I also heard that you should use a white t-shirt but a transfer for a dark shirt. I guess the colors are more vibrant and you don't have to reverse the transfer paper when printing. I used these and they seem easier to remove after ironing too. Just my two cents worth. :

So, why do you have to transfer the logo on the light paper but not the dark? :confused3 - can you tell I have never done this before:rotfl2: -- If you see someone in the terminal with a t shirt on that says

sreiurK deknoK - you know it went wrong:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Any word on little Madeline?princess:

Nope... nothing:sad1: ... its been weeks now...the only news is about her parents having a European tour and meeting the Pope etc:mad:

The theory behind it is that they visit the countries and publicise it more to the rest of Europe as the resort they holidayed at is frequented by other Europeans and they may know something.

I'm suprised at how supportive people are towrds the parents...my own personal view (and we're all intitled to one whether we agree or not) is that they dont deserve all this publicity and visits to the Pope. They left their 3 children alone in a room while they went to have dinner - and yet they are in every paper, or every news bulletin, I'm sick of seeing them...I'd rather they constantly publicize Madelines face, not the parents visit to the Pope:mad:

Even when you see them walking on the beach - half the time their other 2 children arent with them:confused3 - I wouldnt let my kids out my sight if that happened, but they are jetting round Europe in private jets like celebritites.

Sorry, you didnt ask for any of that, but its how a lot of people I have spoken to feel about it. Too much focus on the parents and not enough focus on that poor child who was left with her younger children on their own so the parents could fill their faces:mad: The odd parent does take the opposite view and says that they have taken chances with their kids in the past and there but the grace of God etc, but I dont know anyone who would be stupid enough to dump their kids so they could eat.

I'm an overcautious parent, others are indifferent I guess:confused3

Anyway, not trying to cause a row or start a debate..just giving my viewpoint:rolleyes1

Our soccer club, sponsored a tournament over the weekend. Bryce's team took first place in his age group. :cheer2:

Mackenzie's age does not do placement, but they won 2, lost 1.
She fell just before the game, really hard on her arm. Mark heard some sort of noise. We took her in tonight, they took 5 xrays. It looked like she has a hairline fracture on her radius, so they put her in a splint & sling. She already hates it, but I tell her that it is better than a cast. The radiologist will read it in the morning, we go back in a week for them to re-xray. We'll see how well she sleeps tonight, she has to sleep w/the splint & sling, propped up w/a pillow.

Way to go Bryce!!!:cheer2:
Poor McKenzie.....having an arm in a sling at the beginning of summer break has to be a bummer. Here's to a quick recovery!!!!:wizard:

This is her 3rd year in swim. The first year she was a fish in the water, but then she fell into my parents pool and it has been down hill from there. She does great as long as she can touch the bottom. But getting her to touch seems to be hard. When she is not comfotable the whole area nows about it. I just hope she is comfortable by the time the cruise happens. I am actually thinking of buying her floaties or a life jacket for the pool and the trip.

I'm afraid DS will need a life jacket for excursions or the Goofy Pool. Thankfully the Mickey Pool is pretty shallow and he feels comfortable there!!

Missy "for whatever reason"...am feeling a little cheap right now, used abused and dumped....:sad1: :sad2: :sad1:
Chris my love......I only meant use the hugs for luck on the house or for anything else that might come to mind;) .....thats all!! I would never abuse or dump you darling....:flower3:

Good morning everybody,

its been a while since i posted, i have kept poppin back from time to time trying to keep up with whats going on but i dont stand a chance of keeping up , exams over now so i am once again an active member, ....
hello to all the new cruises,:woohoo: ......its great to be back

medicalman:grouphug:

Welcome back Sean......Lori has told me so much about you and your family...(we work together!!) I hope your exams went well!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks Cass - 8am should be fine then. We might stop for a bite of brekkie on route, so should arrive a little before 10am.

Karen - trust me, there is no need to stop for brekkie on the way to the ship!! If you have a little something before you leave the resort to hold you over, save your appetite! The minute you board, the food starts!!! And it goes on, and on, and on.........seriously.....the minute you board you can head up to topsiders buffet on deck 9 and help yourself to whatever your heart desires....(trust me, I know my food!!!) And while you are indulging at a table next to the Mickey Pool, Ellis can be swimming his heart out, right within arms reach of you!!!! BON APPETITE!

So far you're ok Linda. It's that Missy girl I'm watching...very closely.:rotfl2:

Well, if it is okay with Chris.......:rotfl2:

What's the earliest we can get into the Boarding Building? Is it 10am? If so - then is there any advantage to gettign there at 930am?

Sometimes they open the doors a little early. If so, it gives you a chance to mingle with other cruisers and take your time looking over the terminal. (It is very beautiful and there is lots to see!!!) And usually characters appear in the terminal earlier than later.......(later it gets a bit too crowded for them!):cool1:

Well Said - I totally agree with you - I am sorry she was taken, no parent deserves that - But why wouldnt one person have gone for dinner and one person stay back....or put the 3 kids in strollers after they fell asleep and take them to the restaurant with you.

We all have made mistakes as parents - I know I have, I still feel guilty about my son falling off my bed when he was 4 months old (he is 7 now) - but this was a pretty BIG mistake.

Thanks for the tip:thumbsup2 - might just grab a bite in the room then - ( Ellis can have weetabix and I'llfinish off any leftover cheesecake:rolleyes1 )

My first thoughts were "why the heck were they left there?..who in their right mind would do that:confused3 - have they not heard of take out? , or like you said pop the kids in a buggy and wheel them over to the restaurant - we've done this loads of times when Ellis was a toddler.

I agree, no parent is perfect and I'm sure we could all think of things we could have handled better etc regarding our children, butI dont call what they did a mistake - I call it dreadful parenting. Why arent they being charged for neglect?

Yep - my mistake was not being quick enough to catch Ellis when he banged his mouth and chipped his touth - i was only 2 foot away from him but he was leaning on a truck and the wheels just moved and he lost his balance and headbutted the truck with his teeth:scared1: - I cried for days - every time he smiled at me. It didnt hurt him, it didnt bleed, but I was devastated by him chipping a tooth.even he gave me a cuddle and told me not to cry - he was only about 2 at the time.

Okay, we will make some room for him! I have been debating about having Rob and his dad drop us off first too and THEN returning the vehicles. Still not sure about this?

Got that idea from the main DIS thread. Seems like it works great.

Haven't used the dark transfers, so I wouldn't know. So using a dark transfer on a white t-shirts works better then?

I guess so. That's what was recommended to me on the last cruise shirt. They told me that the colors were more vibrant. I did like the dark transfers better too because they are easier to use.

So, why do you have to transfer the logo on the light paper but not the dark? :confused3 - can you tell I have never done this before:rotfl2: -- If you see someone in the terminal with a t shirt on that says

Karen, your posts make me laugh every day!! You're one funny lady.:rotfl: :rotfl:

On the dark transfer paper you print it out without messing around with the mirror image thing. Then you cut out your image a bit (just trim the edges) and peel it off the paper. Place it on your shirt and iron it. No hassle with the peeling off of paper from the image.

Love? Darling? Them sounds like fightin' words Missy.:lmao:

Well, if it is okay with Chris.......:rotfl2:

What man wouldn't be ok with this arrangement? :rotfl:

Ok Jeff, I know you're home with DS this week and it's pouring rain outside right now, so why aren't you DISing? Did Suz take the computer to work with her?:lmao:

You are right Karen - I would suggest they should be charged with Child Abandonment. I worry about the other 2 kids.

What I dont get is why all the celebrities are helping this specific family. Unfortunately children are taken regularly - what is so special about this family that draws Simon Cowell , JD Rowling, etc to get involved!!

I could feel the pain about Ellis's tooth......we all want to do our best as parents and we just cant always be there without smothering them.

So what is Ellis looking forward to most on the cruise??

Hello everyone......I literally have about 3 minutes to post a quick hello before I am back out the door......

This morning we went to Shanes (DS6) Kindergarten graduation ceremony. It was very nice.....informal and intimate with just his class for certificate presentation! After all awards and certificates were given out we went outside for a picnic with all the other kindergarten classess!!!! What a great celebration! A lot of happy kids!!!!

Here are some quick photos.....I gotta run. I gotta take 1 DS to the doctor, 1 DS to the dentist and 1 DH to the doctor!!! WHEW!! I need a clone!!!

I dont know:confused3 ... the same week in our news a little child was flying to America for their zillionth operation to try and save this poor childs life etc - they got about 30 seconds of air time. Kids go missing all the time, I have no idea what makes these parents so special:confused3 - I wonder how all the other parents of missing / abducted children feel - and I bet most of them didnt leave their kids to get dinner and yet their childs face probably never even made it to national tv channels:sad1:

On a happier note - Ellis is looking forward to the kids club and meeting all the kids from this thread. And the Mickey slide! He's looking forward to having dinner with his Konked Kruiser tablemates instead of just his Mom and Dad:rotfl:

One more try......

Oh well, I'll have to figure it out later......gotta run......good day all!!!:yay: :yay:

Not really. Socializing is about the only thing. I don't think that the bus leaves from the airport before 10am so I won't be around until about 11.

Are you flying in the day of or are you staying at the airport hotel? We are staying at the airport Hyatt so we have no idea when the shuttle will leave to take us to the port.

Buckets of dust stuff on its way to you Chris - let us know how you get on.

I'll nip over in a while and have a look:goodvibes

His name is John. Not sure what family he's travelling with. John, if you read this tell us a bit about yourself and your family.

Boy, spent a couple days doin yard work and miss a bunch. Jerkface=myself John + wife Dawn + 2 other cruisers Gabi and Alyssa both 10 at the moment and twins.
Knock on the bedroom door at 5 this morning, Gabi  ready to hurl and very sick so Dawn stayed home from work to take care of her (like this has ever happened to anyone else here :rotfl: ) Dawn calls me while I'm in a meeting at lunch "school called Alyssa sick, no way to get her cuz Gabi's tossing out her breakfast"....VROOOM to the rescue, stopped at school picked up Alyssa (who is all smiles by the time I get there :cloud9: ) and ZOOOOM get her home to mom and VROOOM back to work. Feels like a long day already and yet no one works harder than dedicated moms! I'm just not sure how my wife keeps her sanity.

Yeah so we (Dawn & I) are excited about October 20th, I even signed up on NASAs website to stay on top of the upcoming events and hopefully they stay on target. That would be something great to see. Kids are not excited because they do not know. :rolleyes1

Any suggestions about telling kids about DC? I seen the post card thing and thought it was neat. Dawn thinks the girls may be getting a little passed the age of that being the best way. Right now she plans on packing all of their stuff and pitching it in the truck the night before and then not telling them where we are going until we get to Florida. Seems almost cruel but she really wants to surprise them. :sad2:

Sounds like iron-ons are the plan of action. If ya'll decide to change your mind I'd be happy to help. Everyone in this thread seems very nice and very successful, actually all of the threads I go through :thumbsup2 I tend to measure success by the positive impact that a person can make on one another not to mention selflessness. I am genuine in offering to order the shirts and get em printed.

I too was sadened seeing young Madeleine McCann abducted. I really think those stories hit you harder having experienced parenthood. It's almost like you put yourself inside of that perspective and get a bunch of knots in your belly. That movie "Ransom" with Mel Gibson is like that for me, I always align myself with the parent while I view a movie like that and it strikes fear into me. Hate just thinking about it. One of the reasons my family tends to not share too much personal information on-line, even in a great environment like this one. I love seeing everyones pictures and hearing their stories. Unfortunately there is enough personal information here to make it that much simpler to take one of our children. I protect people's data for a living. It's my nature to tell people how easy someone can assume another person's identity or steal private data from a company network. Dawn reminds me to leave work at work when I hit my paranoid button, she's the yang in my yin  and I was put on earth to make her laugh and be there if she falls.

Though I think it was Bill Murray that said "Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get me"

John

Hey I read in some of the other threads people having all kinds of problems with their cameras. Going from the cold AC rooms to Castaway on a hot day seems to have trashed many cameras for a day or two. Cruisers recommend wrapping them in towels or packing them with those gel packs used for shipping. :wizard:

Anyone have this type of trouble in the October season? Wasn't sure if that time of year would be trouble or not. I have not had this problem yet but we normally travel in January/February.

John

Well I am not as good as you guys all are on your machines for hours at a time. I am so impressed (and jealous).
But I did find a running program called Couch to 5K in 10 weeks. So I started last night and I AM SO SORE TODAY. I am supposed to go out again on Wed night and I dont know if I will be able to, but I will try.

You are my inspiration when it comes to exercise. I did get out and go for a walk with my neighbor last night. It felt good.

I don't really have a choice, if I don't exercise a LOT, I don't lose weight  I am the kind of person who gains 5 lbs just LOOKING at a cheesecake! But hey, any kind of exercise is great, so just get moving, it will all help :yay:

So, why do you have to transfer the logo on the light paper but not the dark? :confused3 - can you tell I have never done this before:rotfl2: -- If you see someone in the terminal with a t shirt on that says

sreiurK deknoK - you know it went wrong:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

OMG, I almost spewed!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Karen - trust me, there is no need to stop for brekkie on the way to the ship!! If you have a little something before you leave the resort to hold you over, save your appetite!

Unless you are my husband and you like to eat every 2 hours!
I ordered him a BIG breakfast at 9 am at the Radisson, and by the time we got checked in at the terminal at 11:15, he was BUYING food and coffee from that store inside the terminal!! OMG!! I wanted to smack him....(where's that cute smack smiley?? ) You could probably hear me clear across the terminal " ROBERT!!! We are about board the ship where there is FREE food, what are you DOING??????"

Are you flying in the day of or are you staying at the airport hotel? We are staying at the airport Hyatt so we have no idea when the shuttle will leave to take us to the port.

Usually the first bus leaving the airport is at 9am. Make sure you sign up for the first one!

So I am trying to get our passport photos done. Went last night and they said they didn't have the right kind of camera for Kira, said she wouldn't fit. SO I call AAA and they said they will TRY to do them but there are no guarantees! :headache: We can't even cross the border unless we all have passports, so I hope we can get it done today! I need to get them in soon, takes a couple of months for them to be processed. :scared:

So, I guess all the early people at the terminal will be mostly KKers :lmao: Well, we should be getting there around 10am since we will be dropping off the rental cars at Budget by 9:30 and then taking their shuttle to the Port. Hopefully they open the gates at 10am and that there won't be any delays :sad2: Maybe we should pop on over to the 10/13/07 cruise thread and tell them NOT to leave any luggage around so they don't delay our boarding

Thanks Cass - 8am should be fine then. We might stop for a bite of brekkie on route, so should arrive a little before 10am.

What's the earliest we can get into the Boarding Building? Is it 10am? If so - then is there any advantage to gettign there at 930am?

It USUALLY opens at 10am. Sometimes it's a little late, depending on when the ship clears. I just like getting there early cus it starts the cruise early :rotfl: Also, if you want to try to upgrade, you need to get there first thing.

The last cruise we did, 1/13/07, Suz called me at Avis to tell me that they have opened the gates. This was at about 9:50 a.m. This was even after an alarm situation either in the terminal or on the ship (false, of course). So we usually end up there by 9:30. You will get a #2 boarding slip if you are there that early. I don't think they run out too quickly, and even if you get a #3, it doesn't take long to get on (so I've heard - never had anything but 2. We use to be in the first 5 families when they didn't have the boarding passes). The #1 are for Mr. Chris and the other snobs, I mean lucky people :rotfl: , that have Cats 1-3. Plus disabled get preboarding as well.

Oh Paige, I love a man in uniform too.... sadly Waynes only uniform is a Honda test track driver one ( not sexy! ) :rotfl:

We have no plans in wearing tuxs etc ( when we cruise RC from UK we may take formal wear, however we need space in our cases for shopping, not tuxs and formal shoes )

Linda, a Tux rental is only about $100 US for the week (includes tux, 2 shirts, tie, cumberbund, shoes and socks - need to request/pay for all that, but still under $100). They drop it off in your room and pick it up the last night. Nothing for you to lug around.

Unless you spell Konked Kruisers, or sresiurK deknoK, wrong. :rotfl2:

Nope... nothing:sad1: ... its been weeks now...the only news is about her parents having a European tour and meeting the Pope etc:mad:

Suz and I had the same thoughts as well. What were they thinking? We both said we would have either have one bring the food back for both to eat in the room (did this on the last cruise when DS got sick the first night), or take turns going to eat. We have also had DS sleeping in the stroller at the restaurant when we were in Mexico.

On a happier note - Ellis is looking forward to the kids club and meeting all the kids from this thread. And the Mickey slide! He's looking forward to having dinner with his Konked Kruiser tablemates instead of just his Mom and Dad:rotfl:

We'll see if Ellis thinks that way after a couple of dinners with those crazy Americans. :rotfl2:

We took DS for his at Walgreen's when he was about 6 months. We had to hold him, but it worked fine. Not sure what different kind of camera they need. Just zoom in or get closer. At least in the US, not sure about Canada, it just needs to be in the sizing requirements.

We are staying at the airport Hyatt the night before too but I don't have the pick-up time either.

Isn't the Hyatt expensive? Not to mention the cost of the transfers?

Wouldn't it be cheaper to rent a car or van (depending on the number of people you have) and driving to port the night before? Especially if the unmentionable event takes place.
