October 31, 2009

Hello everyone!! I hope you are all doing well. We had the graduation of my oldest yesterday, and I've been extremely busy with that the last few days. Since we home school, I had to plan and execute the entire graduation (we had 2 graduates!!). It was stressful, but worth it. :)

Hi all I have not been on in a while but now that we have saved enough to pay for the cruise I am getting more excited about it. Who do I talk to abouot the lanyards. We are thinking that we would like to get in on nthat if it is not too late. We need six all total. I hope to be in on the chat tonight so maybe I can get some details then.

:firefight

Great!! I think I have a PM for you. I will PM you back in a bit.

Woohoo!!!!!!! Can't wait.

Thanks Jeff! How about on one of the sea days after lunch?

Great idea, William!!

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. Monday, our first at sea day, somewhere between 2 and 3. Whatever works best for everyone. If we wait too long in the cruise, that won't give people enough cruise time to make more. If we do it on a port day, people might miss it, and we can't allow that.
So first sea day is the only logical choice.

Perfect. Let's plan on that. :) 2 PM on Monday. :)

Just looking around for shirt supplies and found that at HP.com, they are offering free shipping and buy 2 get 1 free on iron-on transfers.

That's a good deal, Kevin. I just bought some Hanes dark T shirt transfers, and plan to try those in the next couple of weeks. There are only 5 in there, so I will need to get more.

Looks like we are going to have a wonderful uncrowded day in the Grand Caymans... There are only two ships scheduled to be in port (Carnival Freedom and us) with a total of 4624 passengers.

Here is where I found the info.. Very cool..

That's very cool!!! We didn't get off of the ship at GC last time. We'll see what happens this time.

That sounds great. Has anyone figured out what they are doing when they are in port. The past two years we have had rain on our Grand Cayman days . Hopefully that will not happen this time!

We may do an island tour in GC. My dh and my ds are going to do the bottom fishing at CC.

So ... do you guys think that our stop at Cozumel will get changed?? So much going on there now. CDC is possibly saying no travel to Mexico now ....... That probably won't last until October, but ... it could.

congrats on graduation weekend! Saw the pics on FB - looks like fun!

I wonder about Cozumel. I wonder how soon, or how late, they would make that decision?

Thanks! It was fun ... for the most part.

I don't know, but I know that last year, they decided not to go to Costa Maya exactly one week before we booked that cruise. We booked about 102 days out, and that would make it about 109 days out. So, it may be July or so.

Hey guys .... I may be late getting on tomorrow night. We're going out to dinner for my son's birthday. We're doing hibachi Japanese, and I'm not sure when we'll get home. Jen, can you moderate chat for me until I get here??? :)

Where is everyone this week?????

Alright, Question of the Week ....

Will you and your family/group be going formal on formal night??

me - not sure yet. Probably depends on how much weight I lose before then!! LOL!

Our family will be doing both the formal and the semiformal. Our 2 girls will be graduating this year, one from 8th grade and one from elementary into intermediate. So both have already gotten dresses for graduation and for semiformal night. My oldest has a graduation dance and both girls are attending a family wedding in August so that will be what they wear for formal night.

I will be renting a tux like i did for last cruise and we enjoyed do something special that we would not do any other time. We really enjoyed the special pictures that we were able to get.

Also thinking they will make nice shots for Christmas cards.

I don't believe Stephanie and Kristen will be able to make the chat tonight. Both girls start NJ Statewide testing tommorrow.

We will but will be more like semi formal then formal. DH will probably be the least formal. DD likes to dress up, and I do as well, to a point. DS likes to wear a tie and his sports jacket, but hates dress shoes. You will see him with his crocs on I am sure.

I will be there to moderate. Alexa will be late - she has some homework to get done and she is not moving to fast on it.

sounds like it might be a quiet night.

Christmas pictures...did not even think of that! Great idea!!!

Wow. That will be wonderful!!!! I hope we're able to see your family that night.

We missed them tonight, Steve!! Let them know, please. :)

Yeah, we'll probably just be 'dressy,' but you never know. I seriously doubt that Jonah will dress up much ... but Alexa might convince him otherwise .....

Thanks for taking care of that Jen and Kelly!!! I wasn't sure what time I was going to get there, and I'm glad you guys cover for me. :)

I look forward to the adult chat on Wednesday!!! :) Hope everyone can join us.

Alright, Question of the Week ....

Will you and your family/group be going formal on formal night??

Probably not. Don't like dressing up much. And we will not have enough room in our luggage. We travel with carryon only. If anything, it will be business casual. Hope we can still sit at your table Shell. ;)

Not sure just yet. I have a tux, just don't know if I will bring it. I might bring my black suit (for semi-formal) and then dress it up a bit more for formal (a vest, tuxedo shirt, something like that)
We are unsure about my son. He is only 7 and isn't really into that kind of thing. We have friends with 4 boys who have been on several cruises so they said we could borrow suits and stuff, we don't know what they have or what will fit. I'm not into buying to much for him since it will be worn once.
My DD is 4. 4 year old girl. enough said.
My wife will use any excuse to get a new dress. enough said

We have talked about it and we have pretty much decided not to do formal night. We will go to the dining room if we are interested in the menu and dress nicely but formal is not our lifestyle and we dont feel the need to spend the money on something that is just not us.

We are planning to dress up. It will depend on what fits in the suitcases!!! My little one has enough princess dresses to cover the week. I would like to have a nice Christmas picture so hopefully something will come together

I hope everyone is having a great day. The weather here is absolutely beautiful. On to the question of the week, we may or may not dress up. If we do it will probably be a suit for dh (definitely not a tux). The kids are easy although I would probably just have ds wear a nice pair of pants and a nice shirt. I would probably get some type of dress "on sale" and something I could wear to another event.

Hey Jeff -

What is the subject matter of tomorrow nights chat???

hmm......
Do we want it to be cruise related or non cruise? I was thinking a mix. The non cruise stuff will help people get to know each other better. The cruise stuff will keep us pumped and be good for us newbies.

Lets get to know each other a bit more this week.
Peoples hobbies....

Just noticed on the Disney Cruise line website that due to CDC Travel Restriction guidlines Disney has changed the May 2, 2009 Western Caribbean sailing plans. They have taken off the stop at Cozumel, Mexico and replaced it with a stop at Nassau, Bahamas on the Thursday of that week. This is only for this sailing and will continue to monitor CDC Travel recommendations for future sailings.
