October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

HI GUYS..........

I bet yoiu guys are excited!!

Just wanted to stop in and say hey as i know you are leaving soon!

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Just sitting here reading through all the posts and I am so gosh darn anxious I can't stand it. Today just seemed to drag at work. Probably because I can't wait to get out of there. :scared1: Sometimes you work with a co-worker who is just a pain in the butt!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry but I have a co-worker who has such bad habits I can't wait to leave. We are a small office of 4 people and when you have one that has very bad habits, eats with her mouth open, clears her throat constantly, and I mean constantly, interupts every conversation going on, the only one who knows anything, etc. it does wear on a person. And I am worn out. It is so bad that even when she takes a day off everyone is like take two, they go so fast! So, I can't wait to be gone for 7 work days. Sorry, but I had to vent.

We heard from our friends who live in Florida, and they are going to meet up with us Friday at EPCOT. God I can't wait. :woohoo: We have not seen them in over a year. My DH and David worked together in the military and were very close. They traveled a lot together and they both helped each other build our houses. However, David sold his and moved to Florida! They keep trying to get us to move down, and we have considered it, but both of our families are here and the kids don't want to move. And we have never lived anywhere else other than Iowa! How boring. We really are starting to hate, hate, hate, the winters. Who needs snow, not us! So once both girls are out of high school, who knows.

Well, I have to make a monkey bread for the oldests DD's marching band breakfast tomorrow morning, and trust me, I'm not the best baker! Oh, well, part of being a mom. I'll do anything for my girls. They are the world to me.

Can't wait to meet on Saturday!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I just learned what monkey bread was today!!! Someone at my daughter's dance class was talking about it and how easy it is to make. Never heard of it before today!

We will leave Wednesday night right after we feed all of our critters. :woohoo:

I am so looking forward to seeing my db.

I have been slowly checking things off of my "to do" list. Tomorrow I need to fix a shelter for the goats, buy goat feed, the boys are getting their hair cut, I have to pick up some prescriptions from the pharmacy, return a library book, go to the bank, stop by my moms, pick up dry cleaning, finish packing, errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I just wanna leave. :scared1: stop...breathe......think "Disney Magic" over and over again :cloud9: It will all be worth it soon...very soon.princess: pirate: dd and ds will be in the club and  me and dh will be strolling deck 4 or whatever:rolleyes1

Everyone have a safe trip down and see ya soon!!!

Karen

Oh, and it looks and smells so good. Wish we could try it. But it will be taken away in the morning for school. Hope the kids like it. :yay:

OOH!

Just remembered something.

Take some preprinted address labels for your departure luggage tags (when we have to leave the ship) so that you don't have to fill in the tag with all the information. That way the only stuff you are filling in is minimal!

Bring the labels, save your hands!!!

AHHHHHHH:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: This is getting way too stressfull!! We are now up to 6 bags. 1 big suitcase, 1 medium, garment bag, 2 smaller bags and the toiletry bag!! The restrictions on the no of oz. o0f liquid is a pain in the butt. Having a family of 5 I travel with full size products. Well I have to find a way to cut out a bag or pay the fee.

Has anyone ever used the travel space bags? Do they really make a difference? I bought them, but I'm not surte its worth the effort to put everything into bags!! They don't alot in each bag.

That's not even the real stressor in my life right now. My DS just finished 2 weeks of being sick got ok from doctor yesterday, This am DD sounds terrible. I started her on nebulizer treatments, I called in to work will have to take to the doctor. 4 days until we leave, she has to get better!!

Everyone, have a safe trip getting to the boat!! I just printed my boarding passes.....yikes!!! It'll be here before we know it!!!

We always rent a car and drive from WDW to the port, my DH drops me off with all the bags (my DS goes with him to return the car). By the time he gets back (shuttle), the porters have taken everything except our carry-ons and I manage to haul those up to security. It works out perfectly!! It only costs about $40.00 for the 3 of us to rent the car for the day.

Time for my last day at work before we leave....amen to that!

We are planning on doing this on Saturday. A question - can I check us all in if my DH is returning the car? I was thinking if I had all the passports etc. it would be ok. He would have a DL to get in through security - but if he takes the kids, will they have a problem getting through security?

CANT WAIT!!!

I haven't tried "space bags", but I do like BIG zip lock bags. If you squeeze the air out of the bags then seal them your clothes will not get as wrinkled, you save space in your suitcase, and it could protect your clothes from whatever happens to the luggage behind the scenes. On one cruise (not DCL) it was rainy as we boarded and I watched the baggage handler throw DD's suitcase into a puddle that had formed in the luggage wagon. The suitcase is dirty to this day, but her clothes did not get wet. Also, putting the kids stuff in bags helps keep it sorted once on boat (esp. undies and socks) Good luck,

Michelle

MARY! The liquid restriction is ONLY for carryons! You can pack whatever size in your checked bag!!!!!! Oh, please don't freak out! No panic attacks today! This is supposed to be fun!

I have used Space Bags. They are nice for size restrictions (smaller bags) but really do nothing for the weight restrictions. The clothes weigh what they weigh. No changing that. It does make it easier if you are trying to seperate clothes, etc. Other than that, we just use gallon zip lock bags now (I seperate the girls clothes by day. Each bag holds all they need for that day so that I can tell Tori to get her Cinderella shirt bag and there's everything she needs to get dressed.)

Good luck to DD on getting better! Oh no one should be sick on vacation!!! Nebulizers are just so much fun, aren't they? UGH!

Well I realized this morning that I totally forgot to pack the kids casual shoes!!! They had pool shoes and fancy shoes and whatever they would wear to the airport but nothing else!!! No sandals, nada! See, this is not quite as bad as forgetting the diapers but ....well, it ranks up there! Gosh, now what else did I forget?? Can't be anything else!!

I know, I know...no panic attacks. Does not being able to sleep count? :surfweb:

Still haven't put a single thing in a suitcase, but everything is laid out and ready to go. So that's still okay....I think....

I do use space bags and I like them. I also LOVE the individual day ziploc bags for the girls. I do that for Sofia for her two-week summer camp (14 days of undies, socks, and clothes-no laundry-talk about a challenge!). I hadn't thought of doing that for the cruise, but now I think I will!

Our last bits of pirate gear showed up yesterday. DH's pirate stuff is really nice and WAY better than what I could have made! And yes, we are ALL dressing up for Halloween.

Back to shoes-forgot the girls have boots for pirate night, so they are at six pairs (each). I'm considering bringing two pairs of black boots (different styles) for my two costumes. Is this getting excessive?

Going to get our online pre-registration done now....have a good day, everyone!

O.k., now I am planning to bring an insulated refillable..., but those bubba Kegs would fill my largest suitcase. How did you get that many onboard? They are huge ! I would be moving like this fella:cool1: on my way to the restroom every hour.:rotfl2: they look as though they would have the same "waist" measurement as the child in the picture.:lmao:

:rotfl: :rotfl:

yep, we did go a bit overboard but that was 2 years ago when they didn't have these ridiculous bag restrictions.

I think that DIS group on the 11 night South Caribbean cruise had about 300+ members and many could not find them at their local walmarts so we bought up all we could find for people that wanted them and had a bag that was just for all the DIS group. :)

 Have a great cruise everyone!!!!!!!!!

It worked out great that we are not going with you in terms of our personal plans, but I will so miss you guys and be sooo jealous! :sad1: :flower3:

Hey, Shyla!!! Boy, I think this is #5 of "names from previous cruise" I've heard from in the last few days....Roses, Trish, Phil and Lisa, OHJulie, and always Barb since she's my TA!

So excited here to finally be going! Will be so much fun, will miss the familiar faces but new ones are great too!!!

Have fun on your cruise! About 6 more months, right?

Hi everyone. So sorry I have been MIA.... I have just been sooo tired... everything is catching up with me. At least I am having a productive day at work (yesterday was good too - all 12 hours of it)...

Sorry I missed chat... I got home about 8 and had crashed by 830....

I know there is no panicking, but I fear I am getting complacent... (I am very, "yeah, so... I dont care" right now) Will try to snap out of it...

Oh yeah... and some PD pixiedust: pixiedust: for the USPS... They are shipping my three boxes of FE stuff, room decor, etc... down to Florida today! That's right, bringing it all to the post office today... Shipping Priority so it shouldn't be a problem... hopefully.... Of course, none of it is put together yet... wil spend friday doing that in our hotel room! UGH!

:confused3 Perhaps this has been asked before, but wanted to know if you sign your FE gifts or keep them secret. :confused3
Thanks in advance for the answers.
