The Intimidaters are still there yes. Not many people know much about Kannapolis... you must have some friends/family/memories from there. I show houses there all the time... very small town-like... I think that there will be huge growth there within the next 7 years or so.

By the way Scott, I think we should invent a travel plate divider so that us cruisers that don't appreciate plate juices from mingling could enjoy.

I am almost at the 400 mark...wohooo. And if that 40 second rule wasn't here i could be so much further.

Well I guess I have been on here long enough... I should go and do something constructive... but i will be back....

I should just post until I hit the 400 mark... so close now.

Palo...

does anyone know how you are supposed to tip in Palo??? If you don't know the approx price for the meal...any great advice?

Scott here.... D E I

I have to admit that I am starting to get a little nervous about DISTag....I think there is more to this than I originally thought.

It seems that everyone is customizing gifts - I was planning on just buying the same gift for everyone. Something small, probably with a Canadian twist, but nothing too expensive or fancy.

I think I am going to fall short of the expectations. So i apologize now if the gift from us doesnt compare to each of yours.

Question - are we supposed to put our names on it so people know who its from?

I was also planning to do the same thing for everyone...and not anything too big (since I will probably be hauling the max amount of luggage allowed by the airline!). Hope that's ok..maybe a little more clarification is needed on this???:confused3

Jen

Nothing fancy ladies. All my gifts are exactly the same for everyone and didn't cost a lot at all. The purpose of this game is to have fun.. that's it.
I will be attaching a tag indicating that it is from cntkg1. Cass said it best in her post. :thumbsup2

Yeay...lots of WW points people...:cheer2:

Count Chuck and I in too Jen.:thumbsup2

Robin here...

In response to the question of the day...

I do have a funny story, but I don't want to tell it at someone's elses expense. So I'll tell you another one that happened on the way home from one of our trips to Disney World... You never know, we may run into them on another cruise.

It's a little distasteful. Sorry to those of you who may be offended.

You have to understand... When my 20 yr. old daughter & I get together, we get very giggly.

We were on our way home. We stopped at a rest area. Mike was waiting outside the restroom door. Cassie & I walked into our chosen stalls. I thought there was 1 stall between us, and that we were the only ones in there.

All of a sudden I hear "whoooooomp". (I think you can guess.) I then started giggling. Then Cassie starts giggling and says, "That was gross!" The whole time we're in there we are cracking up and the room is echoing. We came out of our stalls and Cassie, (laughing) says, "Was that you?" I said, (laughing) "No, I thought it was you." :rotfl2: We looked over and there was another lady in the stall between ours. So, guess who it was? (Hint: it wasn't us!)

We left the restroom laughing so hard we could hardly stand up. Mike heard the echoes of our laughter and said, "Ok, what did you two do now." We just said, "Let's get out of here."

That poor lady was probably so embarrassed, I'm sure she stayed in there for quite some time.

DH scott here, Thanks for the pic Rob. Being down here in AZ, it is hard to imagine ice thick enough to drive heavy trucks over.

Another odd question: have you or Cass ever driven highway 1 from Calgary to Kamloops or Vancouver? I seems like a very senic drive.

Glad you liked the pic. The truck is pretty huge as the $4 million 797B is over 7.5m tall, 14.5m long and weighs 623 tonnes. Here's some specs I found:
Operating Specifications

Nominal Payload Capacity - 380 tons / 345 tonnes
Nominal Payload Capacity - 339.55 tons / 345 tonnes
Top Speed – Loaded - 42 mph / 67.6 kph
Maximum Capacity - Custom
Steer Angle - 39 Degrees / 39 Degrees
Turning Radius – Front - 130.9 ft / 39.9 m
Turning Circle Clearance Diameter - 132.8 ft / 40.5 m

Caterpillar 797B transmission

Forward 1 - 7 mph / 11.3 kph
Forward 2 - 9.5 mph / 15.2 kph
Forward 3 - 12.7 mph / 20.5 kph
Forward 4 - 17.2 mph / 27.7 kph
Forward 5 - 23.1 mph / 37.2 kph
Forward 6 - 31.2 mph / 50.3 kph

We've both driven it before, from Calgary to Vancouver. The last time we drove it in December and with lots of snow, it wasn't fun! :sad2:

Yeah, lots of snow and ice, we had a car hit the ditch right in front of us; though he shouldn't have been speeding. I highly recommend doing it during the summer though!

I can't wait to do this, I think it will be lots of fun!!! :cool1: I'm envisioning how I can be stealthy when I drop them off  :lmao:

Hmm... stealthy like only a Pirate wench can be eh? I'm sure you'll find out a way. Though getting it delivered by room service would be the ultimate.

Scott here.....Take me, take me:banana: I would love to see VH together again. I did not mind them with Sammy, but Gary Sharon(sp) was bad.

LOL Rockers w/ Walkers! Would be good to see them in Concert, though they are coming at Xmas time here. I just hate that all the fans do drugs at the venue. You would think people would grow up.

On the "L" subject, the main STS-120 site hasn't changed yet:
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/sts120/index.html
Though if it does change to the 23rd, with weather it could be changed to the 26th and we might see it launch while we're at sea or on the 27th in the morning :D

Palo...

does anyone know how you are supposed to tip in Palo??? If you don't know the approx price for the meal...any great advice?

The price of the meal at Palos is included in your cruise ticket. The $10 surcharge is presumably to tip the waitstaff since they are not tipped with your regular tips. You may, if you decide, to tip over and above that amount. Many people do.

Judy :grouphug: hugs to you and Dave and your family. It is so very stressfull when a family member is in the hospital! Al had some heart arythmia problems about 2 years ago and we spent lots of time at the hospital until they were able to finally get things under control and it was very hard on alll 3 of us. It is very good to know that Dave's heart and lungs are healthy! Did they check his gallbladder? A gallbladder attack can sometimes mimick heart problems. Hope they get things figured out for him quickly!!!!!

Wow you do have a busy time ahead of you. Just think how quickly that will make the time fly by for you till the cruise.

Good luck with everything and please keep us informed on how Dave is doing :grouphug:

Cheryl

Difinitely have them check his gallbladder. When Missy's husband Mike was sick a couple of months ago they first thought it was his heart and turned out to be his gallbladder. He was a very sick puppy and spent a week in the hospital.

Ohhhh ok. that is helpful. Someone that Mary works with told her that the 10 dollars was because you pay to get out of your dining rotation and that it wasn't a tip at all and I just didn't know how we could possibly calculate a tip if we weren't paying for the food at all. Ok... I'm good now. Thanks Steve.
