Kim....

You can always run over to Cocoa Beach, if memory serves correctly, it's only about 20 minutes or so. Don't know of any others :confused3 .....anyone, anyone?

Hugs,

RonnieJo :flower:

Kim,
If you have a cat 12 booked with 4 of you in the room you are guaranteed at least a category 11 cabin (the cat 12's only sleep 3) so you will have an automatic upgrade.

As for beaches near the ports, I'm not sure. We rented a car in St. Martin from Best Deal and explored the entire island last time, and on St Thomas we took the water taxi over to St. John for some snorkling at Trunk Bay.

I think we are going to do Captain Nautica's in St. Thomas this time and still not sure what to do in St. Martin.

Ok..I need MAJOR advice...I have Palo booked for Friday night..(it was the only time available) Beano said "don't miss it" so I booked it..Now I hear that the last night's dining is really something not to miss, especially if you have kids...what to do??!!! HELP!

Betsy : I can't help since I'm a newbie , Maybe you can do both what time is your ressie at Palo? Maybe you can go to the dining room and not really eat and then go to Palo later.

Ok now I need some advise. DH has ummm grown out of his suit that we bought a week before our last cruise 10 years ago. He doesn't wear one very often and I'd hate to spen the money on one right now if we didn't have to. Could he get away with a pair of dress slacks and a shirt and tie ? It seems to me he'd only be wearing the jacket for the picture and to walk in and out of the room, the rest of the time it would be hanging on the back of the chair. Just how formal is formal night.

Thanks guys, I guess this wouldn't be the first time someone told me I talked too much!!! :rotfl2: :rolleyes1

Well, now that I know you still care, you do care right??? Someone, anyone...Buehler???? I thought some of you might be interested in what movies are playing right now on the Magic. I know they could change, and probably will in a month, and some of you never watch movies because you have too much else to do, but here you go: Princess Diaries 2, Sky High, Valient, A Lot Like Love, Brother Bear, Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribbean, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Herbie, Howl's Moving Castle (huh??), Poohs Hufflelump Movie, The Pacifier, National Treasure, Ice Princess, The Incredibles, and Ladder 49.

I guess I have answered most of my questions already, but one that I asked and didn't get an answer to is I did sign up for the tram, but was wondering if everyone was going together at a certain time? Can't afford to buy the bling, but I think a bushwacker is definately in the budget (or I could even live dangerously and say order two without breaking the bank???)

Betsy, looks like you grabbed the Palo's I cancelled. I just hated to miss the last night. I mean it's not the end of the world and you can tip the next morning at breakfast (if you don't skip it to sleep in just that little bit longer like I do...) but one thing you can do is to keep checking to see if there are other times (although you have to delete yours to see new ones) or do the scramble when you first board and see if you can swap for another day with one of the ones they have held back for on board booking.

Lynne - I have had the reservation for about 2 weeks, I just didn't know anything "special" was done on the last night..I have a 6pm reservation and that is my dinner seating. I was thinking maybe the Oceaneer's Club would do something special for the last night and she would like to be there...oh, the agony of planning!

Well Barb, they're not ALL still available! LOL

It took us 4 years to get a cat. 1 room, and now we have one 2 years in a row! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I know what you mean though, and I agree. The less crowded the ship is, the better. Hell, I think the DIS'ers from this thread might just command the whole ship all week! :rotfl:

'Beano'

LOL! I knew I should have posted that.

Hi Lynne :wave2:

I am sorry if you felt ignored everyone on here is so great at answering questions. This is my first cruise so I have a million questions but no answers :earseek:

What info where you looking for???? Try posting again I am sure you will get an answer.

We too are hoping for a upgrade, we are booked in a 12 gty but we have 4 people. I would love to get something with a window but a veranda....OMG that would be amazing.. :rolleyes1

Bling-Bling shopping...OMG, just looking on the internet is great. I am not a big jewerlly person, I only wear my anniversay band and family ring, but I am hoping something will catch my eye....actually I am looking for a nice bracelet or anklett....

Hope you are feeling well soon Betsy, my DS is fighting a cold as well.....bought some Vitamin C yesterday

Ok, back to work for a little bit... :rotfl:

A friend of mine is leaving for a hawaii cruise on Sunday....on Pride of Aloha...anyone any experience with it???

Kim

Kim? Will you let me know if you find out any info on booking the Stingray thing at Castaway Cay?

Betsy - I would suggest you do the Palo 'ressie scramble' on board, and you'll probably get something else. At the very least, you can get on a waiting list for cancellations. I agree that you should not miss the last night in the dining rooms; it's pretty cool. But you CAN'T miss Palo! If nothing works for you, I might be able to make a reservation for you through concierge. I'll just tell 'em your my...sister! Ya, that's it ! Sister! ;)

luckey - a shirt and tie is no problem. The jacket is suggested, but not a "must". You'll be amazed at how many people you'll see at the formal and semi-formal nights wearing polo shirts, or even t-shirts! No class, man! :rotfl2: But they do it all the time. So the shirt and tie would be ok, IMO.

Lynne...

We are just gonna walk up to Paradise Point Tramway and buy our tickets. No specific time has been discussed.

As far as pricing on the bushwhackers.....me thinks they were about $6.

Hugs,

RonnieJo :flower:

Kim - sorry, I didn't see your question.

One drawback I hear of for the Pride of Aloha is that they have open seating for dinner, so you never get the same server twice, and you don't sit with the same people each night. So, it's rather impersonal by comparison.
Otherwise, it's a nice ship, and how bad can sailing around Hawaii be? :goodvibes

yeah, me too, should we cancel and just get them "at the door" so to speak. I swear I just love catching up with all these posts. I am now on page 80. RJ, I just loved your post about the typo on page 69 or so.....male syrup......can you say ewwwww?

Tenor

p.s. does anyone think 10:30ish is too early to get to the port on Saturday? :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

10:30 is 30 minutes too late to be at port on Saturday! Just kidding! When you get there you get there. However, if you want to be towards the front (doesn't matter all that much because ressie lines usually don't open until 12:30 or so) you should get there around 10ish. Right Beano? If I recall that was the time people were allowed to park and walk over?

I have heard that Tram tickets are left in your room. You can go whenever you want. You can always find out when you get on board. If that is not the case, then just cancel when you get on the ship. Bushwackers are $6 or $7. You will only need 1 or 2. No worries there. Drunk in 2 is what a Bushwacker is all about.

10:30 is fine to get to the port. You most likely wouldn't be allowed in earlier than that anyway.

Ports caution: St. Maarten - there's a beach that a lot of people will just walk to. I think it's called Great Bay or Beach - something like that. WARNING: It's NOT worth it. There's tons of "litter" and broken glass chunks in the water and sand. One of our friends felt something strange in the water, reached down and picked up a chunk of broken glass about 6 x 8 inches that was in the water. It's a common complaint, it turns out.

The beach that we liked and it's a very short taxi ride to get to is Dawn Beach. It's family friendly. There are waves so if you have really small kids, you gotta watch that. There are "peddlers" selling their wares. We ended up buying some really pretty bracelets and necklaces for the kids and a gorgeous St. Maarten beach towel - all for about $30. There's a place to buy food and drinks. Just a thought.

St. Thomas - there are all kinds of beaches you can just walk to, but they will be crowded. You may want to venture to Coki or Magen's Bay - both very nice with lots to do and just a cab ride away. But if crowds don't bother you, definitely stay close to the ship. Red Hook is where the ferry to St. Johns is located, but that'll be a cab ride (about 25 mins.) - the cab will run about $5-6/person and usually they don't charge for small children.
Formal night - like Beano said - you will see ALL kinds. Some dress up to the nines; others will be in their bestest cleanest Lakers basketball attire (I swear that was what a guy was wearing at the table next to ours on formal night on our first Disney cruise - jersey and all - blew me away!!!)

Okay, if I missed a question, it's because that's a bunch of pages to go through. Remember, you can always PM a question to one of us (or all of us) to make sure you get an answer.

Thanks Trish and TZ. I just remember the last time we got there a lot later than that, and the line SUCKED!!! (on the other hand we were still early and DD was so bored even w/the TV's...) So I was wondering how early was overkill. :confused3

PLEASE can I ask 2 more questions????? One: We are staying at the Swan on Thurs. and Fri. thanks to Westin Starpoints. I don't know if I can do the Epcot meet because we are only going to buy one ticket to one of the parks, for just one day, w/out the hopper this time around, but if a bunch of ya'll are in the area, is it possible to get together for dinner one of those nights? Or for some people to meet us at the Swan? Or, will everyone be too busy going to the not so scary....and oops this will make it three, but is it worth going to the not so scary?

And 3: About the park tickets. Since we are actually going to be on property for the first time, what is the best way to go about a ticket to either epcot/wdw/mgm/animal park.....yada yada, since we don't get that lovely FL discount you lucky ducks who get the discount do. Will the Swan have their own discount, or is there a consolidator somewhere that offers good discounts? Most of ya'll are such experts because you have been SOOO many more times than us, and you know all the good dirt.

I appreciate anyone's help and sorry about the number of posts today, just trying to catch up on all my questions.

And if someone can wave some pixie dust around...we are burning up the last of our Westin Villa points (similar I guess to DVC) to go to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina this Sunday, and the news said that a tropical storm for cryin out loud might hit there on Saturday!!! ARRRRGGGGHHHHH :umbrella: :scared: :worship: :sunny:
