The Amazing Cozumel Race sounds exciting! How much is this? We are in Cozumel in just a little over a week and have nothing planned for this trip. Maybe I'll look into that :)

I sent an email :) I will let you know if and when I hear back from them.

Thank you so much for contacting us. You are one step closer to an awesome Cozumel adventure - part scavenger hunt, part sightseeing tour, all fun. We run everyday except Sunday. Tours begin at 10:30 local time. If you wish to join us, it is $79.00 per adult, $55.00 per child. That includes the race, refreshments, the awards ceremony, post-race snacks and beverages, and transportation if needed. (Essentially we provide a voucher for 70 pesos each way from wherever you are headquartered to the race for each group of 4 people.) The entire experience from our meeting you at the starting line until the end of the awards ceremony takes about 4 - 4 1/2 hours, and generally leaves plenty of time for you to shop or further explore Cozumel. (If you're not too pooped!)

That was quick ;)

That Amazing Race sounds like so much fun!!! I have to make sure Tessa hears absolutely nothing about this because she will be so disappointed that she's too young!

I'm laughing, because I emailed them too and got this response,

"Thanks so much for contacting us. We are thrilled that you are interested in playing the Amazing Cozumel Race. Quick question: how are you getting to Cozumel and where are you staying? If it's by cruise ship, please let us know which one. Sorry to answer your question with a question, but we need that info in order to give you all the details you need to get to the starting line. We thank you again, and look forward to seeing you soon."

Sounds like they have cut a deal with the cruise lines to charge us more.

I know that you were thinking of participating during your week there, so I emailed back to get info for both options. I'll report back if I get any additional info.

Also, the site specifically states there are no age limitations, so unless you think she is too young, she can participate. :thumbsup2

:scared: Yikes!!

I didn't think of that. I just emailed that we would be there Monday Oct 27th on a Disney Cruise. It never occurred to me not to mention that. Good thinking

Never thought of that. And just how many cruise ships are due to be in port that day?

The port load for that day is 13,082 (as of now).

Cozumel: Norwegian Jewel, Carnival Glory, Disney Fantasy, Carnival Sunshine

We should be grateful we aren't there on the 30th... there are six ships in port, including Oasis of the Seas! Port load that day is 19,911:scared:

Here are the ships in port for the other days (if anyone is interested. I always like knowing who are dock-mates will be :) ).

PC: Carnival Liberty, Eurodam, Carnival Sunshine, Disney Fantasy (12,750)
Grand Cayman: MSC Divina, Disney Fantasy (7,959)
Falmouth: Freedom of the Seas, Disney Fantasy (7,634)

Well, that will teach me to jump to conclusions.

The prices are the same, just the instructions on how to get to the starting line vary. Pretty pricey, though.

Thanks for posting this! :thumbsup2 Someone had posted it at one point somewhere, but now that it is here again I'm going to add it to the first post.

Ron

I read somewhere in the beginning of the thread that a few of you have been on the Halloween cruise before. Is this an annual thing that you do? J/w. Sounds like a great group of Disers! If that's the case, I have a feeling we'll be joining you on the 2015 Halloween Cruise as well. :cool1:

Thank you so much for the info. I'm not quite sure where I saw that kids need to be 12 for this adventure? I have been researching far too many things :surfweb: and my mind is apparently jumbled!
Shocking, I know.

Hmm... Most of the graphics .....

Thanks for the feedback. Makes sense. I'm clueless about this stuff.

Yep it really is what Ron said above.....

Wow, thanks for detailed explanation and understanding my desire for details. . You rock. I suppose I was thinking mainly about the T shirt graphic. Silly of me to think it was easy. lol
Wasn't life simpler in the past? Weren't computers supposed to make our lives easier? :lmao:

I'll be pleased with anything that is available. I was just asking. :thumbsup2

Anyone else feel more comfortable than usual knowing we have experienced, helpful, knowledgeable, and awesome leaders aboard this sailing? We do.

Thanks Ron, Jen, etc :worship:

I can't dislike you. You make me laugh :rotfl2: ......

Glad to hear. :thumbsup2

OMG, can't believe I did it! That is my first dancing banana...

Welcome aboard, and congrats on the first of many dancing bananas I hope. :thumbsup2

.... We've paid the deposit, I guess we are really *in*!!! ....

It is exciting, that does make it real. Wait till it's Paid In Full, another moment for several dancing bananas, or scared dancing bananas, as then there's no turning back, at least after PIF date. :lmao:

:sail:

WAIT a minute! There is turning back after the deposit? There is no going back for me!

Thanks for the welcome. I am completely obsessed right now on this subject. :bitelip:

:lmao: I know what you mean. It would be sad to have to reschedule, or worse, cancel. :scared1:
But some do move their sailing date around a bunch. :confused3

These boards sucked me in. lol. I suppose there are worse hobbies/obsessions. :scratchin

Just one thing I wanted to add in regards to the Amazing Race discussion. :thumbsup2

plannermom, don't feel bad about jumping to that conclusion- it was a reasonable assumption. A few years back, in Cozumel (and it may still be the same now), some of the Dolphin Swims refused to allow DCL cruisers to book their excursions *except* through DCL (or I think in one case did not allow DCL or any cruise ships at all!) In order to book people were having to claim to be staying at a local hotel.

In this case, yes directions are different as all three cruise ship piers will probably be in use when we are there- also the meet time may be determined based on which cruise ships the participants are from and when those people arrive in port. (Carnival ships seem to be late arrivals in port in my experience, LOL). But like I said, considering the history of certain excursions in Cozumel it was a reasonable assumption.

Cozumel is definitely a port to do your homework in, especially if you are booking your own excursion. We have had three awesome do-it-ourselves experiences in Cozumel but have read a few "horror" stories here on the Dis as well. :thumbsup2

I don't expect this group will have any problems, we will have great fun planning and educating each other over the next 9 months!:goodvibes

Nenner1, I'm not able to see any images you post... anywhere. Even on the links you posted about your last Halloween cruise. Is there something that I need to download in order to see the images?
Thanks in advance. :)
