october half term

is this always the last week in october? we are in the early stages of planning for 2013 and would like to tag a eek on after half term. thanks for any help Gill

Half Term can vary from area to area - I believe Scotland has two weeks off at this time of year.

In my area (West Sussex) term dates are as follows:

Autumn term 2013: Tuesday 3 September 2013 - Friday 20 December 2013
Half term: Monday 28 October 2013 - Friday 1 November 2013
Christmas break*: Monday 23 December 2013 - Friday 3 January 2014

Spring term 2014: Monday 6 January 2014 - Friday 4 April 2014
Half term: Monday 17 February 2014 - Friday 21 February 2014
Easter break*: Monday 7 April 2014 - Tuesday 22 April 2014

Summer term 2014: Tuesday 22 April 2014 - Wednesday 23 July 2014
Half term*: Monday 26 May 2014 - Friday 30 May 2014
Summer break*: Thursday 24 July 2014 - Wednesday 3 September 2014

A quick check shows that these dates do match with East Sussex - but there can be variation - check your local council/education authority website as they list all the dates well in advance.

Not anymore, our schools used to get 2 weeks at October but that stopped about a year or 2 ago? Again, it varies from area to area but I have school holidays on my calendar at work for work purposes and this year the Glasgow schools are off the week of the 15th October.

You can estimate the dates it'll be by looking at this years.

Eg if school starts on the 1st os september and october half term starts on the 13th, and next year school starts on the 2nd, october half term will probably start on the 14th

I'm in Rutland and we have 2 weeks off here, which is a god send as it's the only time we could afford to go, plus it's my favourite month

Our school starts their half term on the 13th of October, going back at the beginning of November. We're leaving on the 11th so we'll have a chance to get over the jet lag in time for school to start again

Yeah ours only get the one week now too. I think it does depend on the county you're in but that second week seems to be gone now They also changed it last year or the year before from the second week of October to the third week, information which they decided to make available AFTER I had booked a trip thinking DD would only miss one day of school .....

We still get 2 weeks off school in October - this year it's from Monday 15th.
We have been every October for a good few years but don't think we will go this year as DD is at uni and is very upset at the prospect of us going without her

Maybe worth ringing the local Authority or checking with the school.

I'm sure ours has dates for the next 2 years on there.

Schools around here (Lancashire) usually get the last week off but the catholic schools seem to take last two weeks off - my daughter gets two weeks hence this will be our 3rd October trip.

Up in Aberdeen we still get two weeks in October hence why I go every October (and say it very quietly July and Easter over the last year darn annual passes!) usually its the middle two weeks.

You sound just like me - with the weather we get in Aberdeen I would happily go to Florida every school break if I possibly could (APs and DVC make it so hard to resist)

Tell me about it - I've been frozen since we got back!! It was 99F the last Thursday of our holiday in the car - a week later hailstones!!!
