Where is everybody? I'm lonely...:sad2:

I'm back from lunch. But need to get a couple of things done. I will be checking every so often.

The sun is out here, which is surprising, because at the beginning of the week they said it would be cloudy and rainy all week.

I should be getting more done, but I'm so tired that it's hard to focus right now. This is providing a nice distraction. ;)

It's very quiet this evening or afternoon if you're in the US, but I'm here.

Had a message from Princess that our documents have been posted, so we just need to watch out for our postman...please HURRY UP!!!:hourglass

Welcome back Chris. I met Rick at work just like you and Hazel. It was love across a hot stove as we're both ex.chef's and worked for the Beeb when we met. We'll perhaps not love to begin with as we started out just being friends first and foremost.

Heather

Heather, what a lovely quote to say you started off with Rick as friends first and foremost.

School holidays have started for us, so I dont think over the next 2 weeks i will be on here as much... i will try but madam has the life of a social butterfy ! princess: im just a taxi driver and "payer" :rotfl2:

Hi all! I am only getting to check in now (5:35 pm-PDT) as I have been taxiing Emily around today. Also, Rob has been home a good portion of the day, so I have had an adult to talk to and occupy me. We had a little housing setback today. We found out that we are not eligible to get base housing at our new duty station until August. Our problem is that we are scheduled to move there in June. So what that means is that my kids and I may have to spend ALL summer in Louisiana. My kids would be thrilled, but it will be hard to be in "close quarters" with family, although we all get along fine. Rob will call the housing office tomorrow morning to see what our options are. Believe me, I hate to complain about this. I keep thinking that no matter where we have to live, my kids are guaranteed a spot in the DOD schools on base, which are top-notch. That is always the biggest issue when we move.

Anyway, that is why I haven't been around today. Aren't you glad you asked?

On the positive side, Rob talked to the Marine he is replacing in June and so far they have not had to send any guys from that particular office into Individual Augment (IA) billets for the war. When you are an IA, you get plucked from your job and placed with a unit--sometimes it doesn't matter what your specialty is. Wherever they need you, they place you. Could it be that we will get to do our last four years without Rob being in harm's way? One can only hope. For now, I will take that bit of positive news and be oh so thankful! :goodvibes

Back to "cruise stuff"----in only a few more days, we will break the 200 days left mark!!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

madam has the life of a social butterfy ! princess: im just a taxi driver and "payer" :rotfl2:

Linda, I see you and I have the same job right now...........:drive: :drive:

My kids go back to school on Monday, and they are ready! They've been off for 2 weeks, so I think they have had enough of each other and are happy to get back to their school friends.

Sorry, Heather, you have to "dumb it down" for me. What's Beeb?

Thanks.

Evening everyone!

I'm so glad March is almost over! I love the month of April! Springtime really kicks in, and my b'day is in April! Plus, when April comes, then we can say "we go on vacation next month!"

Cass, and Brenda's mom (aka Grimace) - Happy Birthday! (Sorry I'm a little late with the wishes!)

Karen - how's your head feeling? Glad to hear no black eyes!

Chris - glad to hear from you again!

I love all the "how we met" stories! I'll post ours in a minute.

Gotta run and have a little snack, before it gets much later! be back in a few!

Here's our secretive "how we met" story...

I was working in the jewelry dept of an air force base retail store, and we were getting a new department manager. Everyone knows it's a big ordeal to get a new manager, since you usually have to break them in, or sometimes teach them the job! Anyway, in Aug 93, we meet John. He's a young, cocky somebody, fresh out of training! He has a great sense of humor, and we all learned that though he was new, he really did learn fast, and knew how to get stuff done. The higher ups were so impressed that he was quickly promoted several times up the ladder!

Anyway, he and I hit it off immediately. There was a definate spark. John and I would "bump" into each other around the store. Then after seeing each other at work all day, we starting having "late night" conversations on the phone. It all happened so fast! By Dec 93, we realized we loved each other, but couldn't really do much about it. Very work taboo! Neither of us wanted anyone to get in trouble! More and more people caught on to us. Then in early 94, he had to go away for some work conference. I knew I was going to miss him like crazy, and I was quite sad he was going to be gone. He wanted me to drop him off at the store, where he was meeting with another co-worker going to the same conference. When I dropped him off, I kissed him goodbye, in full view of the back office gossipers! Needless to say, word spread like wildfire! Hee-hee! I still remember that kiss! We finally 'fessed up to the bosses, and most everyone was OK with it. Since he wasn't my direct boss anymore (as if he ever was!!) they weren't looking to transfer anyone to a different store or anything! Whew! We got engaged in July 94, and married in May 95. I love his quick wit, beautiful grey eyes, and his nice round butt!

That's our story!

Not yet, got to get Easter out of the way and Rick's Mum and Dad out of the way so we can get the cases down and start thinking about what to take.

Sorry, Heather, you have to "dumb it down" for me. What's Beeb?

I'm sorry, I keep forgetting about not using slang words. The Beeb is the affectionate? name for the BBC or British Broacasting Corporation.:)
