Llamas, let me tell you about llama, when my dad died last year he had some and let me tell you and you can not even give them away.

Of course then, who wants a big wool animal that can win any spitting for distance contest

Good morning all! 13 weeks from today we'll be on our way! :boat:

We don't really have any excursion plans except we would like to go to the beach at St Martin to watch the airplanes land.

I think I might be the only one not doing excursions...When I went on my last cruise (before kids) my ex worked for Chrysler and he won the cruise from "5 Star". Chrysler paid for the cruise (nice big balcony) and all excusions..so being big divers, we took EVERY flippin excursion...in Aruba, we did 2. I was so exhausted after that cruise and never got to "enjoy" the ship. We were so stressed about getting up and ready in the morning to getting back and ready for dinner, I swore I would never do that again.
I think DD and I will do some snorkling in CC and there will be PLENTY of spa time, but I am looking forward to the big VEG!!! lol

We're not doing any either. We are going to do the islands on our own. We have never been on a cruise before, and I really like the idea of just relaxing and not stressing about having to be somewhere at a given time for an excursion.

If your children are under 18, they have to accompanied by an adult...so, you'd have to go back with them and check them back into the club. You can leave them on the ship while you disembark...they'll just have to stay there while you are gone.

Hugs,

RonnieJo....thanx for the response..this is our first Disney Cruise. we are really looking foward to it! My kids at the time of the cruise will be 11 and 4, and from the way it sounds I think that they would rather hang out on the boat with some other kids instead of hanging out with their parents! :earseek: It looks like you have enjoyed your cruise experiences...I'm really into hanging out and relaxing..looking foward and hoping for good weather. Thanx...Evie<>< :wave2:

touchy subject here:
Do you tell your schools ahead of time that the kids will be gone? Our kids have a 2 week break in October so it hasn't been a problem until they changed the calendar this year and Timmy started jr high (no breaks here). He says he doesn't want to go and spend a week doing homework. Can't blame him there. Thinking about not saying anything to the school at all .... :maleficen

I always tell the school in advance. I write a letter to the school and my daughter's teachers (she is now 14, but we have taken her out of school at least 1 week every year since she was in Kindergarten. Last year was the only year we had an issue--her Algebra teacher was a bitty about it and caused some problems, but I say **** them ;)

We always talk individually to the teachers in advance. It's a 4 hour drive to the port so they get a jump on their work and we always make sure that there's time each day to keep up while remembering that it is the kids vacation too. DS is starting in middle school this year so we'll see how that goes.

It really is just a blimp on the radar screen when you think about it. Most of them will go to school 16 years by the time they are done. What the hell is one week a year going to do? My son's school is implementing something new this year. No work will be given out prior to the time taken off. They will be given a packet when they return and will have the number of days they were out to do it.

We just got back yesterday from the ISI World Championships.
Cassie skated wonderfully !!! She placed 1st in her technical program, 1st in her Character Spotlight, 5th in her Artistic Program ( she was robed, but I'm only slightly biased !) , and her Compulsary Team placed first as well.
Overall her club placed 20th out of 115 clubs with only 14 skaters competing , Anaheim ice for example had over 200 competing, so we rocked !!!! I'm trying to catch up on all the post.

Hope all is well ! :maleficen

:cheer2: CONGRATS TO CASSIE AND HER TEAM :cheer2:

Glad to see you back Luckey :goodvibes

Hugs,

CONGRATS CASSIE!!!!! WOW!

Thanks for the advice on the school work. I like the idea of not handing out work ahead of time. Our schools don't work that way, alas. I'm just gonna tell Timmy that I'll help him with the work. Heck, I'll walk him thru the math! Or maybe he will just be "absent". I agree that the missed week is a "blip" -- the opportunity to make friends and have new experiences last.

Hey again everyone..

Happy Sunday...

We inform the teachers ahead of time...If they do not want to give us work, then my kids catch up when they get home..

My oldest is going into the 6th grade this year in a new school..Middle school...

My wife Cindy is a school teacher, So I am not that worried...

She is in the process of getting her teaching job back as we speak..She took time off to raise the kids until My youngest was in the 1st grade...

She always works with the kids...and on every vacation, makes sure the kids do some kind of school work...No biggie...Katie and Jessie have made first honors as long as I can remember.....

Dont sweat it..Kids always catch up..

Bobby

Bobby-
My biggest concern is that our teachers are notorious for giving work packets that have twice as much work as what they'd give if the kid was in school. Maybe it will be different in junior high. In grade school you have more of a say in the amount of time your kids spend on school work, but in junior high it's a whole different ball game isn't it? I mean, I know it doesn't ruin their chances of getting into Harvard ( :rotfl2: ) if the grades drop.

Speaking of ball games ... how was it?

And lastly ---- who has tried to book excursions on line AND BEEN SUCCESSFUL??

just wanted to say hello to all took a long weekend in lake george with the kids and my parents it was fun and relaxing..

Hey everyone!!!

Well it is Sunday night but that is OK since we are on holidays...yaaaa :cool1:

I think I am finished my cruise shopping....just the dreaded bathingsuit :scared1: I think I will pick that up the weekend before we go :rotfl:

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

My brother has been doing all of our bookings and he didn't have any trouble. He booked us for snorkeling in St. Maarten, and parasailing and a cabana massage at Castaway Cay. But when I went online to add something, all it gave me was a choice of, like, maybe 3 excursions on St. Maarten; nothing on St. Thomas or Castaway Cay :confused3 I usually only talk to him every other week or so, but I'll try to get a hold of him to figure out how he was able to do it so successfully :sad2:
