We are considering taking DD to DisneyWorld for the first time this year. We were thinking of being there for her 4th birthday which is October 18 ... any advice .. good month .. bad month ... any big conventions that anyone knows of?? I think that is still hurricane season .. isn't it???

We went around that time in October 2003. It was great. The weather was perfect - no rain and temps in the low 80's. The crowds were very light. We're going again in October again this year, though a little earlier to take advantage of value season rates.

October is our favorite time of the year to go. You will have moderate weather without the chance of a cold snap. The summer afternoon monsoons are gone. Epcot has the food and wine festival all month long. The parks are generally less crowded unless you go to one the the MNSSHP, which are generally packed. Even though it is still technically hurricane season, it is just about the last few weeks in the season and much less active after September. The only downside is the lack of school holidays.

October is our favorite time of year to go - we LOVE it. Due to conflicts in my husband's work schedule we were only able to go on October a handful of times, but now he is with a new company and we plan on taking all of our trips in October. It works out that our wedding anniversary is in October, the anniversary of the day we met is in October and our DS was born in October - so we have LOTS to celebrate! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I can't wait to go this year!

October is the most perfect time of year to go, IMO. Before my son started kindergarten we would go every year in October. It is still warm enough to play in the pool, yet not stifling hot. There are no crowds and you can walk right onto the rides.

I have to agree with everyone here as well. We went in October on our last visit and we loved that time of year soooo much that we are planning on October this year as well. We used to always go in Feb/Mar to get away from the snow here but there were always long lines for rides and unpredictable weather. Our last trip in October it rained for exactly 1 minute our whole 10 days there and was sunny and low to mid 80's everyday! The lines were sooo much shorter and overall it was so much more enjoyable. We are going this year a little later in October in order to do MNSSHP on Halloween! I don't think you will regret it!! :cool1:

The past few times we have been in October the weather has been outstanding. I wouldn't worry too much about the hurricane season this year. Last year was a 1 in every hundred year occurance.

Have fun.

Oct is a great time to visit we also like 18th as is our anniversary date, the weather was great and were going again this year too, like other posters we're taking advantage of value season, median temps are good and parks are not busy, according to UG MK will average less than 25,000 people verse more than double in summer....have fun

Two thumbs way, way up for October! When we were there even if it did rain it was an isolated, short afternoon shower, just enough to cool things off without causing more humidity. Orlando has a commonality with our area of Calf. in that if it rains too little it makes it worse. But we had a wonderful time with light crowds and bee-a-u-tee-ful evenings.

We have been in October many times in the past, before our kids became school-aged. We have the opportunity to visit this October, and are very excited about going at that time of year. As stated above, it is great weather and low-crowd attendance. Also, we greatly enjoy the Food and Wine Festival at WS.

:cool1: I already planned my trip for October, and now you've all made me even more excited about it. I was worried about the weather, but it's great to know that October is such a popular month. We're going the first week--for my birthday! (Disneyworld and I were born only 3 days apart, lol).

It looks like I'll "see" quite a few of you there! Can't wait! :cheer2:

I agree... October is one of the best times to go to WDW. We love MNSSHP, my dd loved dressing up like Tink and we got her face painted at the Boardwalk. It was such a fun time. Another good time is the first 2 weeks of December. The crowds were light and we got to go to MVMCP.
I'm so jealous! We were planning on going 10/05, but I recently found out I will be 8 months pregnant and really don't want to be that far from home!
Have fun on your trip!!!!

October is a great time to go. We are going this October and have been several times in the past in October. If you go at the end of October you may need a light jacket or sweatshirt for going out at night.

I am so glad to hear all the good things about October! Our anniversary is in October, and I have been secretly plotting to get DH down there for our 15th (2007). :ssst:

We usually go in June and I would love to go when the weather is nice and things are less crowded! :earsgirl:

I agree with everyone else. October is a fabulouso time to go to WDW. Just as a warning though. Spectromagic doesn't show everynight at that time. So if you have your heart set on it... Spectromagic or better yet the Electrical Parade is my favorite parade. I'll be joining all you folks in October too though! I need to get tickets for the Halloween party!

WOW -- Thank you so much for the good reports. We have "set" our dates for October 14-19. I could easily stay another 4-5 days but our budget doesn't allow for it. I'll take what I can get. We can't wait until we can tell our DD. She is going to be so excited. We planned it so that we can be there to celebrate her 4th birthday on the 18th.
