I had a question about late October. I know there is a big conference in the 3rd week that books a lot of the rooms. Do these people frequent the parks too, or are they mainly there for the conference? I was just wondering because I was thinking of going from the 17th till the 27th, and I was curious if that would effect crowd levels?
Actually I like your math better, this means I turn 30 this year instead of 40 - lol![]()
How is it hard to understand this. last year Disney said they were weening discounts and now that they are holding true to their words you find it hard to believe? Over the last however long I've expressed in this very thread
that you are all in denial that its just not going to happen and you still are...
I hope a miracle happens cause i need a discount too but i dont
think this miracle is going to occur...I have one last breath holding that it does but I pulled the trigger and booked the rack rate room cause
contractary to what you say of there being "plenty" of availability (love how people exxagerate so much) there really isnt crap left part of the second, all
of the 3rd and 4th week of October....So dont get peoples hopes up by saying this....Ya theres plenty if you goto a value resort, yuck...and The Grand Floridian club level , but theres no regular rooms at Beach Club, No Yacht Club, Animal Kingdom or Boardwalk, so if there is any discount realeased its prob NOT going to include deluxes. they dont need to fill these
during this time period.
Great post... the comment about "a value resort, yuck" is what bothered me the most. I could afford to stay anywhere on property, but I prefer to stay at a value because...
1. We are at the parks from morning to night-- why pay more for something you just need to sleep in?
2. I could stay in fancy hotels anywhere in the country, but the only hotel that I can pass by an enormous Baloo and Mowgli on the way to breakfast is POP, so that's where I choose to stay.
Some people stay at values because of necessity, and others stay there because it's their preference. I see nothing "yuck" about either of those reasons.
Yeah, I was kinda taken with stay at a value, yuck comment as well. What is wrong with a value resort? I am with smitch425. Why would I want to spend $300+ a night on a room that I will never be at? Doesn't make sense to me. Plus staying at a value (or Mod) means we can stay longer AND always stay on site. Also, I have stayed at POP, ALL stars movies, GF, Y&B, and POFQ. To me the values are more fun, laid back, and have a greater Disney Vibe. IF there's a discount, we choose POFQ 1st, after that it'll always be POP.![]()
I checked my records.
Last year on June 10, I made a reservation at the Swan for $149 per night for Oct. 30 to Nov. 6.
On July 15th, a code came out that allowed us to book as part of grand gatherings for Oct. 30-Nov. 6 at a value with FD. Now, if you notice, that was DURING a technical blackout period. Apparently, there were lots of codes during black out periods. We did the FD, I can say it was a reasonable deal.
Suffice to say, if I were a betting man, I would say this thursday is when they will open it up to FD for Oct. and to Dec.
This year, we are going Oct. 11-Oct. 18. We booked all our dining at the moment times came out since I figured may as well. If there is no FD, we will cancel all of them and probably eat off property since I have found that prices have gone up so much at on property restaurants as of late, that unless you have FD, they are way way overpriced. Just my 2 cents, but I have found the prices have gone up to make it appear like the dining plan is a huge deal.
The only downside is we are there during food and wine fest. Sadly, something that has gone down hill since 2000-2003 or so - I can not remember when it was that they stopped the free seminars etc.

If everyone here is so in denial, feel free to go rain on someone else's parade, we don't need your negativity here.

Well said!!!!![]()
i do not post much but been around a while here and nothing is gained from suggesting people can not look forward to deals....whether they play out or not.
i remember when deals were rare....i mean, when you had to pay full price for everything...i prefer to hope they will keep on coming. BTW, the economy is most certainly not as good as the media and markets seem to suggest...at not least in the trenches of this household.
Can say what I'd like to say, as it would sink me down to that level. But since you decided to call out my post, guess what?! I can think & hope what I want, just like you can. Hence why we have these wonderful things called opinions. You can think what you want & I can think what I want. No one knows what' going on behind closed doors at Disney except the people behind those doors. If they need to fill rooms, they'll offer something. I'm not even going in October & I haven't read thru this whole thread, only began recently since it may stand to reason that something coming up for October may pertain to December as well. I have no idea about the availability in October, I'm going in December, plenty of things open for then. & telling me I'm in denial.....well, I'll refrain my comment.
I have a plan in place in case they don't offer anything for our dates, it's called staying off-site cause as a larger family, we can't afford on-site without some kind of discount. The on-site rates are ridiculous & Disney knows this. I don't think I'm getting people's hopes up, obviouly a lot of people thinking the same thing hence why these threads have so many people on them, hoping for the same as me!
& since Values are so "yuck", well glad ya won't be there with me then. I don't stay deluxe, we need more room so that doesn't & wouldn't affect me & my family anyways.
& as far as the discounts being released on July 7th last year, historically the discounts for October-December aren't released until late July, early August. Last year was early but wow, one year out of a few.
Thank you for posting so kindly to my thread & bashing my thought process. I prefer to not give up hope though until my 45 days is here & I cancel & stay at the house I have booked instead.
Thank you & have a lovely Sunday afternoon, I plan too, without negitive thinking.
I prefer to be an optimist rather than a pessimist, it makes life so much more enjoyable. I also believe in miracles. So, you can keep your train of thought & I'll keep mine. & I can express mine just as well as you can. Differences make the world go round & it takes all kind of people to make this crazy world!
I'm an accountant, a CFO of a business in South Jersey. My company makes, sells parts to and services vehicles that are essential to school districts, municipalities and other businesses. If we're not selling things because the municipalities and state agencies can't afford things, that should tell people how truly bad the economy is.
The economy has no where near recovered. Nor is it going to for the next 2 to 3 years.
