October 25, 2014 Fantasy Western "The Not So Scary Halloween Cruise 2014" Part 2

It was quite choppy in the snorkel lagoon, and also over at Serenity Bay. ...

Well then glad we chose not to partake. I had enough choppy snorkeling in prior ports. lol.

It was calm at the farthest private family beach.

Forgot to mention, during the peak storm at what 8:30pm ~ the last night, our balcony partition door became unlocked and was banging around significantly in the wind. I eventually opened it fully and placed the chairs and tables to block it from moving/banging more..

In the morning my wife swears the whole partition, including the fixed panel was either missing or had already been removed for repair. I find it difficult to believe the need to remove the fixed panel, but she drew a pic for me and I believe her, verifying the whole verandas were adjoining, no fixed panel. And she knows these verandas and ships too.

Our entire veranda partition, including the fixed panel and the operable door was removed super early for repair apparently. Or was removed by the storm.(unlikely) If I saw that, I would have taken a pic, but ... our neighbor was a Diser too, so ... perhaps they will add input/confirm? ? ?

And we were starboard, not in the full force of the wind. The folks port had the brunt force of the wind. If we had a veranda partition issue, I'm confident many more did portside, IMO.

Verandas; still don't spend any time on them. Total time on veranda this sailing, 15 minutes a day max, times 8 days = two hours, total . :sad2:
Of course we still love the light and view though.

ETA; wife napped for an hour or two one sea day on veranda, so ... adjust #'s as needed.

I don't use my verandah often either, but it's there if I need it. I try to watch the fireworks from the balcony because it's too many people on the upper decks. Other than that, I am not out there often. The sunlight is really great, but I noticed people had sunlight from their portholes as well.

I should book Oceanview and save the money, but I can't bring myself to do it. :confused3

Bear - it's going to start being every other month now, with Nico wanting to move to Germany. The sacrifices I make :worried:

Made it home, safe and sound, with grandma and her cat. Great flight. Gotta love Jet Blue. Smoothest touchdown ever.

The "Even More Speed" lane at MCO was super quick. :thumbsup2

Wife noticed she lost an earring while boarding on the gangway.
Just found it in her purse. :cool1:
Must have fallen right in the purse. lol.

Glad you were able to make it home safely with MIL. Now you will have a peaceful Thanksgiving and Christmas with your BFF.

Did you end up losing weight? I gained 4lbs, but lost 3 since I've been home. I really need to stop handing the waiter the dessert menu while responding, "yes please" 3 desserts a night is not a good idea, but I did skip the main course quite often. :thumbsup2

My BFF.... :lmao:

I forgot to weigh myself right before we left. I don't think I lost weight. I'd bet I stayed the same. I did try to eat more this sailing.
I was constantly on the move while away, much more so than at home.

I never have time to eat at home and I never have desserts after dinner.

Bear, who was your server and we're you happy with the service?

Ronald was our server, Alex his assistant. I was happy with the service. My milk was slow until I said something like "It's OK to have two or three glasses of milk on the table for me." The rest of the family seemed to have their drinks and even refills, yet not I. Weird. :confused3 I believe the third night I said something. Now I did show up with a mixed drink every night, so maybe that confused him. I would only drink that until the entree arrived, often not finishing it, then I wanted to switch to milk. I know... I'm weird.

Did anyone order that Halloween Spider Cake?

We did the last night for Samantha's B day celebration 3 days early.

He said it was not on any menu as they didn't want to make 4000 of them.
400 fine, 4000 not. :rotfl: I added a link to it here a while back.

We did get a booth in EG which was cute.

Forgot to mention wife and I have mild land sickness. Nothing like 2 years ago getting off the Fantasy after Sandy. GC boat was rocking a lot in the sound to see rays, snorkel, and starfish. CC boat rocking a lot for an hour to para-sail. If I double the Bonine dose it helps more. But I'm a big guy.

Never happen before until the Sandy sailing. no problems aboard, just afterwards, weird.

They brought out two spider cakes for our tables. This time and for the Aug 30th cruise on the last night, but both times I had the same rotation eating in EG the last night. I didn't ask for it either time, they just presented it to us

I hope your wife is feeling better. She is so friendly :) Today is the first day the rocking seemed to subside for me. Now I am just my usual flakey self :lmao:

My sea legs are finally going away, I'll have to make a mental note for next time. I don't remember them lasting as long last time, but our last cruise was a 4 night. Length of cruise must correlate how long sea legs stick around :thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure I gained weight, but not as much as I could have. We took the stairs a lot. Being too impatient for a line at the elevators makes sure I work off at least a few calories. I think I had dessert every night except Pirate Night. We took advantage of late night buffet instead. Ice cream and crepes :woohoo:

I won't let my kids (or myself) to take the elevator except when we are lugging our luggage off the ship the last morning. There are a few reasons, the most obvious is that there are people that truly need the elevator. My family does not need it, so we can leave it for those that don't have the option to walk. The other is safety. It's just not good to be on the elevator by yourself at a younger age. Things can happen anywhere, but it HAS happened on the elevator more than one time. Plus, it helps lower the weight gain. So, my family avoids them..

I missed the Pirate party that night. My 10yo said she just wanted to watch the fireworks from the balcony and not deal with the crowds. Love that girl :thumbsup2

I Went into this cruise fully expecting to gain weight, which I did. So I pre-planned by losing 10 lbs precruise..lol. Gained 6 lbs when I checked post cruise, mostly because I love dessert and the desserts I had were all so great. I sampled almost every dessert every night... Lol. I completely forgot about the pirate buffet even though our server reminded us about it at our dinner. Our server also brought out the spider cake without ordering it or anything, which my son dug into because it was presented in front of him.

That spider cake was delicious!! My table mate ate one completely, like blink and it was gone. I always had my waiter bring ice cream with all the desserts. My favorite is the Lava cake, but it's so rich you need ice cream to eat with it.:thumbsup2 I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one ordering many many desserts. LOL!

You had a net loss of 4lbs!! That is awesome. I've got .5lbs to lose before I am back to precruise weight.

I drink coke, however I do not like the taste of the soda on the Fantasy at all. It doesn't taste right to me, so that helped keep my weight gain to a minimum.

Just completed a very detailed DCL survey focused on the Halloween on the High Seas events and consumables.

DCL asked what was missing, I answered adult candy, lol. :)

Anyone else get this survey?

It hard getting back to the regular work schedule after sailing.

I got it but can't get it to open.

I got it but can't get it to open.

Ours wouldn't open initially too, then one day it opened.

So .... you guys are the ones with us on GC w/Native Way to stingray city, snorkel, and starfish, right?
I saw the still pics I took and the one of all of you with the kids napping in your laps came out great.

Still have to look and figure out this unfamiliar video camera. I know I got some great video of you and the littlest one.

Some day we will forward these pics and video.

Hope you all enjoyed the rest of the cruise as much as we did.

You do have your settings here, where if a PM is sent you get an email notification, so we can contact you? I'll have to ask the wife if she still has your contact info.

It was great meeting you all. You have a wonderful family.
And what a fearless trooper your littlest one is. ::yes::

Sounds like GC was a blast with the stingrays but it wasn't us! :) We used to live in GC so we went back to or old condo and played on Seven Mile Beach for the morning.
Never could get the survey to work. I bummed because I love surveys!
