**@@** October 6th, 2007 Magic**@@**

We've been on the Cruise Critic message board with about 4 other people.
Been wondering were everyone was. Well looks like this is the place to be. Looking forward to this trip and really looking forward to just taking it easy. This cruise will be myself the DW and our DS (3) and this is our first trip on the Magic but we have done the Wonder and loved it. Can't wait to see everyone there!

I just went over to CC and did another reminder post that this is where we are....

Welcome dmarlor! Check out the first two pages of this thread for fun info!

Welcome Andrew!!!!

My thoughts and prays go out to Gmom and the entire town. That's just terrible. :grouphug:

Talked to MIL yesterday and she got her passport Wednesday. That was the last one we were waiting for so I can relax a little. Now if I can just get she and SIL to get their plane reservations made, all will be set.

DH and I stopped by Target on the way home from church and bought suction cup hooks and clear over the door shoe hangers. We're in a cat 11 and used the hooks to hang the shoe holder on the tile wall behind the toilet. Since that is right beside the sink, it was the perfect place for deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, contact solution, shampoo, etc. Note that these are the heavier hooks ($1.99 each) that you snap down to engage not the smaller "push suction" ones.

 40 days till we leave...
Hope all are having a great weekend. It's Sunday afternoon..guess that means naptime.

Well I have been putzing around making door signs and thought why not make tip evelopes...

Here is what I came up with :-) Boring I know lol

I think that is an awesome idea!! I didn't even think of that one! Man, mind if I borrow that idea and make some too? :upsidedow

No! Your's would be way better than mine!!! :lmao:
giggle :thumbsup2

Giggle HAH! I think yours are just the cutest thing.. I like each of the pictures and you made them just right! Neat as heck! I wouldn't try to make them better...don't think that's possible.

Well, anyway Tomorrow I go back to work after more than 3 weeks off from my surgery...<sigh> shortest dang 3 weeks I've ever had.. I gotta go back to work anyway to make some money to fix the dang mower...It's blowing lots of smoke and I just think the motor might be blown! It still moves but it moves in a big cloud of stinky fumes! BLECH! Blasted mower's only about 6 years old. Gotta have a rider mower working..we have 2 acres to mow and it's been down for a few weeks and our grass is takin' over the world! :scared1: Sheesh...!

But on a good note- we are about one week away from the 4 week mark!! YAHOO!! :cool1: :thumbsup2

Hi All-

Wanted to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to all who have given such kind words and prayers. Gma is still in ICU and things are not looking as good as we originally thought. While I have no doubt she will pull through this, it is going to be long and difficult. Her ankle isn't just broken but completely shattered and there will be no way for her to use crutches (when she is ready in the future) as her ribs are broken as well. The Dr.s are also fearing pneumonia as she is being kept totally sedated. Her lung was repaired in surgery but it is still in danger of filling with fluid. We anticipate that she will be in the hospital for at least the next few weeks and from there she will probably have to go into a nursing home for care until she is well. Gma still doesn't know that the other driver was killed and we did finally find out who she was. It turns out that she had some sort of condition that may have contributed to the accident but we won't know for sure until they conclude the autopsy. Sorry to be such a downer this morning but thanks for listening.

OK now on to some fun stuff!

Laura, of course you can see my cat 3. I am a little bummed though that I couldn't get my original cat 3 so this one is set up a little different. You will definitely want to see lildeb's room too as that one is setup like my old one. It is triple wide versus the others that are longer and narrower. Same amenities just laid out different. There are only four cat 3's like lildeb's onboard; they are the ones around the midship elevators. That's why they are like that. They needed more room from the front so they made them wider. I actually prefer it that way as it gives them a bigger balcony. No biggie though; it's just personal preference I guess. Just make sure you see both of ours (or any of those 4 wider ones 8534, 8532, 8032 or 8034 and the regular ones like mine) so you can request what you want for next time.

I am off today to order my sea lice sunscreen. It is a MUST HAVE (IMO) to swim and snorkel with at Castaway Cay. We were so bitten up last year from those nasty creatures and I won't make that same mistake again! I will let you all know where I wind up ordering from and the exact name.

Rellyrooly- our thoughts and prayers are with you and yoru family. Being from MN I think we've heard about this accident on the news. We hope everything turns our great in the end!
Time is fast approaching and the summer clothes are slowly making their way from the closets and drawers into the suitcases!
See you all soon!

(((DGMIL)))

OMG! I JUST Ordered mine yesterday. Tooo funny! I ended up ordering from drugstore.com I hear the stuff is kinda slimy/hard to put on? Have you used it before?

And Thanks So much about the Cabin tour... When I first faxed in my request for this cruise I had put down midship Cat 3, but when they told me that the cat 2's would only be a couple thousand more, I had a momentary lapse of sanity and went for it. (ha ONLY a couple of thousand more -sigh-I could have gotten a Cat 1, but thought that was just too over the top. :lmao:

With that said we will never ever pay what we are paying for this cruise again! :rotfl: TOO MUCH!

Soooooooooooooo I am very curious about the Cat 3's... :dance3:

It shouldn't take long... perhaps a sea day? I would also love to get a video of all three types of Cat 3's (stick them up on You Tube for all the insane disney people)

The sea lice are very annoying in that their sting is almost a burning, tingling sensation. It is more like an irritation than a sting, in fact. I wouldn't say it "hurts" per se, but it is super irratating and takes a while to calm down. I bought Safe Sea Lotion off of their own website. Drugstore.com was a bit cheaper but Safe Sea is having a $2.99 shipping for all you can order. I wound up ordering some with 15 spf sunscreen and some without (They have a few different strengths). You can also use their SPF free lotion with your own sunscreen so that you can have a specific SPF per person. They also have a kids/sensitive lotion. I also bought the jellyfish sting ointment. I have been stung by a porteguese man-o-war before and MANNNNNNNN that hurts! (It was in Hawaii, not Castaway). I don't know if it is any better than vinegar, but I figured I'd give it a try. Better to have it than not have it. The website I got mine through is www.buysafesea.com

I have used this before (they had a little bottle of it at the infirmary at Castaway Cay that someone left) and I didn't notice that it was hard to use. It seemed like regualar lotion and for the rest of the time I snorkeled, I wasn't bitten again! IMO, the best $10.99 you could spend!

Sea Lice.....YUCK! I read about it but I didn't think it was that common.. :scared1: Now I have something else to buy!! :confused3

We are heading off to Woodloch Pines - A family resort in PA - We wll be back Saturday

Sounds like a blast! Have fun! And thanks for letting us tour. Should we all figure out a plan for that... or just wing it? Of course you know me and planning... tee hee.

Well, October is not HIGH season for them, but last time I had "an unexplained" rash that drove me crazy, turns out it was sea lice. Sooooooooooo I had to buy sunscreen anyway, why not this stuff. AND since it also needs to be applied UNDER your swimsuit (where my 'rash' was) I wont have to waste time on CC slathering the kids up, we will do it before we even hit the beach.

Kids had their first day of school today... it was rough waking up so early, for me, not the kids! They were up and ready before I was. Very cute. I can't wait to get back into the rhythm of things again. Although I always have, and always will hate waking up early. - sigh -

Just over a month until we set sail on the high seas!!!!! :hourglass :dance3:

Work has gotten pretty busy with all the teachers coming back and students arriving next week. I try and lurk when I can but I admit it has not been every day lately.

Rellyrooly-So sorry to hear about your DH's grandmother. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Lildeb-Can I come see your cat 3, too??? I'm only cat 11 so I'm sure you don't want/need to see mine...but I am just way too curious to turn down that offer! :upsidedow

Sea Lice-Is this sunscreen necessary? I've been in the ocean before but have never encountered these sea lice yet...I am a bit nervous to check out that other thread but I'm sure I will. DH will think I am just finding one more unnecessary thing to buy based on the recommendation of my DISboard friends. :rolleyes1

Buttons-Did everyone order theirs already??? I guess I need to get on that!

Laurabearz-We would probably be interested in any of the various drink tastings but it will depend on when/where it is. We will have a 21 month old and it will depend on if Gma and Gpa will watch her at that time. We have booked our 10 hours at Flounders already and I don't think any of the bookings coincide with the tastings. But it sure sounds like fun!:thumbsup2

Is the antisealice sun screen really needed. That is the million dollar question. I opted to buy 2 bottles of the stuff. I had to get sun screen anyway so my thinking is, what's another 6 bucks per bottle to get the antisealice sunscreen. Those buggers got me last time, and even though this is off season, I rather not have to scratch 'down under' if I can posibly avoid it. It's really a bizzare icky feeling.

As far as the 'tasting times' from looking at past Navagators they seem to be held around 2ish on sea days. Now I beleive we have a large enough group, that I bet I could arrange a private tasting for us all through Concierge. We have several Concierge families on this cruise, we should use that to everyone's advantage! :lmao:

Soooooo Bellestella, ask the Grand Parents when on a sea day would be good for them, and we can go from there. We need to take into consideration that Sea days are also formal/semi formal night. I personally can not see trying to put on mascara too soon after doing 5 shots of tequilla  :lmao:

So I think around 2 pm is the way to go Thoughts people?

I think a deadline to sign up for the Margarita tasting should be Sept 15th, that way we 1) know the number of people 2) talk to concierge about the best plan of attack. Sound like a plan?

On a side note... Since we got our Passports, I printed out all our cruise docs, car rental, hotel, limo, ME et all paperwork and placed them neatly in a LIME GREEN folder. I could leave tomorrow, if I didn't mind walking around naked. Oh and anyone wanting to see the Cat 2 is more than welcome.
