ACK! I just looked at the school calendar and fall break is one week later than usual this year.:confused3 I will probably have to jump ship and reschedule for the the following week. boooo!

That's what happened to us!!! I hope you can get the room you want. When we had to change the date, it cost us over $600 for our family, because prices had gone up since we had booked (only one month earlier). I say, send the bill to the school board!
Good luck!!! We will miss not meeting you

Just talked to Disney. It will be just over $800 to change dates . DH said no way! And there is no guarantee he can get the other week off work so it looks like the kids may just get an extra week in their break schedule! With homework added of course!

hahaa here ya go school board! Every year fall break is the first week of Oct. Now they change it on us ?! haha Oh well.

Finished 12 cabin gifts today!!! They are so fun! I will refrain myself from posting pictures, although I REALLY WANT TO! But I want it to be a surprise for you all!
My family thinks I am crazy! It's just a way for me to pass the time .........

We are getting so excited about the FE's! Already started our gifts, and am working at making our fish extender.
We have my husband and I and our 5 kids ... so I am worried that our FE will be too long ... (or too heavy)?
Working on the FE's sure is a nice way to help the time to pass ... October just seems too far away!
It doesn't seem like we will have that many in our FE group ... for those of you seasoned DISers ... will there be lots more to add to the list?
Also just finished a couple of pillowcases for my girls to turn in for Character signatures ... I saw that someone else had done that and think it is such a fun idea! They want to use them now, but I told them they have to wait! :)
So glad to have these boards ... they have been so helpful in planning our trip! Any extra advice that you think would help our family not miss a thing ... would be great!
We can't wait!!!

I would be worried about the length of the Fish Extender as well. Another problem is that once it has gifts for 7 people in it, I may well be too heavy to stay up even if only one cabin is delivering before you can empty it. I would go with one per cabin if you go for a traditional Fish Extender or if you only want to do one, then I would go for something like a tote bag and just put everybody's name on it.

It is hard to tell how many people we will end up with for Fish Extenders in the end. There have been so many changes to the line up of this cruise. I am also still having three families that have not confirmed if they are still coming or not and three families where things are kind of up in the air at the moment. In my experience, the best indication is around the 75 day mark as after this you cannot cancel without penalty and if there are any special offers for this cruise, this is when they will turn up. So we might be losing people just before the 75 day mark and gaining people shortly afterwards.

I am making 10 of everything at the moment and I can always make more. I have two gifts for the cabin, two gifts for the ladies, two gifts for girls up to 10, two gifts for girls 11 +, two gifts for the boys and one gift for the gentlemen.

I am glad that you will still be sailing with us.

I can feel your pain. I have made 10 of one gift that I will give to the ladies and 10 of one gift that I will give to the younger girls and I just want to post pictures of them on the Homemade FE Gift thread, but I will resist the temptation. I am hoping that most of the materials that I need will have arrived while I was away. I essentially ordered everything that I need for the individual gifts before I went away. Next month I will order what I need for the cabin gifts.

Well, I am back from my vacation now. I still have today off and then I am back on a late shift tomorrow. We had a wonderful time in Dubai. Now that I am caught up with most things online, I will have to download the photos and get started on my trip report.

Welcome Back!

I will do the same as you, Corrina ... basically 2 gifts for each person and cabin ... we have so many ideas, this way we can do them all! :) And we can spread it out during the week, so there will be gifts on 2 different days

That is the problem that I have had every time I have done Fish Extenders and this will be my 7th time of doing it. Initially I go through a phase where my mind is absolutely blank and I just can't come up with any ideas. Then suddenly the floodgates open and I have more ideas then I can use. I like these smaller cruises in this respect as I can just run with the ideas and just make multiple things. It is a lot more difficult on the bigger cruises. On my very first cruise, we had 400 + people participating in Fish Extenders and on the Panama Canal cruise it was about 300. Then I really have to go with one idea and stick with it.

I hope everybody is OK. I have finally gotten around to updating the spreadsheet. I am sorry that it took me so long. My job has kind of gotten in the way ;-) Could I ask you to have a quick look at the spreadsheet and if you have any question marks against your party, could you please provide me with the missing information?

I have been busy working on my Fish Extender gifts. I have now finished everything apart from the second gift for the men as I just had an idea during the week, the finishing touches for one of the boys’ gifts (which will probably be done before the weekend is over) and the two cabin gifts. I will work on those next month. I think this is the most organized I have been for any of the cruises that I have been on. There is a possibility that I have to do some more of some of the gifts, but that is fine. For most of them I have done plenty of extras as I had so much fun doing them and I had spare materials anyway.

Wow Corrina!
You have been busy! We are getting there! Our fish extender is almost done and looking so cute! We decided on one great big one ... I may put a little bag or something on the other room door, if gifts don't fit ... I'll have to post some pictures soon.
We are getting going on our gifts too, and they are going to be lots of fun!
We looked over the list, and all of our info looks correct. We will be rearranging the rooms once we get there.
My DD6 is so excited to have some other little girls there her age ... and I told her there would be some little girls there from Australia, and her eyes got HUGE, and she asked me if they have ever been to Sydney? Her name is Sydney, and she wants to go there someday, so it will be fun to meet you all! :)
Is it too early to make a countdown chain?

Finally have some ideas for good fish extender gifts! Mindy helped with one (brilliant) and the wheels are starting to roll for some more. :) Corinna I'll check the spreadsheet and let you know how it looks for us! Welcome back. :)

Yes, I am a busy be and I have to be. I do not only have this cruise to consider, but also our vow renewal, which will take place the day we get off the ship. Things are falling into place quite nicely for this now, but I still have a few things to sort out. I have now sorted the venue and the photographer. I have my dress and the shoes. I just ordered the flowers and the button hole for DH. We got the new wedding bands while we were in Dubai. I have the jewellery covered or at least I think I have. I am waiting for the jewellery artist to get back to me with some more details. So that leaves me with having to sort out a reservation for the dinner after the ceremony and a cake, which I can’t do until August. I am also struggling with the hair decorations. I have my heart set on a ribbon veil. I had already planned to wear a ribbon veil for my wedding over 13 years ago, but ended up wearing a traditional veil. This time round I was going to have a ribbon veil. This was actually the first thing I bought. I found a very cute one on Ebay and bought it. Unfortunately it is attached with a comb. I have very fine hair and just can’t get the comb to stay in. So I decided to have a go at making my own ribbon veil, but with a hair band to keep it in place. So I spent a happy hour this morning looking for ivory ribbon and lace in different width, designs and textures. I am also going to add a couple of light blue ribbons. I am not sure how this is going to work out, but it is worth a try, especially as I do not like what is commercially available.

I can’t wait to see your fish extender. I have gone down the lazy route and had one made from somebody on Ebay. I have a couple of Fish Extenders that I normally swap out, but this time I had a special Fish Extender made for the vow renewal.

I had to smile when I saw the name of your daughter. One of the daughters of a dear friend of mine is also called Sydney. They were supposed to be on this cruise as well, but unfortunately they had to cancel.

I am so excited that the dates for Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland have now been released. I am planning to go on September 30th and on October 11th. So I have to work on costumes for this. I am going for a princess costume for the first party and will treat myself to a make over at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for this. They offered it as an experiment on the Disney Magic last year for some of the European cruises including the Westbound Transatlantic cruise. I had this done for the second formal night on that cruise and had a blast. For the second party I will wear my new pirate costume that I am putting together for this cruise. I have the dress sorted, but I am still working on the accessories.

Pirate costume?! Does the fun only get better?! I am now adding costumes to my list of things to get ready!! Still doesn't compare to your list Corinna.... Wish I knew how to help you with that veil! On my wedding DAY I thought I was going to be making mine until my step mom broke it to me that I had bitten off more than I could chew and I was racing to the bridal salon on my way to the ceremony!!! So you are wise to plan ahead. :)

Can't wait to see all of your treasures!

Yes, Pirate costume indeed. On the Disney cruises they do a pirate night on cruises of 4 nights or longer. A special pirates menu is served in the dining rooms and everybody is encouraged to wear pirate's attire. There is also a bunch of pirate themed entertainment from mid afternoon like Pirate trivia, a pirated game show, etc. After late dinner, there is then a Pirate party on decks 9 and 10 that includes the only fireworks at see. I have also heard that there is a fantastic buffet. I have to admit that after 6 cruises I have yet to make the deck party. However, I do get dressed up for the photo opportunities.

This is my all time favourite pirate night photo. Unfortunately I had already changed as we were having dinner at Palo that night and no Pirate attire is allowed in Palo:

Here is the dress that will form the base for my new pirate costume:

As for the veil, I would never attempt making a proper veil. My sewing skills are just about enough to fix a loose button. However, I found some instructions that are just asking for the ribbon to be knotted onto the hair tie. I will have a go at this, but might decide that I will be happier with sewing this on.

By the way, just in case you guys are interested, my Vow Renewal Planning Journal can be found here:

Did anyone else get the call our itinerary has changed? No Mazatlan. Cabo twice. :scared1:

Did anyone else get the call our itinerary has changed? No Mazatlan. Cabo twice. :scared1:

You just made my day. I have been saying for ages that I am hoping that we will skip Mazatlan and get a second day in Cabo. Mazatlan just never appealed to me, but we both loved Cabo when we stopped there on the Panama Canal Cruise. I really want to do the Dolphin Trainer for the Day at Cabo, but that takes up the whole day. I also really want to go and see the arches and the sea lions. So on one of the two days we will do a glass bottom boat tour. When I do my dolphin programme, Graham will do the Sea of Cortez snorkelling excursion.

I wondered when the decision would be made. Suite guests and Platinum members for the first MR cruise after Alaska can start booking their excursions on May 28th. So it was about time that they made the decision.

I just checked my booking details and it still mentions the stop at Mazatlan. I hope they update the itinerary soon. I want to know what the port times for a Cabo are. Did they mention if we have two days there in a row or if it is one on the way down and one on the way up?
