I love the first one but they all sound funny. The first one is hard to say fast 10 times:rotfl2: I am so up for this. Glad we start next week. I have half a cherry pie to eat!

here's a few variations on the theme:

"double dipping cruiser losers"

"from beached whales to skinny dippers!"

Not long to go now until we start - I am really looking forward to it! We have a few plans for January / February, including a lot of sorting out around the house and some work on the kitchen, so hopefully that will distract me from eating! I also want to start thinking about costumes! pirate: and making a few other cruise items eg. the fish extenders and the door magnets! I am so last minute with everything that I really want to be organised and stress-free when it comes to preparing for this holiday!

Hockeychic - that is a very cute tattoo - I am too much of a wimp to ever have one myself - I was bad enough when I had my ears pierced !!! :scared:

Thanks, I love my tattoo

I love the first one Lynn, I don't go to the community board very often so not sure how fast does that thread move??? Will we have a problem finding our thread??? Oh I can't wait to start. It makes it so much more accountable to have people you have to report to on your highs, lows and to help each other.

I will set the thread up where ever you guys want, doesn't matter to me....I am great at organizing but horrible at making decisions....LOL except when it comes to my vacations....:lmao:

Well DH, had the flu over Christmas and guess what....DD has it now....I hope it stops there, DS has been working alot so hopefully he has been out of the house enough to have not caught it, but I ahve played and am playing nurse to both and I have a trip to disney for a 1/2 marathon in about 2 weeks.....I am just hoping I don't catch it!!!!!!

Totally: I am also going to make a fish extender, not exactly sure what they are for but I have seen a few photos and I guess I need to get creative. Looks like a little mail slot system is that right???

So let me know where you want the new thread for the weight loss gang.....

Kim

Hey there, since I am such a pro now at putting photos on the boards, I though I would share a photo of Mike and myself, so you can put a face to the name

Kim

yikes, forget it that photo was to much of a close up....lol

ok lets try this one. This is my family taken at my sisters house during our family reunion in Aug 07

Kim - that is a great family photo! I love the way the room is decorated aswell, that border at the top is really homely. Hope your DD recovers from the flu soon and that you don't catch it! Both myself and my DD have really bad headcolds at the moment and feel a bit under the weather!

I'd like to join the weight loss group too. I joined another one months ago, obviously I didn't stick with it. I need all the support I can get.

I haven't even thought about the cruise in months.

Oh my i think about the cruise at least once a day if not more!!!!!!

Count me in too for the weight loss group :wizard:
it is easy enough to put a link in this thread for us to find the thread

Hope everyone is good

Lynn

So sorry for that - although if it cheered you up after a bad day then it can't be a bad thing - homely here in the UK means sort of warm, cosy and welcoming  and something which makes a nice home. :goodvibes

I also think about the cruise about 200 times a day! I also pop onto this thread about 5 times a day and I am constantly reading trip reports! This afternoon I am going to start a cruise packing bag, to put away some clothes which I want to keep until the cruise. I may also write a list of things I will be needing to buy / make etc before the cruise.

and by the way - do you all know that today is the day that we drop down below the "300 days to go" point - as of today it is 299 days and counting until we are getting on board the Magic!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hey there gang, glad to know I am not alone in wanting to drop some pounds before the cruise.

Jackie, sorry to hear about your back, take it easy and hope it feels better soon. I will start the thread on the community board on Jan 1st so it doesn't get buried, if you can do the link thing or tell me how to do it I would appreciate it. I have no idea...

Lynn and Sarah: homely also means ugly in Canada, but funny thing is I read homey....lol I had to go back and read it when I saw Lynn's post. This is at my sisters house, and it was that way when she bought the house.

Aneille: I also think about the cruise many, many times a day. THe minute I book a cruise, the lists come out and I start my obsessing...I mean planning:rolleyes1 ;)

Wow under 300 days, yipeeee, I was just glad to be able to soon say I am cruising this year.

Well off to watch my neighbours son play hockey, he is 7 and going to be goalie today and is very excited, most of the street is coming to watch, doesn't hurt that the arena is just outside our subdivision. Then gotta go out for a 8K walk....then not sure.

How many of you leave your Xmas decorations up till at least Jan 1??? We have always done that, a superstitous thing but I really want to take them down now but I am holding off. That is your usual route in taking down the decorations??

Kim

We take them down after Jan 1st usually.

We've been doing the hockey thing this weekend too. My 6 yr old and my 4 yr old DD's play. Just got back from my 4 year olds game and headed out soon to take my 6 year old to her game this afternoon.

Yesterday 2 hrs of hockey too.

My 6 year old had to play goalie once last year during her instrucational league time and she hated it so this year no goalie gear for us. My 4 year old is small for her age and so even if she wanted to play goalie she wouldn't fit into the goalie pads our team supplies. Her hockey pants barely fit!

Here in the UK one common superstition is to keep the Christmas decorations / tree etc up until the 6th January (12 days of Christmas) but my interpretation of the 12 days of Christmas is 6 days before and 6 days after, which means they can come down on 31st December! I usually however leave them up until the 1st of January, but this year I am working a 12 hour shift on the 1st, so I will take all the decorations down on the 2nd (to be honest I am always glad to see the back of them as I always get the urge to give the house a good de-clutter and clean up in January / February.

Another tradition here is to make New Year's Resolutions - do you do this in the USA / Canada?

I myself have a few, as always.....

1. to actually stick to my new years resolutions!

2. to become more healthy - this incorporates healthy eating, weight loss and more exercise, with the particular aims of starting a weekly exercise class of some sort, going back to my tap dancing and getting down to 9 and a half stone before my cruise.

3. to de-clutter this house completely and sort out all the stuff which I have been planning to sort out since we moved in here.

our specific aims re. house this year are:

1.to do something with the kitchen just to tide us over until the big renovations of 2009 / 2010.

2. to completely do our bedroom.

I also want to get a new computer system, to finish saving for the 2008 cruise / Florida holiday as soon as possible and then and to start saving for 2009 holidays ( possibly skiiing in Jan / Feb 2009, an adults only cheapie med cruise with friends in October 2009, and hopefully Disneyland Paris in July 2009)

Now they say if you write things down then it's easier to get things acheived ....so hopefully..........:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Hi everyone :wave2:
299 DAYS & COUNTING YAY :cheer2: :cheer2:
Personally I can't wait to get the Xmas decs down now & get on with 2008. We have all been far to pre-occupied with cruise planning to get overly enthusiastic about Xmas this year!! I have just started a 'cruise bag' with some clothes we bought in the sales this week. I even managed to get both DD's an evening dress each for formal night, at half price. I could have cried when I first saw them step out of the fitting rooms wearing them...they both looked so grown up all of a sudden. We spoke to some old friends yesterday who have just come off of a 3 day cruise on the Wonder. It was their first cruise and they absolutely raved about it. Apparently the only bad thing was that it wasn't nearly long enough. Now we're even more excited...if that's possible :yay:

Sarah..so sorry to hear that you & Taryn aren't feeling to well. I have had a bit of an upset tummy for the last few days, but nothing serious enough to prevent me from dipping into the sweetie tin at fairly frequent intervals!! My excuse is that there's no point in me starting a diet until they're all gone!

We did have a laugh about the different meanings of the expression 'homely'. Just goes to show we don't actually speak the same language!!

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS:
1. Re-decorate Dining Room.......definate
2. Tidy up front garden......possible but unlikely!!
3. Loose 10 lbs in weight.....(may manage 7 lbs!)
4. Get eldest DD to do her own ironing......last years resolution...very iffy
if not impossible :rotfl2:

HAVE A GREAT NEW YEARS EVE EVERYONE party:

When i came home from work today......MY TREE was down! My DH does LOVE ME!!!!:cool1: :cool1:

That was really the only decorations we had up except a very few lights in the yard which my DS is in charge of. SO HAHAHA they could be there until the cruise!!!!!!!:lmao:

Well my NEW Years resolutions are kind of up in the air...they were to reorganize my house and redecorate............BUT now DH is looking for a new position in his job so we may move to a different house so that all is on hold.

My only one at this point is LOOSE WEIGHT!
And get in shape!!!!

We had also thought about going to Disney Paris in 2009 but i think that will go on the back burner until maybe 2013 as we were going to do it for DS gradutaion gift but now he does not want that now ( he wants a cruise every year until he cant use the stack any more) and we will hold off for DD graduation gift!

We are going out to dinner to night.........and maybe tomorrow night and maybe the next night......to get it all out of my system, BEFORE I START MY DIET!!!!!!!

CUZ then it will be carrots and cucumebrs and celery!!!!!!!! YUM YUM!!!!

Here in Newfoundland we still have very strong ties to our British heritage, so we also keep our decorations up until January 6th - which we refer to as Old Christmas Day. Although I must admit, ours tend to come down a day or two after New Years, depending on when we get time. But it drives my dad NUTS when we take them down "early" - which is before the 6th. If I took them down now, even DH would look at me funny - and he usually starts making comments about them coming down right after New Years Day dinner!

As for resolutions - I usually don't make them because I am useless at keeping them! :rotfl:. Can't believe we're below the 300 mark, though - awesome!

Happy New Years everyone! We will be the first part of North America to reach 2008 - we're in a special time zone that's a half hour ahead of everyone else on this side of the pond. We have fireworks planned for the kids - hopefully the weather will co-operate! Anyone else with plans for tomorrow night?

Valerie
