October 2011...Who's all going? Vacation dates and lodging

I am taking that HoJo glitch as a sign, not sure why I did not think of making it a 5 day trip in the first place!

I love October/Halloween already, Disney just makes it more fun. However, I already have plans for a Disney Halloween trip. It's our 1st WDW trip!!! I'm already on there two October check in threads, but they aren't as fun as the DL threads. I'll be following along. I love looking at the pictures, seeing, the plans, whos going to the parties and what they are wearing.

Thats something we'll have in common. What's everyone going to be at the Halloween parties? Are you doing a group theme? Just a silly shirt (this is my costume, now give me ur chocolate!!)?

I love Halloween at WDW! No crowds, weather is so nice, cheap rates. You will find lots of CM and ex-CM ;) in the parks at that time. After being so hot we all just wanted to play in the parks when the weather was nice. Oh and the AK animals are out more often so do not miss the Kilimanjaro Safari!

Very important!!! Do not forget to make your ADRs the first moment you can (180 days out) for the table service restaurants and shows. Seriously they book up super fast even in slow season.

We usually go in January but this year planning for October 16 - 22 staying at Howard Johnson's.
Very excited to see Disneyland decorated for Halloween, first time for us.

Welcome to DISboards, Carrie!

How did I miss you? My humblest apologies for not adding you to the list earlier. I hope I don't give you a bad impression. I have been so busy that I have been quickly glancing over the posts for this thread, so that must be how I missed your post. Well you are added now!

You will so enjoy DL's Halloween Time. Fall isn't the same for me unless I go to DL and see all the Halloween decor, pumpkins on Main Street, the pumpkin carvers and attend Mickey's Halloween Party. I am sure you will want to come back in October again!

Just reserved our first night Oct 1 at the beginning of the trip, so we will be staying at VGC for the whole Oct 1-6 ... now to just resist the temptation to come in another day earlier ... already have a tentative reservation at Courtyard for Friday Sept 30 so we could do one more park day/spend more pool/resort time when at VGC. Oh the problems I create for myself by buying an AP!

Yeah you got to book that first night for VGC! I have a reservation at the Anaheim Marriott Suites, but I'm hoping to book the VGC with my SSR points next month. Now you got me thinking about keeping my Friday night booking at the Marriott, and book three nights at the Villas. That way I cover a weekday and a Friday for MHP. I wish they would announce the Party dates soon, but it will most likely be in May.

just stopping in to say you can remove us from the list. alternative plans have been put into the works..thanks Hope you guys all have fun!!!

Well, maybe you can come next year? Think about it. Have fun on your cruise!

We are still working on nailing down our dates... but I am SO excited that I had to post!

I have not been to Disneyland in nearly 16 years and it has been 12 for my boyfriend. Halloween is our favorite holiday and we are beyond excited to celebrate at DL. Joining the DisBoards and reading about all of the exciting special events has got me hoping the next 8 months will fly by.

I'll be back when we get our trip booked (hopefully SOON)!

We will be at DL 10/9-10/14 staying at the Hojo for 2 nights and Dolphin Cove for 3 nights.

So excited since we missed Halloween Time last year!!

I really wanted to do a xmas trip do-over but my mom has never been to DL during halloween or for "their" version of Mickey's party (we have been twice) and so we are seriously thinking about going this year. We already have a trip booked in June but at this point it is all just speculation depending on jobs, money and all that fun stuff. IF we go it will probably be for a 4 day weekend like we usually do. We would leave on a Thursday evening and stay Friday through Monday. Probably mid to late Oct. If and when we make our plans I will add our names to the list. Prob won't be till much later in the year though, possibly not till after my summer trip or if something good comes along. In the past we were able to get some really good deals on rooms on property but this time of year has become so popular that I somehow doubt that will happen anymore LOL.

I really hope it works out though cuz I would really like to go to the party AT DL.

Hope to be back adding my name in the near future!! :)

Thanks for the advise. I'm not sure we are going to do any table service meals, though. My Little Monkey (DS3) doesn't do very well at sit down resturants, he gets to excited. Knowing that is so much happening around him will just magnify the "ants in his pants". I'll be lucky if I can get him to eat anything for the whole week.;)

Has anyone decided on what to be for halloween yet? I was thinking a mob family. My concern is the weather, it may be to hot to pull it off. All the costumes are longs sleeved and pants. Little Monkey may want to be a Neverland Pirate. I do know I need to keep it simple with no hand held accessories lest I be a mule and haul the gear.

I hope you can come for Halloween Time at DL. You will have a great time and enjoy all the festive decor. 16 and 12 years between visits is much too long!;)

I hope so, too! I'll be sure to add your info when you post.

I'm out of town for the weekend. If anyone posts their dates and hotels, I'll update when I get back. Everyone have a great weekend!

We do an annual Disney Halloween trip in October every year. 2010 was the first year we went to DL and the biggest thing everyone kept pointing out is how nice the weather was. October weather in Florida is very unpredictable. I remember many more hot and humid October trips than cold ones. Our 2009 trip was unbearably hot and humid. Well into the 90s with 90% humidity and afternoon thunderstorms. Just be prepared for all weather.

We will be there!

I can't remember the exact dates at the moment. We will be going before and after the Mexican Riviera cruise on the 15th.

Right now, we are staying at the HOJO.

This will be our 2nd trip to DL.

We will be there 10/30-11/2 staying at the VGC.

We had a lot of fun last year. Love Disneyland Halloween-time and we're looking forward to this year!

How many days are you planning on staying before or after your cruise? Will you be able to go to Mickey's Halloween Party? Let me know your dates and I will add them to the list.

Added your dates to the first post, neighbor :). We go every October and love to be at DL in the fall. It is a great time to see the parks.

we're going for the 1st time ever- Oct 1-8-Worldmark Anaheim....
I know we're probably oddballs, but I didn't know about extra parties when we planned this date, and want to avoid the extra parties....are we crazy?
I assume we'll still have a great time,Disney doesn't disappoint,right?:thumbsup2

I am not sure if we will go to the halloween party. How does it compare to WDW? We have been to that party several times. We did not go this past October though.

I forgot to mention that this will be our 20th wedding anniversary trip. We usually go to WDW in October, but wanted to go on the Mexican Riviera cruise and to DL again. Our ressies at Hojo are tentative. If we can get into a Disney resort for a good price, we may change. We did stay at the Hojo the last time we were in DL.

I still need to look at the dates we will be there though.

You don't have to go to the parties to enjoy Halloween time at DLR; we never go and always love our Oct trips. Mainly it means on the nights of MNSSHP one park or the other will close early, last year it was DL bc of WOC,and most likely will be again this year. =)

I have added your dates to the first post. No it isn't odd to avoid Mickey's Halloween Party. This special event isn't for everyone. As taaren mentioned, there is lots to see and do during Halloween Time at the DLR. Visit the Halloween at DLR Superthread to learn more about Halloween Time. The first few posts are well worth your time to read for planning your October trip.

No hurry to post. When you do, I'll add them to the first post. Congrats on 20 years! An important milestone in a marriage, I think. I'm reaching my 18th this October. It is around the corner for me.

Mickey's Halloween Party is very different than the MK's MNSSHP. It was, at first, held in DCA. The Party has had different names over the years. Last year was the first year it was called Mickey's Halloween Party and was held in DL. It has grown to be more and more like the WDW event, but with the DL flare. Last year's event was the first time there was a fireworks show that was only offered during MHP. The fireworks show had a Nightmare Before Christmas feel behind it and was called "Halloween Screams". Instead of a parade, there is a cavalcade, but I wouldn't be surprised that this evolves into a full parade. The cavalcade has become a little bit larger and more elaborate every year. Lots of candy were handed out at candy stations located throughout the Park. Visit this post of the Halloween at DL Superthread to find out what was offered at last year's event.

It was also held in DL because of the construction in DCA, which covered a large part of the park. It will most likely be held in DL again this year, because the construction scheduled for this year covers more of DCA than last year. I wouldn't be surprised if it will continue to be held in DL after the DCA renovations are completed. But we are talking about DL, and Disney is famous for it's unpredictability when it comes to their plans for DLR.

Mostly likely MHP information and dates will be announced later this spring. When they are announced, I'll will post it here and it will posted in the Halloween at DL Superthread.

Looks like we are officially joining the October list. I just booked a 2br lockoff at VGC before our Mexican Riviera cruise! We are getting in just under the wire since our annual passes expire the day we leave on the cruise.

I sent an email off suggesting a parade for the Halloween party to rival Boo To You. I think that's the only thing missing from a DL Halloween party. I also stated how great it would be to have a Halloween "overlay" on WOC.

Doesn't hurt to ask!

Of course I'm a big fan of the Halloween parties. I think they are well worth the admission. We plan to go to a weekday party this year, in hopes of smaller crowds. Even the Friday party last year, while crowded, was totally doable.

We are going as the seven dwarves this year. I'm just getting the appropriate color shirts, adding the names and making hats. I key word is comfort for my family. It's sad to see my daughters age out of their princess dresses, but it ends the worry of them getting caught on rides or tripping.

That is awesome to be able to book a 2 bedroom lockoff in October. What are your dates? I'll add your dates to the first post. Some other DIS'ers are going on the same cruise. Denine will be on the Mexican Riviera cruise on the 15th. Is that your same cruise?

No, it doesn't hurt to ask! It can only help.

I wouldn't be surprised if the cavalcade is a parade this year. With the Wonder in So. Calif., it would be just like Disney to have the MHP offer more and more elaborate activities and build up the ones they have in place during the MHP. That way more and more cruise guests will book longer stays at DLR.

I can't wait to see your Seven Dwarfs this year! Be sure to post a picture.

See, I was so excited that I totally forgot to post dates!:rotfl2: We will be there from October 12-16 and will be on the October 16th cruise. We already did the cruise in January, but it fit in perfectly with our fall break and we had such a great time that we wanted to do it again.
