Hi Charlene,

We rhyme, I'm Darlene :) We did the Xcaret excursion in April. It was lots of fun, but it is rushed. The park is beautiful and if you do the underground river for it's whole length, you don't get much time to do much else. I would do it again and do recommend it, but my DD got sea sick on the ferry to the mainland  so I think next time we'll find an excursion on Cozumel. We got off the boat everywhere and did an excursion at all stops. Most were short enough to give us time to do other stuff. In Key West we did the Pirate Scavenger Hunt in the Pirate Museum, in Grand Cayman we did the Island Tour and Butterfly Farm. That was not great. The turtle farm stop was neat, but rest of it, blah. DD& I fed the stingrays at Castaway Cay, while DS & DH went parasailing.

Hi Darlene,

What was the Pirate Scavenger Hunt and Pirate Museum like? We are thinking about the trolley tour and the butterfly farm in KeyWest but that tour sounds neat too.
We were looking at information on the turtle farm in Grand Cayman we thought the girls would enjoy it and thought about going to the beach afterward. We did the glass bottom boat tour in Castaway Cay last time and like it but thought it was a waist of out time at Castway Cay.

Hi Laurie!

Your up bright and early:cool1: What time zone are you in? I think we are 30 minutes ahead of you.

Good Morning All!:goodvibes

I hope everyone has a great day...we have two days left off school here and then my dd is out for the summer! I found some candy bar wrappers over on the Creative DISigns page to make for the teachers...there is some really nice stuff over there. Someone even posted step by step instructions for the tye dye shirts. I wish I had these simple instructions when I made my first ones in 2001. I just used the instrucations with the dye...which wasn't as simple:confused3 Me and my dd's made these for the cruise...they are bright and make it easy to find everyone:lmao: I had a cm in the gift shop tell me he had people coming in looking to buy my shirts:goodvibes DD's loved all the comments they got on them especially since they made them! We were thinking we might try Halloween colors for this cruise...it makes for a great boarding picture!

Wow! Lots of Jersey people are cruising w/us! That's great! We are from Hazlet. Family that will be on this cruise with us are from Medford & Barnegat.

We are heading to Lancaster,PA this weekend. Going to Dutch Wonderland. Mid July we are going to Bolton Valley in Vermont, then the first week of August we are headed to DISNEY!! Kids don't know that one-they will be very surprised.

What a great surprise!!:goodvibes

This is the first time in a while we have nothing palnned until this cruise...unless something comes up last minute like when we went to DL...we planned that about two week in advance.

Hi Jaime,

I thought the Pirate Scavenger Hunt was good not great. It was short. It involves going around the musueum (which is sort of small) and finding info at different exhibits. My DD was bored, because of course she's too young to read! I found it interesting myself. We explored Key West after, we walked way too far with the little ones but I HAD to get to that southern most point marker! We also went to the Hemingway house but toured it on our own. The kids loved all the cats :goodvibes We liked the turtle farm but didn't get much time there. We might just go out to Boatswain Beach on own next time. Did you get sea sick on the glass bottom boat? I've heard that happens....

Hi Everyone! I've been busy these past two days. I'm a teacher and we're finished for the summer, but I still tutor and attend workshops, so it keeps me busy.

NJMomma, I have a friend who grew up in Pompton Plains. She has lived in South Jersey for over 25 years now. She used to watch my children for me when they were babies while I worked. So I have heard of Pompton Plains.:thumbsup2 I do agree that the XCaret excursion would be rushed, but we might just do it anyway. It seems exotic and different.

Gotta run again!

Thanks...Boatwain's Beach sounds really neat!

We want to see the most southerly point too but think about taking the trolley. It was a long walk??

Seasick:lmao: That is funny...I thought for sure they would! Especially since they had touble with the cruise ship. I am the only one who felt a little. I think I didn't get sick because I got there early so I could get next to the side on the boat and still see the glass bottom. For some reason I find smaller boats harder...

Hello everyone!!!!!!! I need to catch up over here!!!!!

Laurie, when we're in Myrtle Beach we also do Broadway at the Beach at least once or twice. Last year, my daughter and I were there for the day by ourselves and she just had to do that Magiquest. It looks inviting and fun, but you have to purchase some items even before your child gets started. She enjoyed it and I know she'll want to do Magiquest again. I thought it was ok, but I'm spoiled by everything Disney (nothing compares!) We also have seen the movies in the Imax theater which is enjoyable. Last year we saw their Safari film. We enjoy the min-golf too. I've tried a few of the restaurants there. I can't remember the exact names, one was seafood restaurant and the other was Margaritaville which is always fun. We go shopping at the outlets. Of course I can't remember the name of the outlet center, I would know it if I heard it, but I'm drawing a blank right now. It had a lot of big name brands and was rather large. ?? We also visited the site of the new Hardrock park which was still being built last August. It will be lots of fun visiting it this year. Since my son is in a Myrtle Beach tournament that was costly, one perk he gets is a "fun pass" that allows him free or reduced entry cost into the local amusement and water parks. We also have done the Nascar Speedway. I did the 2 seater go cart with my daughter, but I did not go that fast. (Always a safety girl :confused3) But that too was enjoyable. What we really like the best is just laying out on the beach because it is so beautiful with the palmetto trees and the warm ocean. We absolutely love it. :goodvibes So I am really looking forward to our August trip. Oh, almost forgot, we fly out of Philly:) and we drive down to Myrtle :worried:

I know it's early, but has anyone been thinking about excursions? I started to research the XCaret in Cozomel and that looks fun, although I think it might be a rushed excursion. What have all of you been thinking so far? Do you like to do excursions, or just relax on the ship?

Charlene

Hi Charlene!!

We did Magiquest too - UGHHHHHHHHHH - it was like a ZOO in there! But, the kids liked it and that is the FIRST thing on their list of things to do for the next trip!

We also did the outlets - OMG - great stuff there!! The Coach store is my favorite!!!! LOL

We fly out of Philly to Orlando and we drove to SC last time, but I keep getting rates from Spirit to flyout of AC - if I can get a cheapie - I'll fly to SC!

I haven't even thought about excursions yet! LOL We did the trolley tour in Key West last time - it was OK - but when we did the Magic last time, it was right after Hurricane Katrina - so the place was a mess. We weren't even able to go to Cozumel - we went to Costa Maya instead - that place was GROSS! But, Grand Cayman was really nice. We got a van ride to the beach and back - we had a large group and I guess we tipped well enough for them to come back for us ON TIME and make two trips! LOL

:goodvibes Hi Everyone!:goodvibes Just taking a afternoon break and thought I check to see if anyone post today!

Hi Charlene,

We had a great time overall...I loved the Magic! We never rebooked onboard...really wish we had now! I know others in our group rebooked onboard and only booked the adults...they added there children later to save a bit of the deposit. I wish I thought about doing that! That way you would still get your discount and your room credit. If something happen that you could not add your children later you could always change your date. We really enjoyed the Eastern cruise...it was alot of fun especially having 3 days at sea.

Hi Laurie,

We loved DL it just different than WDW...you will really enjoy it! They are different parks and they really can't be compared...they are much smaller and make it easy to go between the parks. One thing we loved is the restaurants are much easier to get ressies for...we called the same day and had a choice of dining times for lunch with the princesses. If you can we really enjoyed seeing Hollywood...we drove and it took about 35 minutes to get there but on the way back it took 3 hours...so if driving watch for rush hour...it is like it is in the movies...bumper to bumper. Still fun though. We do enjoy Florida more but are really glad we went to Calaforina and plan on going again when the girls are older and driving up the coast. You'll have so much fun!

I am really excited about Halloween too...I never really enjoyed Halloween as it is usually cold here by then...but we loved the Halloween party at the MK...it is the best Disney activity we have done...and it was nice to let the girls wear "normal" Halloween costumes without winter jackets!

I have to go glow golfing now...have a great night everyone!

We never rebooked on board either - we were going to on our last cruise - but, wound up buying additional DVC points instead! LOL

I can't wait to go to DL!! I know it is different, but it's still a Disney owned company! We have tried Hershey Park in PA - and my kids aren't big fans - because "IT'S NOT DISNEY" - they compare everything to WDW! Oh, well - I guess that is MY fault!

We did the Halloween Party in MK twice! It is so great!!! The Pirate Party is pretty good too!!

Hi Laurie,

I am from Pompton Plains/Pequannock. I am guessing you never heard of it, not that many have! It's pretty far north - do you know where Willowbrook Mall is? or Wayne? Near there. About 15-20 miles from NYC. My parents live in Lakewood and my sister's in Freehold. To us, that's So. Jersey :rotfl2:

Hi Jaime!

Didn't want to leave you out :goodvibes

This pirate thing sounds pretty good - maybe we'll have to check that out too!

Oh - has anyone tried the banana boats at Castaway Cay?!?! I DO NOT like those - I was petrified! LOL It's actually an amusing story - I'll have to TELL you when I SEE YOU!! :rotfl2:

I do know where willowbrook mall is - and have heard of Pompton Plains!!! We used to live in Middlesex County, right near Menlo Park Mall. We moved south to Marlton at the end of 2005.

I love the fact that this is going to be a boat full of Jersey people! Hazlet - I was just there for a baby shower a few weeks ago (actually Union Beach), Medford is 2 mins from me and my SIL lives in Barnegat - I've heard of ALL of those places!! :cool1: I am all over the map over here! LOL

Let us know how your trip to Dutch Wonderland is - we've never been there.. But, is it for younger kids? I think I was there when I was a kid!

Disney in August - I am jealous! We are only going to WDW for ONE day when we get off the Wonder in August!

So, I am almost caught up!! It's nice to see activity here!!!

What does everyone have planned for the weekend?

We had our last day a school here today...it always make for a busy week!

My dad might be moving to the US and he was wondering what are the names of some of the airlines who tend to have the best rates?

Hi Jamie!

Where in the US are they moving? When will they be moving?

From Philly - we usually go Airtran or Southwest - they have pretty reasonable rates. We used to fly Delta - but, their rates went up. We have also flow Spirit out of Laguardia Airport in NYC - they also fly from Atlantic City. The best thing to do is go to Orbitz.com - and type in the airport code w/some dates and see what comes up - you can get a variety of pricing there and see which is the cheapest.

I am up - it's 3:43 am - I am NOT happy!! I went to bed EARLY - I was so tired, I was up at 12:40 w/a 'sick' kid... he went back to bed - then the tap dancing dog had to go out w/the nails on the wood floor - back and forth. So, he went out - then the puppy started barking at 3 am - so - here I am!! UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I am still on my cleaning mission here today - not sure how well I'll be functioning later today though - I am HOPING to try to go back to sleep! But, today - my tasks are going to be the boys bedrooms - stripping beds and dusting, cleaning out under beds, fun stuff like that!! :rotfl2: Then a quick once-over on the main floor - we have friends coming today, not sure if we are going to BBQ or go out to dinner (depends on how I am feeling later, I need to foodshop and prep food for a bbq) - so, I am leaning towards going out!!! Then, we are taking all of the boys (they have two, we have two) to a double feature at the Drive-in - so, that'll be fun! This weekend they have "Wall-E" and "Get Smart" - I LOVE the Rock - so, I'll see anything that he is in!! LOL

Tomorrow we have a Bday party to go to - and my husband is working, so, it's me and the boys!

Monday I am working - and Anthony starts basketball camp, and a summer basketball league - so, that should be fun! (and maybe he won't be bored for a whole week! LOL)

Sorry for my rambling - this is what happens when I am up at this time of the morning!!!!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hi Laurie!

I tried to post yesterday but it wouldn't work. He is looking at moving to Arizona in August...he has been traveling back and forth for the past year. He would like to take advantage of being able to go places so I'll pass on the information...thanks.

My youngest has been getting up all week at 4:00am and I can never get back to sleep...I tend to really ramble when I get tired:thumbsup2

Did you like Wall-E? We plan on taking the girls for Canada day. They have been asking to see it ever since they saw the comerical on our cruise in November.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Good Morning Jamie!!

I hear Arizona is gorgeous! One of the guys that I work with - his son (who works w/us in the summer) goes to college out there and LOVES it!!

As far as Wall-E goes - UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I thought it was horrible! :scared1: It seemed to drag on forever - and I have to be honest, I fell asleep! :rolleyes1 When you think Disney/Pixar - you think BIG movies like Toy Story, Cars, Monsters Inc., Nemo - and this was NOT like ANY of them! If you go - bring a pillow! LOL

Off to work for me today! I hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Hi Everyone! I've back after a stressfull weekend. :headache: On Friday, my husband and I went out to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary,:lovestruc which was wonderful, we went to dinner. But the next day, Saturday, my daughter, who wears an appliance in her mouth to fix her bite, her appliance broke and I could not get any emergency help for it at all. It had to hang out of her mouth all weekend! :sad2: It was stressful. I couldn't believe that I didn't get any call backs from the ortho group that we work with, but whoever was on call duty for the weekend, dropped the ball. I called again first thing this morning and we did get it fixed, but that doesn't help the fact that we had a horrible weekend.

Anyway, all is well again. I hope everyone else had a good weekend. I didn't get a chance to see any movies this weekend, but I did see a review of Walle, and the reviewers said that it was slow in the beginning, but overall thought it was a good movie?? It does not look good to me. I think we'll skip it. We want to see Get Smart. Has anyone seen that movie yet? I'd also still like to see the Indiana Jones movie.

What movies have you all seen lately?

That's horrible about your daughter...she must have been very upset.

We haven't had a chance to go to a movie lately...we did watch the bucket list and August Rush at home the weekend. We really enjoyed August Rush.

Alright - so I give wall-e 2 thumbs down, Get Smart was pretty good, Indiana Jones was So-So - not a great movie, but not horrible. We also saw Kung Fu Panda a few weeks ago.. hmmmmmmmmmmm.. what else? Looks like there are a few good ones coming out too!

Hope all is well w/everyone!

Dad has visit there a few times this year and he loves it! I think he is excited about the posible move.

Hmmm...maybe we need to rethink the movie idea for tomorrow...$50 is a lot of money to pay for a movie I will sleep through! Maybe we will see KUNG FU PANDA instead.

Have a great day everyone!
