***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

So is anyone else considering going to MNSSHP 2x during their trip. When we went to MVMCP last December I was kind of disappointed because there was so much we didn't do. Granted we had a DISmeet and I made some great friends through that, but we missed out on all the characters and only did one attraction.

I was thinking if we did 2 MNSSHP that one night would be dedicated to just the characters & events and another night for some attractions and maybe another DISmeet.

We went twice on our last trip, and we're glad we did. There is so much to do and see. We concentrated on meeting characters and candy one night and seeing shows and the parade the other night, and, of course, the fireworks both nights. It worked out really well for us. Just be sure to allow yourself some time to rest the days of. We were exhausted at the end of the nights and the next day.

I think I'm just gonna do one night. Mostly for the cool parade, fireworks and walk ons for lots of rides (or so I hear). Luckily for me my kids aren't very interested in characters much. Other than my daughter with the princesses but we're doing character dinner and then going to the meeting spot for them on a reg. MK day and then all of them with Mickey. So if we go we'll only be going once.

I am really looking forward to seeing the villains. On a regular day you don't get to see them. Although, now having made my way through most of book 4 of the Kingdom Keepers series... I'm not so sure! :scared1:

How are those books? I asked the library to hold the first one when it comes in.

We are only planning on doing the one MNSSHP. Our reasons are due to our travel dates the only parties we could do would be on Oct 31st and Nov 1st, and I think doing them on consecutive nights would be too much for us. Also neither husband and I are particularly into halloween (it's not very big over here) and the other issue is the cost! We'd like to go to one for the decorations, (hopefully) low ride queues, parade and the fireworks...not so fussed about the meet and greets or trick or treating.

Checking in again!! :)

I think we are only doing one MNSSHP as well. I have never been to one,so I guess if we don't get to do everything this trip, it just gives us another reason to go back to DW!!:rotfl:

Also, I have a question, and it might have been asked already...my dates are Oct. 14-21 (as of now) Is it usually busier during this time of October? I've noticed that a lot of schools have breaks during this time. I'm sure it will be managable, but I just wanted to see!!:) I hope everyone has a great day!

According to touringplans.com, your crowd predictions are very low. They rank crowds 1-10 with 1 being the lowest & 10 being the highest. The highest ranking throughout the week was a level 4. On Saturday the 20th, it's a level 9 so watch out for that day! But every other day looks great :thumbsup2

Newbie here - long time lurker, first time poster! :woohoo: Just returned from a mother-daughter October trip which was so much fun that my husband and I are planning an early Oct 2012 trip! We usually stay at POP, but I'm hoping to try a moderate this time. I figure this trip is a good time to use a moderate as a stepping stone (sticker shock-wise) to my not-so-secret plan to stay at a monorail deluxe on our Dec '13 trip for my 35th birthday! Any recommendations as to which moderate is best?

We are booked for Oct 17-20, 2012 at CR-TPV  Just a short fall break trip for the kids to go to MNSSHP (hopefully 2x) and a half day at Epcot to experience a little of F&W. Our kids will be 2, 3, 9 & 10 at the time of the trip. Cant wait!!! :cool1:

Wow MNSSHP twice? I wish, but once will have to do since $$$ is always a consideration. Are there many rides open?

I'm booked at POP but seriously considering a Moderate. I have read very awesome things about POR (Port Orleans Riverside) but they ALL have pros and cons.

Head over the the resort board and there are threads for CSR, CBR, POR etc. for moderates! Good luck deciding! I'm leaning towards POR. :thumbsup2

Welcome! Before we decided to rent points at AKV, I couldn't decide between POFQ, POR, and CSR (for some reason CBR just wasn't on my radar). I've heard great things about all three. If you want a smaller resort with only 1 bus stop to deal with, POFQ is the way to go. Plus it was recently refurbished and looks great! And you're right next door to POR and can use all their amenities.

Adding you to the list!

Most of the attractions are open. I've never had a problem going on the popular stuff (Space, Splash, Big Thunder, Pirates, HM, etc). The lines are pretty short if you don't pick a sold out MNSSHP.

Jenny what are the crowd predictors saying for our trip? :goodvibes

For the week, the highest it gets is a 5. Saturday is a different story! That's a 9. I'll be doing a waterpark that day, thank you very much!

Is that because of Columbus Day? I didn't even know about that holiday before I booked the trip! I was pissed! lol I think that the Saturday will end up as a rest day for us at the hotel/Downtown Disney day.

We'll be there October 2012 for our 30th Anniversary.

We signed up for Disney Visa and got our package through Triple A, and would love to hear of any and all deals available!

We're getting the Deluxe Dining Plan so we can have lots of snack credits and eat at Signature Restaurants, if we can get reservations, since it's a special occasion and just the two of us.

Got a Magic Kingdom View in Contemporary's Tower, a dream since we were kids!

Will be only my second time to Disney, first time being on my Honeymoon. Epcot had just opened then!

I'm hoping to earn some Disney Rewards through the Disney Visa, and would love to hear where we can use those. Don't think we'll need it for food, since we have such a big meal plan, and we're not big souvenir shoppers, so please, give tips to where we can spend them!

Thrilled the F&W will be going on, as it will be a great chance to sample different foods and hopefully catch some good music. Can't wait to get my Passport stamped.

Just an FYI on Columbus Day. Our anniversary is always around Columbus Day, and we've always had a challenge taking a trip for it. We know from experience now, to book well ahead of time. Since we're doing the Contemporary MK view, we booked a year in advance!

Triple A agent said she'll adjust the price if any specials come available, so please keep us informed, and I'll share anything I hear as well.

Curious to hear how the crowds are in October. I figure Columbus Day weekend will be busy, so saving F&W for midweek.

Any advice on what park to see on Columbus Day weekend? We'll have a Park Hopper pass, so we'll park hop if one is too crowded. Hoping Animal Kingdom won't be too crowded. Can't wait to see that one!

I've stayed at CBR and loved it (although it was 10 years ago!), this time we're booked to stay at POR. I've to CSR and wasn't overly keen, but I know some people do love it.

I would recommend at King room at CBR. I've stayed there twice, the second time with DH earlier this year and he loved it as well. He wanted to stay there again this next trip.

Also, we have now officially booked!! YAY!!! And we have a slight date change. We will now be there from Sept 29 - October 7!!! :cool1: :cool1:
