October Crowds

I know this may have been asked several times, but I couldn't find the answer I wanted in the other posts about Columbus Day or traveling in October in general.

My husband's vacation time changed from September to October this year, so I am trying to figure out the best week to go. I am a little bummed because this is 1 1/2 months longer to wait for vacation!

October 10-17 (Columbus Day is the 11th)
October 18-24
October 25-30

We have been to MNSSHP before and will plan on doing that again. I know the last week is really busy for that, so I am kinda leaning toward the 18-24.

Thoughts?

Oct. is a great month to go. I haven't been there during Pres. Day weekend, but in order to avoid the possibility of a crowd, I'd go with your 2nd week. We'll be there from the 13-18. We specifically chose to go after the holiday. The crowd levels tend to be in the mid range and the weather tends to be great.

We get to make ADRs on Fri.

Thank you! I think the week you suggested is the best one too.

Unfortunately, we have to leave on Sunday and return on Saturday due to my husband's work schedule. I used to love leaving mid-week (like on a Tuesday) because flights are cheaper! This whole work thing is throwing a kink in my plans!

I've been a couple of times in October and the crowds have been great even at the MNSSHP. The weather... once in October there has been a hurricane that actually got close (wilma). Now I'm NOT saying it's a for sure thing simply because it has happened to me twice (the second time was in September and only rain bands) but there is a chance. WDW is AWESOME about the whole thing though I was VERY impressed. All in all I would pick the second week too, it really is a good time to go. October is one of the best times to visit. Temperatures are starting to cool off and crowds are much easier to deal with. Have a great vacation.

I went with my MIL last Oct for the F&W Festival and it was heaven. Very low crowds and the weather was perfect. Almost everyone I talked to was from the UK, must of been a holiday there or something.
