***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

Last year we bought raglan t-shirts (black 3/4 sleeves, white torso) from a bulk shirt distributor and ironed on a design: Mickey or Minnie head with each person's name on it (designed on our computer then printed onto iron-on paper). We also ordered some cute Mickey tie-dye shirts via Etsy.

This year we are using both of last year's shirts, plus our old Halloween shirts from Matcheez.com, navy polos we ordered via CustomInk.com (for my in-law's 40th anniversary - yay!) and a new shirt we're making ourselves.

On Pinterest I found a SIMPLE make-at-home shirt. I bought plain red t-shirts for everyone, cut out a Mickey head template, and picked up some letters from the craft store. Then I mixed up a 20% solution of bleach and water, placed the Mickey head and letters on a shirt, and spritzed the air above each shirt, letting the bleach mixture float down onto the fabric until it was nicely bleached, leaving the Mickey head and name dark red. Then I moved the Mickey head template and name letters over to the next shirt and started spritzing again. Easy, and I love the way they turned out!

As soon as the shirts we ordered from Etsy this year come in, I'll post pictures of all 6 styles!

We are also making those shirts with bleach/water mixture! Gotta love Pinterest! :thumbsup2 We're also going to try making another shirt with a swirled mickey head on them using a bleach pen. Not sure if we'll give tye dying a shot or not.

Hi Everyone!! New here! First timer for DW!! Im very excited. I'll be going the 18-25 with the Dh, DD and DS Im trying to figure out a lot of the lingo here lol. Our trip was last minute. We have been wanting to go forever but my DH decided for whatever crazy reason to book it all last min to save money. So Yes we saved big time!! But Im feeling crazy over planning this all in less than 38 days. Im feeling like we should have stayed 8-10 days as coming from cali we loose practically one day in travel time each way :( It feels overwhelming all the stuff there is to do!
We are staying at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. My husband works for the company but lol we actually bought our week on ebay! So Im not sure if we should rent a car or not. We still havnt bought our dw tix yet. I think we are going to go through yes program. And I want to go to MNSSHP but im not sure DH wants to spend that extra $. Well I hope to make some new friends here!

:wave2: Welcome! Excited for you, you are going to have a great time on your first trip!

After calling 2 times before with no luck, I called a 3rd time and just got the fall discount applied to my existing (and paid for) reservations!!! :cool1: Disney's refunding me $544 for our stay at the Polynesian this October  I wouldn't have known to ask for it, if it weren't for the awesome people here on The DIS to show me the way. THANK YOU DIS'ers!!! :goodvibes
...Oh, and only 3 weeks to go!

The question here is Why did it take you 3 calls? That's awesome you got the discount but Disney is notorious about inconsistencies.

If you haven't yet bought your tickets, I would recommend looking at Undercover Tourist, which usually has good discounts. Then again, YES tickets are also a good price if they work for you and your schedule.

The "to rent a car or not" question is one of the age old questions on these boards. You can find plenty of opinions on both sides in earlier posts. You will be fine without a car and you will be fine with a car. Don't worry too much about it.

38 days is plenty of time to plan a great trip. You will miss out on some of the most coveted ADRs (but you could keep trying - openings do happen) but you can get ADRs easily at the majority of restaurants. You will have a great time!

Question about MNSSHP

Where to buy tickets???

I"m finding different prices on the official Disney page than on the Dis board, and the Dis prices are more??

So confused.

http://www.wdwinfo.com/holidays/halloween.htm#tickets
October 21, 23, 25

Advance Purchase: Adults $62.79, Child $57.46
Same Day Purchase: Adults $69.18, Child $63.85

The 28th is showing a higher price
Advance Purchase: Adults $62.79, Child $57.46
Same Day Purchase: Adults $69.18, Child $63.85

BUT SEE

Sunday, October 21, 2012
Tuesday, October 23, 2012
Thursday, October 25, 2012
Sunday, October 28, 2012

All showing the same price, and lower, as follows:

$58.95 + tax (adult) and $53.95 + tax (child) (Advance)

$64.95 + tax (adult) and $59.95 + tax (child) (Day of Party)

Should I be looking anywhere else? ARe there advantages to paying those higher DIS prices?

Am I completely clueless? It is possible.

Also........ are any dates in late October sold out yet? How do I find that out?

Thanks so much!!!

Hi!

I think the DIS website prices already include the tax :goodvibes

I haven't heard of any party nights being sold out yet - although often the 30th/31st do I think :thumbsup2

:) glad I could help - it's something that I have to remember to add to prices too while in the USA as our sales tax is already included in the price (20%!)

25 days to go - sooo excited!!

Leaving SC after work Oct 4th!!!!! :dance3: Will be there from late evening of the 4th until afternoon of the 14th!!:woohoo: Haven't been for over 2 years and have really missed my Mickey Time! My best friend and her hubby will be down there for the same time period and my 'baby' (23) daughter and her best friend will be coming down for the first 4 days also.:cool1: F&W here we come! Not to mention every other thing there is to do in The World:rotfl: I made a list a few weeks back of everything I have missed in the past 2 years and hubby laughed at me and said "Honey, we will be there for 10 days, I think you'll be able to do it all;)":yay: Just a little excited, haven't started packing yet but am going shopping this week for stuff I might need, ya' know us girls Always need some new clothes for a vacation:lmao:

Thanks Anna114, I'm very happy about it. Yes, it took some work. To explain the 3 calls (the best I can):

Call 1: No garden view rooms at the Polynesian were "released" for the fall discounts, but they had rooms at the GF for us for around $300 discount, or I could upgrade to CL at the Poly with a discount (uh, no, not in the budget). I wanted to stay at Poly, so Disney agent told me to call back a week later to see if garden view Poly rooms were released.

Call 2 (a week later): Again, same no garden view Poly, and got the Poly CL or GF offer. Again, I pass on both (as a note, nothing was available at the Contemporary at the time).

Call 3 (today, 4 days after 2nd call): Bingo! Garden View rooms released at the Poly for fall discount. They "re-booked" a room for us and will have the discount credited back to our credit card.

I'm not sure if anyone else is currently attempting this, but stay positive and keep trying. Dreams Come True! pixiedust:

Don't know your exact dates but CR finally did release wing rooms with the discount, along with tower, bay lake view, but excluded our category, theme park view from the discount. So, I paid rack <$500 per night and got free dining. I uess it beats nothing...........

I really want some feedback on my ADRs and plans in general.

10/23 - arrive late (nothing to do except sleep)
10/24 - HS - rope drop; 1:30 MM; Fantasmic dinner package
10/25 - EP - rope drop; F&W for lunch. 5ish for MNSSHP.
10/26 - MK - CP 8:15 (is this early enough for early touring plans?); 4:00 HDDR (think I should change to 6:15)
10/27 - AK - rope drop; Boma at 5pm; campfire at FW
10/28 - EP - maybe rope drop? late lunch at Akershus; 7:30 flight home

Goal is to have time to relax. No naps necessary but time to enjoy cruising around FW in the golf cart (highlight for the kids!) or decide to stay at a park or leave... don't want the ADR to totally set the day and night.

I feel like I'll have 2 half days in EP and 2 half days in MK (well, if you count MNSSHP from 5-10).

I also wanted to fit in a meal at WC. We are staying at FW so WC is close. Willing to drop CP as we've been there twice before for breakfast. Willing to pass on Fantasmic or at least the dinner package as we've also done MM and Fantasmic twice before.

Never done F&W (:cool1:), HDDR, MNSSHP, Boma, Akershus or WC. While it's not all about Mom, I was looking forward to doing some things I've never done before. I feel slightly guilty b/c my DD6 probably doesn't remember some of the other events like Chef Mickey, CP, etc., but if Mom's happy, everyone will be happy, right? :thumbsup2

I'm willing to move MNSSHP to 26th if necessary, but I suspect it will be busier. Willing to move HDDR too if it fits a better night. Actually, I'm wiling to move a lot to get the ADRs done!

TIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are from SC too! In the upstate area! It's been so nice here lately it makes me hope for mild days when we invade the world!
