October 2013!

I am a AAA member. To get the AAA discount don't I have to book through them and then they control my reservations?

The sea serpant slide is the reason we want to stay at POFQ, or POR if we can't or the discount (if any) for FQ is not as good. We stayed at ASSp last time, really looking forward to a Mod this time.

You can book a AAA discount directly through Disney if you are booking a room only reservation. If you want a package using a AAA discount, then AAA has to book it for you and they will own the reservation.

Thanks, hope you don't mind all the questions.... would you recommend a RO with AAA discount or room and tickets directly with Disney? I can't add tix and DP to a RO only and will need to rebook anyway if FD or S/P/D (that's the package that has been running the last few months right)?Seems like a lot of October people have a package booked? We are getting the DP even if we have to pay for it.

Just booked flights through Spirit for $288/person, round-trip. I joined their $9 Fare Club for $59.95/year. It ended up saving us over $200, and that includes paying for a preferred seat. Well worth the cost. This was the cheapest fare that we could find.

Personally, I book a package directly through Disney. I could never depend on someone else to attempt to add a FD discount should one become available. I have friends that are TAs, but I still prefer to own my reservation. If you plan to do dining either way, a room only reservation is not going to be something you can use anyway.

Also, I don't mind the questions at all. :goodvibes I am happy to help. It is what I do to pass the time until my own trip rolls around. :goodvibes

Thanks, I think I will book a package this weekend before the website goes crazy with FD!

We are going in October!! :hyper:

We are planning a surprise trip for my son's 10th birthday and I am so excited!! Can't wait to see his face when he finds out where we are going. We will be there the 23rd-27th. Last November it was just me and my boyfriend and he has talked about wanting to go every since. He thinks we are planning a trip with him for next year. The plan is to let him go to sleep, put him in the car (we will be driving overnight since its about a 12 hour drive for us) and about the time he wakes up, we'll be in Florida! Then wait to see how long it takes him to figure out where we are going! Tricky part will be packing without him knowing we are taking a trip!

I agree with Smitch. We originally booked RO AAA discount directly with Disney by calling. When we switched to a package with AAA we went with an agent, but also received a $100 rebate for paying off our reservation in full (with our Disney VISA so we still have 0% APR for 6 months, not that we need it, and for the pts!) We can still make changes, but we do have to go through the AAA agent. She has been great though. If it weren't for the extra $100, I would have booked through Disney. We switched to a package just in case FD or S/P/D is offered. With the Disney VISA we hopefully will have a couple days lead on any package deal though, hopefully. She also knows we'll rebook if these are offered, and was totally cool about it saying just to give her a call.

Also, AAA discounts are limited by room type and resort, so once they are gone they are gone. Disney's other discounts too.

Smitch you are awesome BTW, I've learned so much from you too! :)

See y'all at the Sea Serpent pool, LOL!

Scard192 ~ forgot to add, the rebate was with paying off by 3/15, so that's probably no longer available. ADRs you DO have control over, just not the resort res. AAA also has a priority fireworks viewing spot in MK I believe, along with a couple of other perks when booking through an agent, I need to ask about that when we adjust our res though. Also AAA discounts at Earl of Sandwich in DTD - not tied to res though (it's the little things!!!) :) But yes, you need to relinquish control if booking a pky through AAA - not an easy thing for an over-planner!

Hello, folks!

I just started planning my (potential) October trip this week. I've made a few reservations, but things are still sort of up in the air. Here's what it looks like so far...

Friday, October 25th - Friday, November 1st
Staying at All-Star Music
just 2 people!

10/25
Fly into MCO late.
Sleep. Ha.

10/26
Hollywood Studios

10/27
Magic Kingdom

10/28
EPCOT
Via Napoli for dinner

10/29
Magic Kingdom
Be Our Guest for dinner

10/30
Animal Kingdom
Sanaa for dinner

10/31
EPCOT
Via Napoli for dinner (option #2)
or...go to MK at some point
Be Our Guest for dinner (option #2)

11/01
Hollywood Studios
fly home late

We'll be there during F&W, which is cool and something we've never done before. My partner is going to look at places where she might want to eat, but this may be a pretty low-key trip, especially if there isn't free dining.

POFQ, October 19-26, we are booked!!! Hope we can keep FQ if/when a discount comes out, POR is our second choice.

:yay:

Any suggestions on a building? Would like to be near the food court and bus stop and do not want to face a pool.

We are now a little under six months out! :thumbsup2
You know what that means?! ADR!
Luckily since we decided to go I have been a little.... DISNEY CRAZY! Reading anything and everything I can, and planning like a mad woman! Ironically, I am totally not a planner by nature, actually the complete opposite. lol. :rotfl2:
It's just something about Disney that brings out the OCD in me...
Any who, Where were we, oh yeah ADR!
We will be staying in a Lion King Suite at AoA October 27- November 2.
10/28 Akershus 8am
10/29 Garden Grill 6:40pm
10/30 Hollywood and Vine 8am
50's Primetime 7pm
10/31 Tony's Town Square 4:25pm - We were looking at MNSSHP this day but after comparing prices we are thinking of doing it November 1st
11/1 Chef Mickey's 8:05am

I know it is heavily loaded with Character meals, but we opted for the Dining Plan and being my daughter's first trip and at the time we go she will be almost 5, I feel like they will be extraordinarily magical to her. Also the more characters we can knock out with meals, the less time we will spend waiting in line, right? :mickeyjum:donald::sulley::simba::goofy::figment:

Hope you have a fabulous time!!

Plane tix purchased last night, so it is official! We will be at POP Oct. 18-26!

How are the crowds that week? We have always gone the last week of Sept, and last year the crowds were higher than usual :( so DH wants to try Oct. We had originally planned for the 12 - 19, but we are going with Friends who have never been and we are trying to save them as much money as possible. Flights from DAY are cheaper on weekdays right now (hoping maybe FD for the 18th :))

I really wanted to go the week of the 19th - my DH's 40th is the 23rd and even though he's not OH WOW DISNEY WOO HOOOOOO I thought it still would have been fun to be at WDW on his bday, for the kids if not him. Unfortunately he has a business trip that week. :(

Crowds are moderate, MK is usually busier on Saturdays, but overall, it is a great time to visit. The weather can be all over the place (just like at home ), so you have to pack for all temps, but we have had little to no rain the last 5 Octobers. :goodvibes The airfare for our dates has jumped significantly, so if you want to fly, book as soon as you see them at a decent price. We are hoping to get free dining, but going regardless. :goodvibes

Got my ADRs today including BoG for a party of 8 I am so excited!!!! Also got 'Ohana and akershus breakfast

OH MAN! I'm SO GLAD I found you guys!! Currently planning a trip for October 6-12, 2013. It will be the very first trip for DH, me and our 2 boys without any other family! Oldest DS will be almost 14 and youngest DS will be 9 - perfect ages! DH thinks I'm crazy for starting to plan this far out, but I'm obsessed with Disney! LOL As you all can relate apparently! :thumbsup2

We LOVE October. We've been in July, October, November, December and January - but October is by far our favorite - smaller crowds and still warm! We'll be doing MNSSHP again - got to start our matching costumes this summer so they're sewn in time for next year. And the BEST PART.......we normally stay value - but this time....POLY BABY!!!! Can't wait!!

I'm submitting a friend request to our facebook page!! Thanks!!

We are staying Oct 6- 13 and staying at the poly, too!

Seeya there!
