I like my coworkers, we find things to laugh at every day. I love what I do, just not the politics of our facility.

This is exactly the way I feel about my job in the UK - it must be the same the world over! Our problem is under-staffing and a rising birth-rate. They keep us at minimal staffing levels so that when someone calls in sick you are really struggling, and the other night they had to close the unit. The manager says we need 20 more midwives to cope with the demands of the rising birth-rate, but the purse strings are held by the hospital administrators and ultimately by the government, and so it never happens!

But on a day to day basis my colleagues and I do enjoy our work, and it is still an honour to be able to share such an important event with families, and like you say we have a few laughs at things which happen. If only they could give us the extra staff we need and we then wouldn't be so burnt out and tired all the time!

I so hear you TotallyAngelic! Our staffing has not changed in 14 years but patient acuity sure has. The administration just won't acknowledge it. All you can do is go in and do your job and hope things don't go bad around you.

On another note, I am really looking hard at relocating to florida. If we decide to go before the cruise we might cancel so we can get moved. I did find a house I want. My Dh will transfer both his jobs and I have found several places to apply close to the house. I am going to WDW next month with some girls and I might spend a day looking at houses.

we Just worked for 2 hours on the computer about weather or not to cancel this cruise ........

I know it is almost a joke for us now.

But after we got to tinking about it.......
It is really a bad time to take the kids out of school.

BUT!!!!!!!!! after all that working it out with our DVC points it is still the best way for us to go for the time being!!!!!!!!!

SO SAIL ON!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

For those of you who have cruised before.....is there a hook on the door to hang the shoe hanger onto, as the ones I am looking at on Ebay have a loop type of thing which needs a hook to hang on. I don't seem to be able to find any which actually hang "over" the door with a built in hook.

This is the type of thing I can find - is this what you all use, or is it something completely different:

I see there is a place to ask the seller a question.......

I would ask if it comes with a hook for the door

Most of them no matter what the type.........usually come with metal hooks that go over the door and then stick out a bit for you to slip the shoe bag on to.

Most are 2 hooks but seems that this one would have one hook maybe a large one...they usually are sold with the hooks.

Sarah, this is the style we have and found MOST useful on our cruises - thanks to the DIS boards we knew to buy one and take it!! If you look you can see the three white hooks at the top of the hanger that go over the top of the door frame.

yeah my neighbors are going on the cruise with us! yeah they confirmed it last night and are really excited, this is their first cruise of any kind- EVER! so im gonna be getting her set up on here and hopefully in time for saturdays chat. their names are Rob and Missy. Okay, I tried to find the post about moving to lakeland. Who was it that lives there and there is a house close by for sale? I am heading that way in 2 weeks house hunting. We will be down there for 2 days looking in Lakeland, Auburndale and Winter Haven. We have had enough of winter and the cold. I have had it with where I work. Working on getting my license endorsement so I can get a job down there. It looks like a lot of very nice hospitals in the area.Dh is going to take a transfer. If we find something we may have to cancel the cruise so we can move. Hate to miss it but next time we will be closer to port. I will keep you posted.
