The reason I ask about August is for our trip in 08 we will get annual passes and to get the most out of them, I will want to return to WDW in 09 before they expire........So I was thinking about going late summer 08, then earlier summer in 09. We are pulling our kids out of school in Oct for the cruise, but I don't want to do it again if I don't have to. With the kids getting older, their homework and school lessons are more difficult, and the school they are going to is very challenging. They are probably up to the challenge, but I don't think I will be........:rotfl2:

We always get annual passes. It's makes sense when you go to WDW more than once a year.

Robin

BTW - Paige's French saying means: Let the good times roll!! And I only know that from going to New Orleans - the only French I know is food-related...not that this should surprise any of you. :lmao:

I could teach y'all some curse words...........:lmao:

I bet Cass and Rob know some too!

It has been another busy weekend for us and I just got a chance to get caught up.

Welcome back Brenda and Linda! Glad you both had nice vacations! Linda I love the pictures of Elouise!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELOUISE!:bday: party: :cake:

Al won't be wearing a tux but he will have his nice dark suit and shirt and tie for both formal and semi-formal nights and Palo dinner. Rachel and I have our dresses alraedy from last Oct. plus we each got a new one that we can wear to my nieces wedding the week before the cruise and then either to formal or semi-formal night.

Cass I remember our first trip to WDW with Rachel. She was 18 months old at the time so at least she could walk. I remember getting on the plane with her the first time. We put her between the 2 of us and just kept prodding her along down the aisle to our seat while we lugged the car seat, her diaper bag, etc. If your seats for the plane haven't been selected already try and get them as close to the front of the plane as yoc so you have less distance to lug all your stuff! Good luck and if we see you struggling we'll be glad to help!

Well off to get some stuff done. I probably won't be able to get on here much in the next 2 weeks. Rachel only has 7 1/2 days of school left and then we are off to FL for 2 weeks  We leave on the 16th and I can't believe how close that is getting now and I have nothing packed, the house is a disasster and there are a lot of weeds in the garden that I want to get pulled before we go so it will be a busy time until we leave. So
Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to everyone that has June birthdays and anniversaries!

Cheryl

For those of you who havent booked yet - Southwest has a great Internet special on right now.

I have been watching the rates for the last 2 months and the cheapest flights I have been able to get would have cost us $1300 for the 5 of us.....I just booked on SouthWest for $786. WOW - great rates, non-stop flights, and at good departure times - PERFECT!

I dont know if its just our departure city (I doubt it) or if its for several cities (Even though we are Canadian, we fly out of Buffalo NY as its a lot cheaper than flying out of Canadian Airports - to fly out of Toronto, Canada would be at least $2500).

I have a couple of questions about drinks on board the ship:

1. can kids get free drinks in the Lab or other places when they are on organized activities?
2. What about The Stack where the teenagers hang out?
3. are all non-alcoholoc drinks free with meals?

ALso - does anyone know what it costs to have a pop when you do have to pay for it?

Jessalynn - Free pop is up on deck 9 next to the Mickey Pool.....available always. I'm not sure about the stack and would have to ask Cody about the club and lab. I know that non-alcoholic drinks are free with dinner and cost $1 or $2 with roomservice. Hope that helps!

Thanks

What is in this kit? does everyone get one?

what is a cruise travel kit?

We have not paid our cruise in full yet so maybe that is why I don't know what it is. It will be paid in full July 26th. I can not wait, then I can really start looking forward to the trip.

Noooo! - sounds cool! - whats in it?
We paid off ages ago and havent received anything:sad1: - do the uk people not get it?:sad1:

I'm paid off too and didn't get one. Missy, please describe.

The cruise travel kit is a little teaser DCL sends out as you get closer to cruise time. It is a beautiful little booklet filled with pictures and descriptions of shore excursions, tips for smooth sailing, gifts, sailing made simple guide, description of vacation protection plan and info on renting formal wear so you don't have to lug it around in your suitcase!!! They also send you a little letter telling you the exact date you can book your shore excursions, spa, palo, babysitting and registering your kids for the clubs. My cruise is paid off......I'm not sure if this makes a difference. And I can't say about UK cruisers........sorry.

Any thoughts on what time we'd need to leave WDW if that rocket thing was to happen on the 20th...:rolleyes1

We are leaving WDW that morning around 8:30a.m. I hope that is early enough!!! I've cruised before, but never with a "L" happening at the same time!!!!:scared1:

Good afternoon Robin, about formal night is ANYONE ON HERE wearing formal?....:confused3

We won't be wearing anything too fancy.....husband is not a monkey suit kind of guy.....probably just slacks and shirt and tie.

Hi friends! Hope all is well with y'all. We're great but very busy here. Pulling up stakes and moving across country is such a busy time, isn't it?

Karen--I wanted to answer your list of questions in more detail, but the cruise has taken a back seat to moving, Rob's graduation (graduating with distinction--I'm so proud, he's worked so hard!), and getting ready for his folks to arrive (luckily we get along and they are low maintenance).

This move is going to be challenging with my kids. The older they get, the harder the move is on them. The friendships they make are deeper than when they were younger. Emily has made some wonderful friends here who are "civilian" kids, so they have lived here their whole lives. When she makes friends with "military" kids, there is always that hope that we will be stationed with them again (which actualy does happen sometimes), but here she has the realization that she may never see these kids again. It's great that they have email and cell phones, but to a 14 yr old girl, I guess it seems like the world is at an end. Luckily, she is a wonderful, outgoing, very adaptable young lady, who already knows many of the kids at her new school ("military" kids who have been stationed with us before). My Derek who is 11 and going into middle school has that "middle school anxiety" that all kids have, so I can only do what every other parent does--try no to lose it or smother him with my overbearing motherly self. My older two also have that "will Dad go to the war" anxiety, as well, although they try to hide it. Alex who is 7 1/2, is thrilled because his best friend is waiting for him in our new ......

Paige - You really do have a full plate......best of luck to you and the kids....somehow the kids always seem to adjust and sometimes more graciously than we adults.....I'm sure everything will work out fine!! Are you being stationed at Quantico???? I thought I remembered that from past posts. Please let me know.....Lori (Goofyfreak) and I are in Fredericksburg, just down the road. Maybe we could have a DIS meet (with kids and husbands) before the cruise!!!

Have a great vacation Cheryl and Family! Take lots of pictures and be sure to tell Mickey that the rest of us will see him in October!!:cheer2:

This is OT, sorry.

Does anyone know that if we use a realtor to help us find a house to RENT, what we could expect to pay for the service? Is it a percentage of the rent amount?

Chris, if that rocket thingy :rolleyes1 goes, experienced DISers recommend more than double the usual amount of time for getting to the port. I am just glad we are spending the night before there, just in case ;)

Oh and yes, I know a few choice phrases in french ::yes::

Off to work on the logo...
