October 30-November 6 looks busy!!!

JohnnyTarHeel
You picked a great week to go! We will be there the same time. This will be our 4th time going during this week. You will see heavier crowds when you arrive(super soap weekend, and last 2 days of food and wine festival)but it will be pure heaven after that.:teeth:
Really, we have never waited on a long line, walked into restaurants with no PS, and had wonderful weather, in the low 80's, high 70's. The usuall "big attractions" have a bit of a line, but that's what fast pass is for. Trust me you will be spoiled by that week in Nov!! We are! We went in the beginning of May and thought it was so crowded compared to Nov.

We're also going Nov. 13-20. Have heard that Jersey Week is kind of busy, but nothing like the summer. We are really looking forward to vacationing during this time, as the crowds, weather, etc. all seem to be wonderful. Can't wait!!

We went two years ago over Jersey Week. We also picked this time b/c we had read how uncrowded WDW was up through T-day. We were in for a surprise! Now it was not jammed packed, but since we had expected relatively few people we were surprised by how many people there were. I know the week we were there I'm pretty sure hearing that almost all the WDW resorts were sold out. However not all the off-site places were so it was nothing like summer or holiday crowds. And to us it did seem like the whole state of NJ was there! We were often asked by cm's where we were from in Jersey! I know our whole plane but us was from Jersey. :) Actually I'm really jealous that NJ gets a week to themselves!!! ::MinnieMo

don't worry guys, some of us will be on the Magic for most of the week.

Hi - this is a bit OT, but my cousin and her family are going to WDW 10/30-11/6, which includes Jersey Week, and she's freaking out because the airfares are sky-high. She'd rather fly out of Newark, because it's the closest. Continental wants about $500/ticket, Song wants about the same, and even JetBlue wants about the same!

Last year, ticket prices for November dropped the 1st week of August, but we went the week after Jersey Week, so it's not exactly the same situation...How are you all doing with airfare for that week? TIA!:D

We are often there Jersey Week since it coincides with the F&W Festival. And, I'm often there in the summer as well. Contrary to other posters here, we have found it very crowded during Jersey Week, so crowded we've often just given up and left the parks. I have seen no significant difference in crowds between summer (been there in mid-June and mid-August) and Jersey Week.

Being from NJ, I can tell you that "YES, The Entire State of New Jersey will be there".

Just kidding of course!! WE will be there Oct 29-Nov 7.

We were at WDW for Jersey Week in 2000 and it was great. Our last trip, 2003 was earlier in the month of Oct and it was hotter than the first week of Nov. so we opted to go for "Jersey" week again this year.

Dont worry, you will have a blast and meet some really nice folks from NJ!!!::yes::

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!!

Hey Tinkerbelle739: You're right....in my "neck of the woods" it seems like the whole state will be down there!! I know so many people that are going down that week...I don't mind of the people I like....but the people I don't like.....ugh:earseek: !!

Where are you staying?

And everyone will get to meet some really nice people from NJ!!! We're great fun!!!:teeth:

I'm not flying (taking Amtrack) but all my friends that are flying got great deals out of Atlantic City. I know its not as convenient as Newark Liberty but I think if your cousin wants a good rate she might have to opt for another airport. Check into it. I believe my girlfriend said she got a price of about $600 for 5 people!!!! I'm not sure what airline though. But I know it was out of Atlantic City Airport.

Okay, you've all sufficiently freaked me out.

We're shifting our vacation back a week from Oct 30th staying until Nov 6 TO October 23rd staying until Nov 1st and adding two nights so we can still do MNSSHP on the 31st.

I guess I actually made out on that change! I added two nights! YAY!

I'm from NJ and traveling similar dates. The fares out of Newark are extremely high right now. If willing to fly out of JFK and not traveling on a Saturday, you can get very reasonable rates on Song. $125 per person roundtrip. With these savings, the cost of car service is easily justified.

I guess I don't understand all of the panic. I was there last year at this time and had absolutely no problems. The crowds were light, the weather nice, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Have people been to a different WDW than I have?

SPIRIT AIRLINES IS THE COMPANY THAT FLIES OUT OF ATLANTIC CITY. thEY ARE USUALLY REASONABLE BUT DO TO TEACHER CONFERENCES IT COULD BE THEIR HIGH TOO. CHECK ON FRI THRU SUN FOR CYBER SPECIALS. WE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH TRANSPORTATION WE ALWAYS FLY BUT A CONSIDERING DRIVING FROM SOUTH JERSEY. WE ARE THERE FOR HALLOWEEN CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WAITING FOR AP RATES...

If you're considering driving, check in to the Amtrack rates. Its so much more relaxing than driving (unless you really like driving, which I don't). We got a AAA rate on Amtrack of $562 for 5 of us. That'sa really great rate. I find the train very relaxing and enjoyable. The closest station to you would probably be Trenton.

We also went during "jersey week" last year. I didn't even realize it was "jersey week" until I read these boards. I was so excited that we didn't wait in line for most of the rides. I think 15 minutes was the longest we waited. I'm going during jersey week again this year and I'm not worried about the crowds.

I already have tickets for MNSSHP for October 31 so we are pretty much stuck. Its more being concerned about how DS (who will have just turned 2 on October 21) will handle being still in line. He is a little booger!
I will be flexible with my hotel. I'd rather be at WDW than here at work so it will still be awesome! I was hoping for WL, VWL, Dolphin, or AKL. I'm sure something will be left.

Actually, you're not stuck with those tickets. I called Walt Disney World Ticketing (number and address are on the letter that came with your tickets). They will reticket MNSSHP tickets for another available date at your request.

I've already reticketed once, and I am in the process of doing it again. For some reason, it has been a real pain in the rear to nail down our trip dates this year . Something keeps coming up with DH's job that puts a kink in our plans every time I make a reservation/ticket change. I just hope this is the last change for us. We're planning on being there from Oct. 24 until Oct. 30.

Super Soap weekend is Nov. 13th-14th this year. It seems to affect only MGM.

All I suggest about Jersey Week and Veterans Day is to avoid the MK on Saturdays, and if you want to check out the food booths at the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot, do it on a weekday if possible.

DH and I went in 02 during Jersey Week/Super Soap Weekend/F&W fest and it was ridiculous. There was a 20 minute wait for Small World!!!!! When you have to wait 20 minutes to get on Small World, you know the park is crowded!!! Other encountered wait times were 45-50 minutes for Jungle Cruise, 50-60 for Space Mountain, and somewhere in that neighborhood for Splash and Big Thunder. We do utilize fast pass, and it was helpful. But don't kid yourself, the parks will be crowded. I won't ever go that week again!

Erin :D
