I totally forgot to post one thing that happened to DH while on board. He had gotten up early one morning and went out to take pics of Grand Cayman. Well he went out at deck 9 and climbed the stairs to 10. Well it started raining and so not to ruin his expensive camera he went into the elevator area right there by the Stack. Laying there passed out in front of the elevators was a 15 yo boy. Now those of us with teens know how difficult it is for them to wake up, and it was the same with this kid. But still the concern was there, so DH tried to wake him up, and when he did the kid went right back to sleep. There was also a woman who happend to walk in about the same time DH did and she went to go get some help. DH asks if there are any medical conditions, no, and back to sleep. A maintenance guy happens to walk by, and DH stops him and tells him what is going on and asks for some help. 5 min go by nothing, 5 more maintenance guy comes in and asks if anyone had shown up, nope. 10 more minutes, no one, so DH successfully gets the kid to wake up and follows him to his stateroom to make sure he gets there ok. The kid thanked DH for making sure he was ok.
DH goes to Guest Services to let them know about this, and the fact that while he was waiting more than one cast member walked by and didn't even stop to see if he was ok. God knows how long he had been there and how many other cast members had just walked by. They had security contact him. Seems that security was in the middle of clearing the ship, that is why they didn't show up, totally understandable. The kid was seen walking around the ship at 6 am, ok but did he ever go to sleep. DH tells security that he didn't think that it was Disney's fault but he was concerned about cast members just walking by, and how many walked by before he got there. Just because someone is breathing doesn't mean they aren't in distress, and the fact that there is a reason for staterooms on board.

Here is my concern. Even though your children are safer on a ship than on the streets, it is still not perfectly safe. What if it was someone that wasn't concerned for this kids safety that walked him back to his room?
Now don't flame me but I honestly think there should be a curfew on the ship. I'm not talking all kids should be in there staterooms by 9pm. But if the Kids clubs close at 1 am then that should be the curfew, and they shouldn't be able to wander around the ship by themselves until at least daylight (which 6am wasn't as you all know) unless of course they are wandering around with a parent.
Sorry for the long post.

I had a similar experience. It was on the last night. My son and I were walking about and taking pictures. There was an older gentleman who was slumped over in a chair in front of a couple of peices of pizzas. I looked at him and thought to myself, "that doesn't look right." Then I decided to attempt to wake him up. (Being medically inclined, I was thinking the worst... Stroke, Diabetic coma, stone drunk etc. He was difficult to awaken and once awake, he seemed to not completely understand me. I kept bothering him until he was a bit more coherent. I came to the conclusion that he was not very fluent in english, but he did understand when I asked him if he was diabetic to which he replied no. But, what concerned me was that he was passed out right in front of the Pizzeria! I'm not sure how long he was there but I came away with the same thought. How many people saw him there and just ignored him. :scared1:

DH here...I agree. Being the night owl I am I saw several teens roaming or just hanging out at 2 and 3 in the morning. For their safty a curfew would be a good idea. I did learn that there was at least on person on board that was detained in the brig, and then escorted off the ship when it docked in Port Canaveral. What this person was doing wrong should warrent a curfew in the future.

Just to clarify Scotts response the guy that was detained was not a teen he was an adult that was married with a 4 year old. However he was targeting the women in the bars and trapping them in the elevators. So at that point who knows if he would have targeted a young teen.

We got home safely Sat. night around 9:30 pm. I know Rach posted here that night. I took the wet stuff frrom Castaway Cay out of the suitcase, threw it in the wash and crashed. Yesterday was laundry, grocery shop and pick up the dog and the mail day. I am glad I took today off to finish getting caught up before going back to work tomorrow.

This was a great cruise!!!!!!! It was so great to meet all of you and every where we went we saw familiar faces and friends to talk to. We re-booked while on board with plans of moving the date to when the new ships sail and Rach graduates from high school but she is trying to convince us to go again in 2009 when I think alot of you are planning to go again. We'll see, we'd love to cruise with this group again but I'm not sure about how our high school views missing time for vacations. I'll have to check into that!

I wanted to tell everyone THANK YOU for all the DIStag gifts!!!!!!! I was able to thank some of you in person but not everyone and I even saw some of you after getting your gifts and forgot to thank you at the time, sorry. So thank you everyone now! It was fun playing tag and receiving all the neat gifts!

Thanks Andy for getting all the pictures for us KKers!!! I will definitely be putting them in the scrapbook or photo album. I hope your DD had fun at Homecoming!

Here you go, I was able to get the Magic as she sailed by the Two Palms cam, now it's time to get pics of my DD before she heads off for the Homecoming Dance. Have a MAGICal week all.......

Heather glad your group made it back to the UK safely! You guys must have been exhausted after spending the day at Downtown Disney and the long flight. I know I was exhausted and our flight was much shorter. Rachel thought it was great that we bumped into you guys at Downtown Disney and she got to see Nicola one more time!

Just checking in - Rick and I plus Dave, Bev and family all arrived at Gatwick at about 5.50am GMT.

Now strugging to stay awake for the day, so that we can keep jet lag to a minimum.

It was great finally meeting all of you, even if at times it was only a fleeting wave across deck. Thanks for all the great distags...it's going to be fun looking at all of them again.

I hope to have the trip report written up soon - I'll post the link when I have it. Also links to photo's and cruisin' video three, when Rick has finished it.

Happy Halloween for next week, if I don't get back before then.

Becky hope you're feeling better today

Hey all checking in,
We got in at midnight last night. I have had a miserable cold since Thursday. Not sure if it was all the wind in Coz or not that caused it. I had a huge fever flying home last night, and landing was horrible on my ears, still haven't popped.

On a better note it was nice meeting all of you. Slo thank you for the kind messages you left on my door.

Jeff, I think you're right about the other board, maybe we should come up with our own signature pic.

I was really feeling it all day Sat.:rotfl2: so was Rachel. Yesterday a bit too but not much rocking today anymore. It's funny how that sensation stays with you for a few days.

Anyone else still feel the ship moving?

I did a bit yesterday, but today, since this morning it is non stop!
Help, my house is riding the waves:eek:

I remember this from last cruise, I think it lasted for a few days before I got my land legs back

About Moving that Ressie, Cheryl, can the ressie be moved twice? I'd really like to go about 2/2010 but those dates won't be out for a while and it looks like if we do that I will need to move the date twice. I kinda want to do WDW in 2009 so, I really don't want to plan two large vacations in that year.

Steve,

Yes, you can move it as much as you want. The price will be whatever the prevailing fare is, less the discount.

Now what you could do is cruise in Oct '09 and then do WDW in Feb '10. Just a thought.

Jeff

Steve, Jeff answered for me :thumbsup2 I did specifically ask this because we may actually need to move our ressie multiple times if we don't go again untill 2012. I told the lady at the cruise desk we might not cruise again until 2012 and she told me I'll just have to keep moving the ressie until those dates come out. I'm glad we decided to do this because now if we do decide to go in 2009 we will be set for that and then we can always book another one when we are on the ship then ;)
