October 22, 2005 Roll call

Another Welcome to Dyerneeds :wave2: My parents are also celebrating their 30some wedding anniversary on board :goodvibes ...I beleive it's their 35th :smooth:

Threesmiths...I wondered that also (about if you got an upgrade...that you didn't want.....) When I thought about it...I don't know that you would be able to do anything about it...because as they upgrade you and move you into a new cabin...I'm guessing they're putting someone else in your cabin...so it could be a MESS. I wonder how many people get unexpected upgrades...that don't want it. Even though we picked the cabin (Catagory and location) that we wanted..I don't think I'd be unhappy getting an upgrade  But then again it would SUCK getting moved to a not so good location.... :smooth:

Well were busy having our yard sale today :confused3 Talk about a MESS... I so badly didn't want to spend the weekend this way....but heck we've already made a few hundred dollars  and we've only been going for 1/2 day....we still have the rest of today and tomarrow :confused3....

Speaking about the yard sale...I better get back out there...I left Jesse outside alone :earboy2:

Robin, I agree, anything but DCL would be a disappointment, Sherry and I are cellebrating our 32nd anniversary (actually 9/15) we cellebrate with a cruise each year. This year we will be the second cruise on Magic after it comes from Dry Dock, also some new changes are on the way, its hard to wait.

Welcome aboard Dyerneeds,
Wow, 30 years! Congrats! Hubby and I will be celebrating our 7th Wedding Anniversary on board.

ThreeSmiths,
Yes if you can get a cabin it's a very good deal. I have read that from an outside cabin (like our cat 9) to a verandah cabin is about $300 at the port. When I originally booked, it would have been $1200 MORE for a verandah and if I wanted to change it TODAY it would be $1700 more!!! So, yes for $300 I would upgrade to a verandah but not for $1200 or $1700!!!

I have also read that if you absolutely don't want an upgrade, for instance you booked a specific cabin for a reason, you should note it on your reservation and then Disney won't upgrade you, otherwise, if they do, you are out of luck and will get whatever cabin they upgrade you to.

Scrapperjill,

Hope your yard sale went well....we had one about a month ago and cleaned out a lot of stuff, and made some play money for the trip! A win-win situation, but definitely a LOT of work!

Timon,

WOW!!! That is a great deal! Definitely worth checking into! I never thought about that until you mentioned it. I always read about people requesting an upgrade at the terminal, but never thought about the price difference. That also makes sense about DCL upgrading you for free. Last year we booked a GTY 12 and got upgraded to a 10, but it was quite possibly the noisiest room on the ship! This year we decided to try a 6 and picked our location after much research. So while a free upgrade would be great, for me the value would really depend on the location.

Well...Yard sale went okay...were still doing it tomarrow  ...but your right...it's a win win situation :goodvibes We had a ton of stuff in the garage to get rid of....so why not make some money with it :smooth: ....I have my fingers crossed that we'll do as good tomarrow...

I've never had a yard sale this late in the year...and I really don't think I'll wait this long again....we had most of our "bussiness" within the first three hours...the rest of the day it was perty dead.

Anyway....we didn't have anything else planned for this weekend...and now we have a few hundred dollars to put towards the trip...

Oh...did I tell you all...we told the kids last night about the "whole" trip :teeth: Up until then our WDW portion of the trip has been a secret...And let me say..it was a HARD one to keep...with 6 kids to keep the secret from....I think it almost sliped more time than I care to count. I think Alexis was starting to wonder what was up...She noticed I had the date we were leaving marked on the calander...but for some reason...it was a couple days before the cruise :smooth: ...so she was asking why we were flying out on the 19th but didn't cruise until the 22nd...I had to think quick and tell her I must have marked it down wrong...or hopefully I didn't book our flights that early :earboy2: Well one secret down...more to come :smooth: Anyways...all the kids were over joyed.....the whole dinner was crazy...and they couldn't wait to come home and tell their friends.

I can't wait until the yard sale is over...cuz that means it's time to START PACKING :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Welcome Dyerneeds :sunny:

Hello all, Deborah came up with question tonight, tho I think i know the answer is negative, but we are going to the world following our saturday return and going on sunday also for the Food & Wine show. Anywho, she wondered if we can get our park tickets on board prior to leaving to avoid the lines once at the world.
anyone else going to the Cirq (sp) on the 29th?

Thanks once again to all of you!

Hi MNmousecouple! No, you can't get your park passes on board. Are you going to be staying onsite at WDW after the cruise? If you are, you can buy your park passes (except for annual passes) at the resort when you check in. You could go straight from the ship to your resort and check in and get your passes. Your room probably wouldn't be ready, but they will hold your luggage for you (safer than leaving it in a car) and you can head out to the park for the day and your room will be waiting for you when you come back. If you aren't staying on site, I have heard that the guest relations/ticket desk at Downtown Disney is much less crowded than at the parks, so it might be worth a quick stop there.

Welcome Dyerneeds! 30 years! What a great way to celebrate, with a Disney Cruise. Congrats!!

Scrapperjill, good luck with Day 2 of you yard sale. We keep saying we are going to have one, but never seem to find the time to get everything together. I did one once, and it really was alot of work.

MNmousecouple, I believe you can order your tickets online and have them ready at the guest relations counter. That was what we were going to do for the MNSSHP, but then I decided to just have them mailed to me.

Thanks so much to everyone for the great welcome. I actually just found out we were going in July. My husband had booked this cruise in December of 2004 as a 30th anniv. surprise. I don't know how he kept it a secret so long. He said he was receiving little tidbits in the mail and had to hide them. He was getting so excited and couldn't share it. Our Anniversary is actually Oct. 18. I guess he couldn't take it anymore.

I have to say I sure am glad he told me when he did. I really need to take off a few lbs. before we go. You know how cruises are. (Too much food.)

Really looking forward to meeting everyone.
Waiting patiently :rolleyes1

Robin & Mike

Dyerneeds (Robin): What a great suprise for you! Your husband is really good at keeping secrets! I would never last. It's hard enough for me to keep anything a secret from DD. I just get too excited!

DH finally got to go scuba diving today :cheer2: !!! He had 3 of his last 4 scheduled dives cancelled by tropical storms/hurricanes, most recently last weekend with Ophelia. He left at midnight last night, drove 5 hours to Wilmington, NC, got on the dive boat at 7 a.m., and just got off the dive boat at about 6 p.m. Now he's driving 5 hours back....crazy, huh? Obviously he needed a scuba fix. Anyways, it gave DD and I a perfect oportunity to go to shopping for formalwear. We spent about 5 1/2 hours at the mall (most of it trying on dresses, but we did take some detours) and were successful in finding dresses for each of us. Now if I can just coax DH into the men's department to get a nice, black suit... :groom:

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to let you know that Kelly from the Sept 10th cruise is going to be mailing me copies of the Western navigators. As soon as I get them, I'll update our website with the "latest" info. If the copies are good enough to scan, I'll post them - otherwise, I'll post hilights. Of course, they could totally change stuff after the drydock and since we are the first Western after that, we'll be the guinee pigs....

:) Yard sale is OVER....and boy it is alot of work...I'm beat!!! But we did do okay $$$ overall.

About the WDW tickets...I think you can even buy them at a Disney store if you have one close to you. I can double check next week...were planning on making a trip up to Seattle for Sydney's Dr. apointment and stopping by a couple store while were there...the Disney store being one of them (you know a few last min suprise items for the girls)...and probably REI (they have a tote bag that I want BAD)

:cool1:

What a cool suprise your husband had for you...I'd LOVE to get one like that...but then again who wouldn't

Stacy...congrats on your shopping trip....arn't those fun ;) It reminds me..I need to go throught the girls shoes and make sure they have a dress shoe to wear on formal night...Oh well add to the list of "need to get"

Recent navagators...I can't wait. Even if they change some after dry dock...It should give us an idea of what may be instore. I'm secretly hoping that with the dry dock they'll change the Pirate night date...I can't understand why they pick Cozumel night to do it... :confused3

Dyerneeds - What a great Surprise!! I too couldn't keep a secret a secret to save my life, so he did a good job.

Threesmiths, I am glad Eric got a chance to finally go on a dive. Hopefully this will be the first of many (esp. while on the cruise).

New navigators will be great. I know each time we have gone I always tried to print them before hand just to get an idea of what was going on as well as who was working in the kids club (although I do know this could change).

Hi everyone,
We just booked this cruise a few weeks ago and was so happy to find this site. This is our first Disney cruise (and our first WDW vacation). We've done many cruises over the last 12 years but never one on Disney. We're native Californians and are season passholders at Disneyland. We're booked at the Wilderness Lodge beginning Oct 19th. We're a family of four...me, Dee (36), husband, David(39), daughter, Chelsea(13) and son, Tyler (5).
I just wanted to say "Hi" to all of you and thank you for all the invaluable tips and comments I've read so far. I can't wait to meet you and will register soon on the website.
Thanks again,
Dee

Welcome lilmamadee! Glad to have you join us!! You will find several tips on this board, not to mention a great group of 10/22 sailers! :teeth:

Kathy

Welcome Dyerneeds and lilmamadee!

Dyerneeds, what a great DH you have. I know I couldn't have kept a secret that long, and my dh is worse, lol.

lilmamadee, you will love staying at WDW. Wilderness Lodge is one of my favorite properties. I grew up near Disneyland and went there many times, and I still like to visit "the original" when I get a chance (most recently there in June with my dd6). WDW is wonderful, too -- a whole different experience.

Pamela, what a great idea to get those navigators. Can't wait to see them! I check your great site often for info. :)

Getting closer to having us all decked out for formal night, etc. Anyone else still shopping?

Welcome Lilmamadee :earboy2: Were going on our first WDW vacation before the cruise also.... :cool1: Checking in on the 19th too :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hey everyone....I'm still up for making the buttons. So if ANYONE is intrested shoot me a PM. And for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about....if you take a peek at Pdarrah's web page she created for us (10/22/05 cruisers) it tells you a little about the buttons. Or you can just ask me. :p But....the closer we get to the cruise date...the more likely I'm going to put a deadline down for requests to be in. So get yours in EARLY :teeth:

Hey everyone....been keeping tabs on this topic for a while. Our family of 4 will be on the Oct 22 cruise (we actually have my inlaws, plus my BIL's family going w/ us). Been holding back, but we received our cruise documents yesterday...so now I'm pumped.

Just wanted to say "hi" to everyone.

Hi everyone,

I see cruisers have been slowly receiving their docs. We've never been so anxious to get the mail. Just checked the mail... skunked again. (We feel like Ralphie on "A Christmas Story", waiting for his Little Orphan Annie secret decoder pin.)

I guess I'll just have to read The Passporter's Field Guide for the 3rd time. (Plenty of good info.)
