JLD, where are you? Cat got your tongue, or the Dog got your fingers?:surfweb:

I just got a PM from a KK who thought they were missing from many of the tables on Yahoo. Just a reminder, many of the tables now have two pages to them due to the great response from you KK's! Anyone who's DISer name begins in lower case letters (like mine) may be on page two of the table.:)

Good morning all

I could not sleep this morning so I have been up getting some stuff done so now I have some time to sit and catch up. However there is not much to catch up on. What happened overnight?

Looks like everyone is taking advantage to the long holiday weekend...
How are you this morning?

WOW - it sounds like we have a lot we can relate to each other. I find it very hard on parents today with the new trend that kids move back and forth between families.

Its too late to get all into it - another night maybe - but we have/are raising 3 kids that are not ours. Nephew of my better half, Kevin, age 22 now. Lived back and forth between us and his horrible mother since he was 10 until he was 18 when I kicked him out for the last time after I caught him using my ATM card to steal money out of our account to give to his Mother. Nepher of my better half, Cory , age 21 now and already has a son who is almost 1. His Mother committed suicide when he was 11 so he moved in with us. He had so many people (in the family and outside of it) feeling so sorry for him that every time he didnt like a rule we imposed - he would run away and find a family that would take him in (dont get me wrong - horrible that his MOm died but he played that card too often). He would run away and I wouldnt know if he was alive or dead for days at a time. Neice of mine, Vanessa, 14 who used to live with her Grandparents but now lives with us. She isnt as bad as the boys but we still have to deal with her Mom at times. And her grandparents treat her VERY SPECIAL, to the point that my kids are kind of forgotten by them.

But that is the excitement of families in this millenium - I dont know too many of the old fashioned families any more.

With that - good night - we will talk more before the cruise.

REMEMBER what I said - focus on your daughter- not on all the noise around you - there will always be something out there that can bring you down. You cant let it get to you - for her sake!

Oh my goodness I can complelty relate. Up till 2001 (the year we got married) the kids were with both parents equal time, everyother week. It was great. But they were switching in middle of the week, which could not work for school. So we got full custody with mom having visitation. Well in 2002 when I got pregnant it went down hill from there. The ex really started using Kelsey as a pawn to be mean and evil to me. We were have a rough preg to begin with. I could not handle the older 2 anymore but that did not matter to anyone. From 2002 to 2004 the kids switched back and forth 5 times. Things stayed rough until 2004 when the judge gave the ex full custdoy and us visitation. I could not have been happier for me, but I knew it was wrong for the kids. Well in April of this year Kelsey told her mom exactly how she feels about her and moved back in and the judge granted it. Now last weekend the mother has decided that Kelsey does not have to go see her if she doesn't want to. What ever happened to a court order and sticking to the thing. I know that Kelsey living with us is the best for her, overall she is a great kid, but she has been pushing it abit around her so when she comes back Monday it is a whole new ball game.

After hearing your story I am glad Scott and I are only children and have no extended family to worry about. The inlaws are enough for us.

Not doing anything fun, laundry:laundy: cleaning, that's how I am spending my long weekend. I do have tomorrow off, but DH has to work all weekend and extra tomorrow (13hrs).

How about you, anything fun??

Your ticker is off one day than mine, are you flying in the morning of the cruise??

I think there is something wrong with my ticker. Last night it was showing that I only had 4 days left. HMMMMM!. We are flying in the day before (19th). Are you flying in the day before.

Yes, we are flying in the day before, get in around lunch time, and hope to do some park hopping in the afternoon/evening. We watched the Travel Channel yesterday, they were featuring WDW, it makes you that much more excited. It's been 1 1/2 yrs since we have been there. Wish we coudl stay longer, but it's hard for the kids to miss so much school.

Where are you staying the night before. Disney or Port?

We are not sure of our flight times yet. They said we will not get all that info until 30 days prior. We are not doing any of the parks while we are there. We thought it would just be way to much for all of us to squeeze it in. It has been 16 years since I have been there and the rest of the family has never been.

We are staying at the airport Hyatt Regency. Where are you staying?

The Hyatt was one of our options to stay, but we wanted to catch a day of Disney, so we opted for the Caribbean Beach on Disney property.
Though yesterday watching the TC the kids picked a ton of rides that they want to be sure to get to, but I believe we will have to narrow down their list.
Not having been there, it would be hectic to try to spend part of a day there, too many choices....
That can be your next trip:thumbsup2
