Good morning everyone...thanks again for the warm welcomes - I have a feeling it'll be a friendly cruise :teeth:

Thanks for the tip on hiring tux's. Makes more sense than taking up half the case with one nights outfit. :thumbsup2

Could he wear it to semi formal too? or is it too much fo that night? Just thinking of space again. Travelling for 19 days is hard enough when you only have to pack tshirts and shorts for 3 people in 2 cases :confused3

Cass - I love the website :cool1: - will be spending some time on there now too!

I have a question for you all...whats a tank top? Is it what we English call a vest top? - cotton thin straps fitted top? On the navigator I was looking at it said no tank tops or shorts even on casual night. Also, do they mean short shorts or long ones too? Hubby wears them all holiday - the canvas type with pockets? - will they be too casual on casual nights???? - oh god - I can see a clothes shopping trip coming on!

bye for now :wave2:

Hello all

Heres Elouise on her first day at school

http://s81.photobucket.com/albums/j...rent=DSCF0221.jpg&slideshow=paused&interval=3

No dramas or anything, straight into her class! :) It seemed the boys were more clingy than the girls! :rotfl:

Karen not sure about dress code, I think tank tops are like our vest tops. I do know people have worn 3/4 lenght shorts to dinner, though I think trousers are expected. If its very hot, we will dress for dinner, then go back to room and change to shorts or a sumer dress ( for me not Wayne :teeth: ) for the rest of the night. I assume the resturants have Air con?

Karen,
Where did you hear about the Oct '07 Drydock? I do know that the Magic is scheduled for Drydock after it returns from Europe. That will be in Sept. In fact our cruise should be only the second or third one after it's returned to sea. That is one of the biggest reasons that I picked this date. Close enough to the drydock to be fresh and far out enough to not be a problem should the drydock run late.

cntkg1,

That was funny! Loved your post! :rotfl:
Hope you have a great long week-end, sounds like fun fun fun!! Sad though that you are the only couple still together :guilty: But good for you guys!!! Have a ball!!

Karen Mouse,

Tank tops are basically tops without sleeves, some have solid type shoulders like a t-shirt with the sleeves cut off) and some have bra strap like shoulders. here's the link to google images of tank tops:

http://images.google.ca/images?q=tank+tops&hl=en

As for proper dining attire you will find as many opinions on this as you will find different kinds of tank tops :lmao:

Some people are die hard black and white about what Disney says about dining attire. If you are of this mindset, then any type of shorts, whether long or short are not permitted as well as any type of tank top!

Then there are people like me, personally as long as you don't show up to the table on Formal Night in shorts and a tee shirt, then you are fine! :rolleyes1
Some ladies' tank tops look quite nice and would not stick out at all. And the long shorts guys wear don't look much different to me than the capri pants a lot of women wear on casual nights.

I think it's a very personal choice, wear what you are comfortable in. Unless you wear something VERY tacky no one is going to say anything to you, no one is going to kick you out of the dining rooms and if you get "looks" from anyone, don't worry about it, it's their problem, not yours!

Everyone has a different opinion so you are never going to please everyone, just make sure you are comfortable and have fun!!

Here's two examples from our last cruise:

The first night, my ONE piece of luggage that I needed (all my cruise clothes!) didn't arrive until 10pm after dinner! All I had was shorts. They weren't jean cut offs or anything, nice black shorts. I had no choice, I had to wear them. I felt a little uncomfortable at first, some people were dressed to the nines even though the first night is casual. But I didn't let it spoil my dinner. Once I sat down, you couldn't even tell I was wearing shorts. :smooth: and by the time dinner was done, I didn't care, I was on a CRUISE!!!

And on pirate night, we dressed up early to go get some photos done. And even though we were wearing PROPER attire for the night, (heck it WAS Pirates in the Caribbean Night!!!) we received so many looks, some of them just weird looks, like "why on earth are you dressed up as pirates?" looks but surprisingly, we received MANY looks of almost disgust! I couldn't believe it!! I was so upset at this one lady (she was looking at us as if we just committed a huge crime or something) that I just HAD to say something. :rolleyes1 Here at home, I am quite vocal, heck, I am even somewhat of a grump you might say but on vacation I am totally different, always polite and kind and helpful. Well the not-on-vacation-Cass inside of me just couldn't let this pass so I ended saying something to her.

So like I was saying, you aren't going to please everyone, so just please yourself (without hugely offending anyone else) and just have fun!!!!!!!

popcorn::

Okay, I'm done :stir:

Jeff fell as silent as I did :cat: (must be a Wisconsin thing).

What you mean I've fell silent?!

I last posted on 9/6, only a week ago. You took a hiatus from the boards. Your last post was on 9/11.

I was going to post the other night questioning your where abouts.

I thought maybe you were getting all of us back and went to WDW this month secretively. By the way, did you know a mojority of the board is going to WDW in October? You've been gone so long I didn't know if you knew that. (just a friendly jab at my fellow Wisconsinite)

Not sure where you heard that it will be in Drydock in Sept 07. The ships usually go to drydock for 2 weeks in the beginning of October. Since the first Saturday in October in 07 is the 6th, 2 weeks will bring her out for the first sailing on the 20th.

I checked again on DCL's site and there are NO cruises MISSING from either Sept or Oct '07. Both the Wonder and Magic have all possible dates available to select a cruise.

Either they are not going to pull it next year or Thousands of people will be unhappy when their week is part of the 2 week drydock.

Hopefully we will know by October this year. I'm guessing that it gets announced when the 2008 dates are released (which was Oct 19th last year for 2007).

I still wonder if they look to see which 2 weeks have the lowest bookings or if it is standard for the first Saturday in October. :confused3

What? Who are you? You're not the Steve who started our thread and then left us are you?? :lmao:

:grouphug: There...will that keep you around?? :teeth:

My thoughts exactly. I was going to comment after seeing his post.

Like we do with all new cruisers:

WELCOME STEVE TO OUR CRUISE MEET. :rotfl:

Stop crying Nancy, we don't need anymore water around here in SE Wisconsin.

On a side note, my grass hasn't been greener in the past 4 years. I fertilized about a week before Noah started building the ark. I can't keep up with the grass cutting.

So, is it Grand Cayman before Cozumel for us or the other way around? :confused3

Never mind...I just looked it up on Timon's site. :woohoo:

My docs have it GC then Cozumel.

edited to add: How did you get this edited so quickly. I went to quote you and by the time it posted, the change was there. It was not there when I selected quote. Now I look like an idiot. Thanks a lot Nancy.

Now I could have just deleted my post, but why, I'd rather ramble on.

Ooh - you guys are super funny tonight! :rotfl2: Must be all that Wisconsin rain! Something in the water I guess!

Cass - I would love to know what you told that woman. Oh, to be a fly on the wall. Why on earth would anyone give you dirty looks? You're on your vacation for goodness sakes! Even if it wasn't pirate night, if you wanted to dress like one, then go for it! pirate:

Lindy - Elouise looks so cute. 1st day of school, I'll never forget my DD's 1st day! She only goes 3 days a week, and she begs every day! I'm so glad she she likes it, could be really bad if she didn't!

Just found out there will be a special sneak peak at the new Nemo attraction for DVC members, when we're there this Oct! How cool is that! Usually we have just the opposite luck, attractions closed for refurb while we're there. Can't wait!

Jeff - that's just really disturbing! :lmao: Make sure you get it in a bright dayglo color, maybe orange or neon green! And don't get it too small, it has to fit just right. Otherwise, it will just look like you're wearing luggage straps!

Shudder!

Shudder!

I think I'll go for the neon green, that is the official DIS color correct?

This can be how we identify each other. Everyone should wear one to the sail away party. I'm sure that we'll be able to find everyone from this thread (in the lock up, that is). :rotfl:

On the other hand, would it be suitable for Formal Night?

Now if I really wanted to get you gals going, I should have copied the picture to a file, emailed it to Cass and had her put it on the "who's going" page as a picture of me (without telling anyone it wasn't). :rotfl2:

I wonder if she would have even posted it. :scratchin

:rotfl: JLDSMD,
I rarely actually laugh out loud while on my computer but I must confess I almost spewed my iced tea when I read your last post!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

I saw this picture earlier today and I am still laughing out loud.

There was one of the front view, but I have not been able to find it.

Oh, I'm not laughing at the picture, I am laughing at what you said about sending it to me and asking me to add it to the Who's Going Page as a photo of you :lmao:

That photo is just plain creepy! However, he IS wearing DIS lime green!! :teeth:
