October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

....Yes Jenn I TOTALLY requested to stay as far away from you as possible! :rotfl2: so who else has their room #'s? come on people we have been waiting for EVER for these remember? so where are all you people?! 29 days and counting! wh:cool1: oop whoop!

Congrats you guys! That's so awesome you finally got your room #'s!!!!

Jenn, I have to laugh! Those poor people in that section don't know what they're in for! You're in 6124, Staci is in 6126 (right next door!), we're in 6130 and AuntLynne is in 6134!!!! How funny is that?!

Keep the cabin #'s coming, my fellow cruisers!!! I'm updating as fast as I can!!!

We got 6089 and 6099 - (us in 6089 and kids in 6099) 6089 is next to the laundry so I hope no one is doing their washing in the wee small hours!
We were upgraded from CAT 12 to CAT 11, not quite the upgrade I was hoping for but an upgrade all the same, so :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

and the big plus is - middle to aft of the ship and close to elevators!:woohoo:

One Month!:cool1: One Month!:cool1: One Month!:cool1:

Someone pinch me ....
Between now and DCL time I have to get through: Rosh Hashanah (complete with Red Eye to Chicago), Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simchat Torah; DH's 33rd birthday party; DH being at a work retreat for three days; and our first anniversary.

I just keep repeating: Cabana Massage...Serenity Bay... Cabana Massage...Serenity Bay

I forgot all of your High Holidays were coming up Shosie! L'shanah tovah to you and yours!

We do a pulpit exchange here with the Cantor of the local temple. He is such a wonderful and funny man. In fact, I convinced him to write a monthly article for my churches newsletter, The Parish Guide. I really think the article he put in our September issue is one we could all use from time to time so I hope no one minds that I am going to post it here:

A Message
from the Cantor
by Cantor Richard Wolberg
Temple Beth-El

I hope you have all had a restful summer. Jewish people everywhere are getting ready for the High Holidays which consists of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, followed 10 days later by Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.
The question is asked how one prepares for this. A famous story is told of a man who sat before one of the wise sages of his time by the name of Rabbi Mordecai. It was very close to Rosh Hashanah and the man nervously asked the rabbi to be dismissed. The scholarly rabbi asked: "Why the hurry? Where do you have to go so quickly?" The man answered: "I am the cantor and must look into the prayer book to put my prayers in order." The rabbi quickly responded: "The prayer book is the same as last year. It would be better to look into your deeds and put yourself in order!"
This is the key lesson for our preparation for these solemn, awesome, High Holidays. We must put ourselves in order. Some of you may remember the famous rye bread commercial: "You don't have to be Jewish to love Levy's."** Now the same could be said of this: "You don't have to be Jewish to put yourselves in order. This is a task that is mandated by decency and responsibility. We each have the moral obligation to put our lives in order, to right the wrongs of the past and to correct the faults of the present.
All faiths have much to learn from each other. Nevertheless, the common denominator is decency, caring and sensitivity. I have such a warm feeling for my friends at the First Congregational Church, as well as its clergy, present and past. I look forward to many more years of genuine camaraderie, brotherhood and unity.
As some of my Christian friends say "Merry Christmas" to me around their holiday, I say "Happy New Year" to you, my dear friends of the Church. May we together, go from strength to strength.

Enjoy your holidays Shosie!

Congratulations everyone on the up grades

Shalom aleichem, chaver.

Shoshie, we've always wanted to go downtown to see the Festival of the Tents on the mall. I remember reading an article from a practicing Jew that told of how to make your own tent. I thought how cool would that be! We've done the Esther Festival before and the kids really enjoyed it and been first hand witnesses to Shabbat in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. So this would be a new one.

So maybe this will be the year we go. I would hope. Maybe we'll take pictures. But I will always remember you guys now on those holidays.

I can't wait to talk to you on the cruise. Oh, and Adam of course!!! ;)

Thank you Suzie and Jenn...

The Tents sound really interesting. I don't think we'll have our own sukkah this year (plenty of space, no time), but we go to the one at our synagogue.

Jenn, that was a very nice post. :thumbsup2

My mom is making Taiglach this year (dough balls rolled in honey and nuts). I hope to be able to make my grandmother's peanut butter and jelly bars or applesauce cupcakes.

We literally spend two weeks planning what we will eat, making it and then eating it.... :cool2:

That is what I figured. Boy! Am I glad you were thinking... I was so worried that I was going to be stuck on the same side of the ship as you! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:  :lmao: :rotfl2:

Any chance you have room for your lost long sister you never had??????

That recipe sounds great! I may have to make that sometime soon. Or is this a special recipe that is only supposed to be made during a feast/holiday?

Just to make sure I didn't miss anyone, the three families whose stateroom numbers were just added this morning were:

jenn&nelsonrego - 6124
mommy2777 - 6518
TotallyAngelic - 6089, 6099

If you did post your stateroom number, please check post #1 to ensure it is on the list

Thanks!
SEE YA REAL SOON!

Janice - I see on your ticker that you will be staying at the Boardwalk on 10/22. We will be there late on the 23rd. Had a hard time deciding on whether to do MNSSHP or Wine and Food Fest and Wine and Food won out. Probably because we have season passes and don't have to buy an extra ticket. We have done MNSSHP for the last 3 years. It is a blast. :yay: Maybe we will meet before the cruise then. We are taking the DCL transportation to the cruise on Saturday. I can't wait :) In my mind, I'm already there

Yes! We are staying at the Boardwalk and I can't wait! We did get MNSSHP tickets for 10/23 - we did it back in 2004 and did the MCMCP last year - so we are looking forward to it! We will have a couple of cruise virgins with us (they are staying one night at POFQ) so we opted for private transfer on Saturday morning so we could get there bright and early!

Morning, fellow cruisers (can't say Good because it hasn't been but that's for another time...). Updating all my DCL info online because we've had some flight changes, etc since I orginally filled it in. Make sure you get yours done beforehand - makes check in go so much smoother!

For those of you with allergies and other medical conditions, don't forget that DCL need the medical form signed and faxed back 14 days prior to the cruise. The form is downloadable from their website, also.

Now, on to the QOTD:

When we get to Castaway Cay, do you plan on going in the water or just staying/sunning/snoozing on the beach?

As long as there's no jellyfish or other "things" there, we will go in the water. The girls both love the water and I just won't let them out there on their own, even with life/swim vests. We do build lots of sandcastles on the waters edge too. Mommy found that she can sit in her little chair and still participate! I do plan on sunning a bit and snoozing a bit (if it could happen!!) but we will happily be doing a bit of both! Yeah!

I'm sure DS will jump right in followed by the rest of us

Hi Suzie! Hope the rest of your day is "gooder" than your morning! Sending :goodvibes your way!

QOTD:

All of the above... I plan on heading right over to Serenity Bay (the one good thing about not having children) and dragging a chair into the water... Napping on a hamock... snorkeling... floating... :cloud9: reading... drinking... not necessarily in that order... :beach:

Oh! And I missed yesterdays QOTD... I guess my first would be Cinderella... but I do love Beauty and the Beast, Alladin, Little Mermaid, and Lion King too... In fact, the other day I say down to watch Lion king 1.5 or 2.5 (can't remember the name)... Love Timon and Pumba!!! Actually, I do not think there is a Disney movie that I did not like...

HAKUNA MATATA!
