I am still trying to decide between white or black appliances (starting small with the mirco). I have been doing some research and I am seeing there are a lot of complaints about black over the range micros. they say the paint on the micro peels where the steam from the pots hit it. Does anyone have any input on this.

Yes, we did have to tell them. They were getting so very anxious about it, and we hated lying to her ("No Mom, it's still not available, I'll try again tomorrow...") So, we 'fessed up. They were thrilled! So, we've decided to hire a limo as a surprise instead. Now that one, we can keep as a surprise!

I just got off the phone with an old girlfriend. 2 hours. She lives across town but works mad hours and we never get to see each other. The last time I saw her was in court in Dec. of 04. She is the girl who introduced DH and I. She was just calling to let me know that she did not forget our anniversay. How sweat was that. Then she told me her and her DH have decided it is time for them to start trying for a family. I can not wait. She will be such a good mother.

DH and I still have not decided what we are going to do on our date tomorrow night. We have roughly 2 hours with the sitter. He really wants to go out to dinner to some place nice, but now with me being sick I really can not taste anything so I don't want to do that. Maybe we could go somewhere for a bread bowl type thing. I thought we could just go shopping also. Go to the mall (act like we are teenagers dating again) Or go looking at mircro's. He did not like that idea.

I really don't know if I will be up to going out. The funeral for Eithan is tomorrow and the family has decided that they want me to be there. I have yet to decide if I am going. It depends on how I am feeling. It outside at 11:00 so it will be really hot and I will have Mac with me also.

I am trying to find out the wattage of the micro I have now. I do not have the book on it and I am trying to look it up online and all I find is that it is no longer available. How can I find this info out? It is an Emerson MW8675W

Hey guys - my Better Half is looking to order me a surprise gift to be waiting for me in our cabin as a part of my birthday present! Was just looking at the Disney Gift list and then I remembered that everyone on the site was recommending a different place - what was the name and web site?

Any problems using a non-disney company and getting the gift into the cabin on time???

any recommendations on what they do well??

You've come to the right place: I used to sell these things.

How much should you spend. It depends upon the features that you want it to do. Remember, these things will last a long time. You will want to be happy with it for a long time. Your former microwave is a 600 watt. You will want at least an 800 watt and about 1.1 cu ft. Other options are convection,(expensive, but adds another oven to your kitchen) turntable, (a must in my book, but most MW's today have this) A good selection of programed options on the keypad ( popcorn, reheat, defrost) You will need to examine them to see what serves your family the best. If you want something neat and have money burning a hole in your pocket, then go for the over-the range type that replaces your above-stove fan. It frees up space in the kitchen. It appears to me that a basic unit is selling in the $85-200 range. Since I really don't care much for using the microwave (When I cook, I like to do it the old-fashioned, stove-top/oven way) I usually find the cheapest thing with the most features out there. If your a modern Betty Crocker that uses the crud out of your machine, then I would suggest budgeting more money for it.

Well, My Hurricane watching continues: Hurricane Felix is bearing down on the Caribbean as we speak! Cat 1 following the same path as Hurricane Dean. We'll know by Wednesday if it is a threat or not.

Yep, I'm with you. I installed a whole house fan a few years back to keep from doing that, so I get testy when I can't turn it on and forget about the AC. I've been lucky and have been working in an air conditioned Hospital through most of the heatwave but my family not so much. Laura put them in the bathtub today so that they could think they were swimming!

Sorry, can't agree with you on the heat, I'm a Chicago-native and have never gotten used to the Desert-like summers of the California Central Valley.
