was told they had no reward seats left, no m+m or anything. I kept an eye on them and several weeks later - there they were. Incidentally another few weeks later they had a reward seat sale and i managed to get an economy seat for £275pp + 25,000 miles. So much for being "sold out".

Best bet is to keep checking online atleast once a day. Twice a day if you can as sometimes ive checked in the mornings and nothings been there, and then my husbands checked in the afternoon and they have been added.

It is difficult, as i know for such an important trip your keen to get things booked as soon as possible but you do have plenty of time so definately wait a little while and keep an eye on things.

Just booked our Virgin flights to Miami for Oct 21 - Nov 02, after a frustrating cat and mouse game of prices up and down and miles+money availability coming and going... In the end combined 3 m+m seats and one 'normal' price one, using an £80 voucher I had been sent as compensation for previous problems...
Glad to have that over with :sad2:
