October 2013 Code Watch?!

So is there any hope for the 1st week/2nd wk in Oct that isn't included in the FD? I tried to switch our dates but couldn't make it happen due to work and DD school schedule. So bummed but DH was so calm and said we booked it thinking we were paying for the meal plan and my reply I mentally had the savings spent on Disney stuff- BBB and bday treats to room etc. Happy to those you got to use it.

Thanks for posting this! I was about to give up our LM room, but maybe I'll hold off.

The pin code email specifically states that the LM rooms at AOA are not included in the free dining discount. If its not included for the pin, it's likely it won't be included for the GP FD discount.

I know!! Do you think it would be wise to go ahead and switch to POP now so I get a better chance at my room choice before any FD details come out? I don't think my room choice is considered preferred, 60s building lake view upper floor if possible.

Just for convenience sake, you may want to go ahead and switch, but booking a certain room or room category will not "save" you a room for a FD promo, as all resorts are only allotted so many FD rooms/discounts per resort.

I'm not a fan of the DDP. However I've been watching because I thought I might move if a good RO rate came out. (at POFQ GV right now and would maybe switch to POR prefered if FQ was out of the discounts), but now think I might be within the dates if OCT offers FD.

I'm already paying rackrate so it's not like it would cost me more. I don't eat all that many TS (and I'm not a dessert eater or a soda drinker plus a coffee snob so mugs are a waste), but if it's the same money or less then I could get it and use it to pay for the two ADR's I do have planned, then just use what I use and don't worry about using up all the other credits. I'm sure I can use all the snack credits on F&W days.

Of course it will matter if they have a time limit on it. I'm only staying 4 nights so if it requires a 5 night stay then it's all moot.

I'm not a big fan of getting something for the sake of getting something but I did go look at some ADR's today and might plan on one for our first night in (we were planning on EoS at DTD). I have one signature so that would take care of two of them right there and a reg TS on our last morning so really just one more TS. I might end up dumping some QS credits but it's not like I'd be losing money.

ACKKKKKK! I'm OCD about pre planning so I'd have a whole new "thing" to learn, and figure out how to use meal credits when half my trip is snack centered at F&W. I may prepare just in case as I don't want to be rushing it in Aug when rates come out.

All free dining promos have a 3 night minimum and 14 day maximum booking requirement. Any other verbiage you see is solely for advertising purposes. Also, as of January 2012, they will allow you to "trade" TS credits for CS credits. Also, Snack credits can be used at the F&W booths.

A 5 night stay is not required, it is a min of 3 nights from what I understand. I think prepping before the discount comes out is a great idea!

No Pin here either. Currently booked at POP starting 10/19. Don't plan on DDP due to eating habits and desire for ordering flexibility, but if FD is offered, will likely upgrade to a moderate as we do have a bunch of TS meals booked.

I got a pin here as well and ours was for a minimum stay of 5 nights so maybe it all depends on the PIN number. As for the free dining general offer it has been my experience that it is usually a minimum of 4 nights. Good luck to all of those waiting for a PIN or Free dining.

I just booked for POR garden Oct 22-29.

So is the general consensus that if a room only discount comes out that it will be for the dates of the recent PIN code for free dining? I sure hope not because our check in date is 10-5 and that ends on 10-2.

I hope not too! We have the same check in and based on the historical there should be something, but starting to get nervous now with the PINs out.

My guess is that there will not be anything offered during that time. It is close to the columbus day holiday and generally they do not offer any discounts leading up to and including the week after columbus day.

The Pin that I received included arrivals as you stated untill 10-2 but also included 10-18 to 10-31 for the rest of October. Leaving out the columbus day weekend. My hope is that there will be Free Dining during the same time as on my PIN. I have my inlaws that want the same deal but Disney would not lets us use it for them.

So is it usual that they have 2 whole black-out weeks in October with no discount at all? We are also checking in on 10/5 and would like a discount of some sort! I guess I'm surprised that they have left half of October (15 days, from 10/3 to 10/17) with no discount. I understand around Columbus day but CD isn't until Oct. 14th, so I would have thought the blackout wouldn't start until the 7th at the earliest.

I agree. I was thinking it would be 2 weeks, but it would go from 10/12-10/25 to surround CD 10/14. I am hoping whatever they make, all us Diser's find a way to a score free dining!!

For the last several years, FD has been blacked out starting on the Friday before Columbus Day, so hopefully they will follow suit for 2013 and extend FD through 10/10.

Concerning to me as well. I've been looking at the current bounceback and the free dining pins, and that two black out is killing me! I thought by booking the week before Columbus Day, we'd be in the clear, but so far, it appears not. I've currently got a AAA discount at POFQ, and it's saving us some money but a good room only or free dining would be even lovelier.

And btw, hi! :wave2: First time I posted on this thread. :lmao: Probably should have started with that. ;)

Yes, other than the August dates, most of these dates will probably drop for the general public this summer, probably July.
