October/Halloween Trip Reports

I believe 7 is the earliest you're gonna find coffee even at the WL.

My coffee is made in an older style percolator.
percolator.jpg

I don't always drink it in one sitting and I don't mind re-warming it after it sat all night. I guess I have the Army to thank for that. After drinking Army coffee, I have learned to drink coffee just about any way or age.

DW suggested we get a Keurig (or similar) for the TT, but they are expensive to buy, they cups/pods (depending on brand) are also expensive. Besides, I like my older style percolator. (ok, at home I have the "Mr Coffee" type).

I suppose my point is, is that re-warming the coffee in this is very quiet particularly compared to a Keurig or even a Mr. Coffee.

Anyway, I hope you figured out a way to get your morning coffee in a timely fashion. My (old) saying is that:

I don't think straight in the morning until I have smoked a cup of coffee and drank a cigarette.

Alas, I gave up smoking many (Many) years ago, but I often still feel the same way. :)

Just leaving magic kingdom now. The Halloween party was fantastic. All four kids are sleeping in the stroller, and the guys at the boat let us load it full with out folding. Very nice of them.

Percolated coffee is the best, for sure. My wife won't drink it though. Something about not wanting to chew her coffee.

Weather is beautiful for everyone still to come in for the weekend.

We are planning a nice pool day at boardwalk or animal kingdom lodge (parents are staying and invited us as guest) for tomorrow. Going to watch hallowishes from top of bay lake towers after dark. It was a good show, standing in front of castle it kind of surrounds you

Well let's see......where to begin. How about Thursday morning around 6 am when the DW and I got up. Her to go to work so that she could leave at noon and myself.....last minute errands to take care of before leaving for the Fort. I guess it was at about this time that things went arry. (??)
The DW made it home around 12:30 and after some last minute (about 30 last minutes) and a quick lunch and then to the storage center to get the camper, we managed to actually leave around 2. Teresa and I have always just called and got a room on the way down once we had an idea of how far we wanted to travel. Maybe hurricane Mathew had something to do with this but room rates were outrageous and that was if there was any availability. We decided to drive on through to the Fort. First brain spasm. I usually call them brain farts but to keep it family friendly......we will call them spasms. Trying to pace out the drive so as not to arrive to early, Teresa and I decided to do reviews of all the Flying J's between home and the Fort. Another spasm. Got to the Fort around 6. The guard said with a smile on his face "yep...your here just a tad early". He learned that at Disney Charm School. Went to the inside check in desk, gave the nice lady all of our money. Spasm. She told us to go ahead and go to our site.....it was ready. Teresa and I decided to do the minimum setup so as to not wake anyone and just get to bed for some much needed sleep. At about 7:15 my daughter calls on her way home from work. She works midnights at a hospital in Lexington and I want her to call me as she leaving. The dad in me wants to know she gets home safe. About 20 minutes later she is home safe and sound. Teresa and I finally lay down for that much needed sleep. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
Should have put the phone on silent. 9:30 my dad calls to make sure we made it in ok. Well.........after this call neither of us could go back to sleep knowing that we still had much to do setting up the camp site. Oh well......time to get up. I have to say that we have very understanding neighbors. Fearing I had woke them up when we came in at 6, I went over to apologize. All was good.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2. After setting up, we got cleaned up and jumped on the motorcycle and rode over to Espn Club for dinner. It was really good. We managed to arrive before the World Series crowd. When we arrived back at the campsite I said "Self, what other exciting things can we do on 2 hours sleep in the past 36 hours?" Self replied "Let's go to Walmart on a Friday night to get our shopping done". Family friendly or not......only one way to say it "brain fart" "Sure Self....sounds like a great idea". :thumbsup2:thumbsup2If you are wondering who Self is..... Self is also known as DW, Teresa, Sweetheart or Mam. (as in "yes mam")
Well, after an exciting 2 hours at Walmart, we finally made it back to the campsite. Noticing all the great decorations on our way back in, we decided to do some quick looping. Spasm. I did get some good pics and will post them tomorrow. Walked over to the comfort station to freshen up a bit before turning in for the night. On arriving back at the campsite, our neighbors were there admiring my Musket Mickey sign. Ed, I told them how to request the info to order one from you. After about an hour of talking about all things Disney and Fort Wilderness, it was time to officially turn in. I am a little concerned what the last 42 hours have done to me. I just watched 4 loops of Stacy and the Disney Must Do, and I'm ok with that!!
I promise, my future posts will be less talk and more pictures. Just started the 5th loop!!

Sorry I am getting behind with my daily reports. We slept in on Wednesday after MNSSHP and spent a leisurely morning at the RV cleaning and vacuuming. Some retail therapy was in order so we drove over to The Loop and the Beuna Vista Outlets.
On Wednesday evening we tried something new. I enjoy reading Cdn Cruiser's trip reports and have read about the Begin at the End Tour they host at Tagmania. During this event followers of the Tagrel.com group get together for dinner at Trail's End followed by a walking tour of the Halloween decorations at Fort Wilderness. It was great to meet other people who understand our Disney addiction and Gary and Carol were gracious hosts.
On Thursday we went to AK and rode Expedition Everest and walked the Asia Trail. In the evening we went Epcot and rode Test Track and walked around World Showcase. DD sampled the Belgian Waffle and Chai Tea drink, she stated both were okay but overpriced. We also picked up our AP Food and Wine glasses.

Trying to pace out the drive so as not to arrive to early, Teresa and I decided to do reviews of all the Flying J's between home and the Fort.

Wow. I'm gonna have to hang with you on New Year's Eve, man.

Friday night at Wal-Mart too? I may not be able to stand the excitement...

Tell them to get to 10 posts to save me the trouble.....

:dogdance:

Seriously, glad you made it. Now turn the phone off and get some sleep. :cat:

Glad you made it safe Steve. What site are you in ??

Sorry but I'm not much on trip reports. Turns out it's just going to be my daughter and I. Don't want to get into it here my wife and I are seperated. She decided not to come. My daughter and I have been in the parks every day doing whatever she wants. She's in heaven. We're slowing down now and will be looping each evening. Please everyone post your site numbers and we'll come visit. Mine is 724. If the truck and cart are here we are too.

I can't get pictures of loop 2100 to load. If anyone is wanting something specific let me know and I will get them posted when I get home.

It's a beautiful warm day, just got back from a bike ride with 6dd. This is her first season on two wheels. She was able to do six miles this morning. Now they are begging for some pool time.

Last night Teresa and I managed some looping to see the Halloween site decorations. This is our first Fort Halloween and all I can say is WOW!. This morning we got up early.......what am I thinking :confused3.......and caught the boat and monorail over to the Poly for our first taste of Tonga Toast. Well worth the time. We are now back at the campsite watching UK and Mizzu play football and it's halftime. Thought I would make a quick post and pics.

Love the pics! We have dinner adrs at trails end on Halloween. Opinions on the best loops to visit for decorations?

Steve,

Congrats on the UK win today. Assuming they win against Austin Peay later this season, UK will be bowling!

Is anyone planning to watch the Halloween events tomorrow like the Golf Cart Parade?

Bama Ed

We are here, site 1814. Got here yesterday about two, waited in overflow about half an hour and then to our site. Got TT set ,up, golf cart unloaded and started with site decorations. We only put out a fraction of what some have done and it took us hours. Site is ok, but will stick to our favorite 1700 next trip. sister and her family have the site right next door. Went to MK today, it was soooooo crowded. Thank goodness we had fast passes. Back to the Fort for some looping and to relax a camp, tomorrow HS and the cart parade. Here are some pics of our site, sorry they are all at night, but the daytime photos are on my phone. Will get some daytime shots tomorrow with my iPad.

That's a hard question to answer. It seems that each loop has at least 1 or 2 sites that are a must see. We have seen singing pumpkins and animated doors. One site that was literally a haunted house with a forest. Best answer..........loop them all.

Thanks Ed!! Been a long time since that was part of the conversation with UK football. That conversation is usually short and ends up with someone saying "well basketball season is just around the corner".
We plan to watch the golf cart parade tomorrow and Wishes Fireworks from Bay Lake Tower. We have had a really good time for our first Fort Halloween. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
