October and Columbus Day

Do you guys think that Columbus Day weekend will be crowded?

I was just about to change the dates of our trip to the week before (Oct 1-9), but I noticed that a lot of people here are going that week, and not so many the week that starts with Columbus Day (Oct 8-16).

Part of me wants to edge the date up (the sooner the better. ), but not if we'll run into crowds. (we're taking elderly, agoraphobic parents).

DH and I have been there the week of Columbus Day on almost every one of our trips - including our upcoming one this October and we have never had a problem with the crowds. MK does tend to get busy over that weekend but we have never really had a long wait for any lines - and we definitely make use of Fastpass.

I think that the crowds will definatley die down b/c people are coming and using the free dining offer - so that first week of October is going to be crowded!

I will be there the 2nd week and it does seem like less people will be going then!

So it's the dining plan that's drawing so many people on the first week! I was wondering, we're going to be camping so that wasn't even an issue for us.

I am worried that the free diners will still be lingering around this holiday. The check in deadline for the free dining was 10/4. I am sure there will a decent amount of people checking in that day to take advantage of both the free dining and the holiday weekend. I would think that the avg stay is about a week, though, so hopefully only the first part of our trip will be crowded. I have been trying to get CRT lunch for both Sat and Sun of Columbus Day weekend, and both days were sold out before 7:30, so I'm thinking it will be somewhat busy (even though CRT is pretty small). We went two years ago during Columbus Day weekend and just avoided MK during the busy times. It was crowded, but not unmanageably so.
