I was looking at park hours for last year during October and had a question. It showed that the first week had some days during the week, like a Thursday being open until Midnight. Did that have anything to do with the Columbus Day Holiday?

Going to a conference in San Diego on October 11th and was thinking of driving up to Anaheim right after. Was wondering if anyone had any insight on if the parks would be open to 8,10, or 12, Any help appreciated, thanks.

Hi Elk Grove Chris. I'm in Elk Grove as well just thought I'd stop in to say hello. Would like to see what kind of response you get to this question as we will be going in October and would like to know what may be down etc.

Hi Dana,

Have not had anyone chime in. Looking at past hours, there can be some wide ranges of park hours during the week, so it looks like we may have to just wait a while until they actually post the hours.

Yeah I've been keeping an eye out as well not only for hours but also downtimes for rides etc. If I see anything or hear anything on the other websites I read I'll definitely post here so you have some reference.

I might be wrong but if its during the week, it might include the hours for Mickey's Halloween Party. So, if the park is open until midnight, it's open to the public until 7PM, making way for the Party from 7PM to midnight

I believe MHP's are happening on Tuesdays & Fridays if I'm not mistaken. You may want to take a peek in the Halloween thread started by Sherry, there's some useful October info as well as possibly last years hours :confused3

During the first couple weeks of October, there is a lot going on...Gay Days, Columbus Day, Fall break for some states. They extend the hours on Thursday to accommodate the crowds and so they can offer entertainment they aren't showing on Friday due to the HP.

I just realized that my trip was coinciding with Gay days this year (my birthday is the 7th) I have never been during this time, do you know if it makes it super crowded? :crowded:

I'll be there the 1st week of October myself. I'm not a DL vet, (only been there once back in 2001) I'm a WDW vet, (Been there tons of times) but I've come to ALWAYS expect big crowds regardless of the time of year at Disney. There's ALWAYS something going on someplace in the world (school break etc.) and people end up at Disney! IMO you're better to expect a big crowd and be plesantly surprised than to expect light crowds and be shocked at how busy it is. :thumbsup2

Crowds not an issue. We usually go in August and have a great time and don't think it is too crowded at all. When we make long weekend trips in October for a MHP, it feels more crowded than summer, but we can deal with it.

The main reason for my question was that I was going to be down in San Diego on a Thursday for a workshop until around 4. Thinking it would take me about 2 hours, maybe longer in rush hour, to get to DL, was trying to figure out if I would have any time to go in for the night. If they close at 8, I won't get much time, but if they stay open until 10, I would definitely pop in (probably will anyway as I will likely upgrade my hopper to a PAP).
