***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

Yeah, I say  to all the husband bashing - but whatever.

My DH is a much better/faster packer than I am, having lived for years out of a suitcase due to his profession.

We both wait until the night before and are able to pack pretty darned quickly. I have never packed for him, nor would I ever, any more than he would pack for me. He's not a little kid or something. I honestly wouldn't even know what to pack for him. I don't know which shorts are his favorites, or which underwear don't ride up on him, etc. Which shirts he wants to wear? He likes certain materials when it's really hot - I don't pay attention to which ones those are. He can do his own packing.

We also stay offsite where there is a washer/dryer, so we don't need to bring all that much. I have started making the small pile of "stuff" (camera, tickets, rain ponchos, etc.) but will go through it the night before and double check that we have it all. We also rent a car, so we don't get too uptight if we forget something - a quick ride over to Super Target or something and we can get whatever we might have forgotten - no biggie.

I'd like to think that's not what I was implying. I'm already packing for myself so it's just as easy for me to do it. My husband is smart enough, though, not to complain if I forget something.

I used to pack for my DH, until we had kids. Our oldest is 5 yo and DH will still be surprised when he figures out the night before that I'm not packing for him.

This trip though I have been sorta pre packing for him. Don't want to find out the night before we leave that he doesn't have enough shorts/tshirts/etc for the trip. I've been there/done that with him. He changes in clothes size so much it's hard to know what fits him. He rarely wears shorts, except to the gym.

I pack for DH, because he wants me to and I have a certain way of packing things. He lays out his things and I pack for him. We work together like a well oiled machine!

My DH worked for UPS during college and is a packing master. Not just packing his clothes etc., but when he packs the back of the car it's like a real life tetris game!

FINALLY! We are OFFICIALLY booked for WDW for October 21!!

Lots of things kept happening, and we considered DL instead..... but I'm thrilled to be going to Food and Wine (again) and MNSSHP (first time!)!!

Woohooo!!! :yay:

Sounds like my DH! He was a sorter, then a loader, then loading supervisor during his college days. He can pack the trunk and the back of the van with much more than I can imagine it holding. Too bad he doesn't apply the same technique to loading the dishwasher. He's not efficient at all, lol.

That sounds like me. We have a LOT of family in Southern Indiana (all of our family actually) and every Thanksgiving and Christmas I have to cram so much stuff into the van it's ridiculous! Both kids' birthdays surround Thanksgiving, so that trip it is all of their birthday presents and then Christmas is always crazy between the stuff they get and the stuff DH and I get. Thankfully, they are getting into the nicer, more expensive gifts, so I hope to not have as much to deal with this year. I've had to do this for 9 years... I sure could use a break. :rotfl:

My DH worked for UPS too! He was a sup on the twilight sort. He still can't pack though

This is us, too! We go to my side of the family in KY for Thanksgiving and bring all of our Xmas gifts for them. Then we come back with all of our Xmas gifts from them. We don't open there, so I have to fit all the stuff in plus our luggage and us in the car to get back home!

I feel sick. Like sick to my stomach. I'm so excited about this trip but now I'm just...I guess I'm nervous? I don't know but it's like a knot in my stomach. How could I be feeling so stressed about this vacation? Hopefully when we get there I feel better.

I'm gonna go over my packing list later and maybe I'll calm down!

I know how you're feeling! I feel the same way. It's hard to sleep and I'm running off cappuccino everyday. I have been nervous feeling all week, like I'm waiting on something bad to happen! I know I will feel better once I get through this coming week and I will only have 7 more days!

No, I used to pack for DH, but then he would complain because I left this or that behind (usually they were t-shirts that he didn't need to be wearing infront of children anyways) and I wouldn't hear the end of it throughout the entire vacation. So I stopped packing for him and he packs his own stuff, usually forgetting some critical thing that we have to buy from the shops later.

He'll set all of his stuff out for me and I'll pack it.

16 days until we leave, 17 days until our first park day!!!

Coming here to share my joy since my coworkers and friends have to be tired of hearing about it and DH isn't nearly as excited yet!

DD still doesn't know. She'll know something is up the night before we leave when the dog isn't at home (we're boarding her and leaving super early the next day). I think I'm going to tell her we're going to visit family- not a lie. :) My brother and his wife will be at WDW when we are too!

I have a stash of movies I've bought to surprise her with and some books for her to read on the way down.

Next week I'll start packing some items- shoes, costumes, books/movies for ride. I also have to seriously clean my car and get new tires!
