Huh. I thought I'd already posted to this thread, but I guess not. We'll be in Orlando from October 1-9. It's the first Disney trip for all of us, and we'll be there for DD7's 8th birthday.

We're heading to Orlando on October 1, and spending one night at Universal (Hard Rock Hotel) so that we can get early entry and FOTL for WWoHP. We're just doing the one day at Universal, and then moving to the Poly-CL. We're at the Poly from the 2nd-8th, and then at the Swan for one night (because the PIN for the Poly wasn't good for the night of the 8th, and I could get a room at the Swan with Starwood points).

The Poly IPO has been great, and got all of our requested ADRs within about 15 minutes of our requested times. So far, plans include:

[Dining plans updated below]

We're planning on doing MNSSHP on our last night, Oct. 8. But I'm holding off on buying the tickets. I want to get closer and see what the weather is looking like - we really want to go, but that's a lot of money to spend if it ends up being a rain-soaked evening.

The kids know nothing about any of this. The whole trip is a surprise, and we're not revealing it until we wake them up to head to the airport early in the morning on October 1.

Tweaked our plans just a bit since I posted the above:

10/1 - arrive in Orlando just after 11 a.m. and head to Hard Rock Hotel. Spend the afternoon at US/IoA. Try to do dinner at Three Broomsticks in WWoHP.
10/2 - Early entry to IoA. Tour WWoHP first, then whatever else looks fun until an afternoon break. At break, head over to Disney and check in at the Poly. Dinner at 'Ohana at 6:30 p.m., followed by Water Parade and Wishes from the beach. (Note: if MSEP is still running, we may try to head over to the MK right after dinner just for the parade and fireworks).
10/3 - Magic Kingdom. Dinner at California Grill at 7:15 p.m. HalloWishes from the observation deck.
10/4 - Epcot. Dinner at 5:30 p.m. at Teppen Edo.
10/5 - Hollywood Studios. Dinner at 6:10 p.m. at Whispering Canyon Cafe.
10/6 - Animal Kingdom. Dinner at Boma at 7:00 p.m.
10/7 - Epcot. DD7's birthday dinner at Akershaus at 6:25 p.m., followed by Illuminations.
10/8 - Depends on how the kids are doing from the late night at Illuminations. No solid plans until MNSSHP.
10/9 - Hit some highlights at the kids' park of choice before heading to the airport after lunch.

Ugh. Now that I look at my plans, I may have to switch some things around to make sure we see MSEP. I didn't care so much about seeing Spectro, but I'd really like to see MSEP, and think the kids would love it too.

Just bought my WDW tickets today. 6-day park hoppers. All my ADR's are made, even though I had troubles with one of them. Took me 3 weeks to finally get Tusker House for breakfast on the date and time I wanted; and for the amount of people we had going. Kept checking daily :surfweb:and it finally paid off. :woohoo: Now it's all a matter of playing the waiting game. I hope times flies by.

Wow. 2 1/2 months have flown by since I last posted here. Just checked my countdown. 69 days until we are back in Orlando. Still just waiting for time to pass us by. We have first timers going with us, so plans are to take them to more than just Disney.

This is how are plans have shaped up.

Friday October 8th. Catch our flight at 10:50am our time and land in Orlando at 4:15pm. Pick-up rental car and drive over to resort (staying off-site).
Figuring we'll check in to resort about 5:30 or so.
7:30 dinner reservation at Shula's Steakhouse.

Saturday Oct. 9th. Head on over to Sea World for the day. Dinner back at the resort.

Sunday Oct. 10th. Head on over to Universal Studios. If not too busy, maybe head on over to IoA as well. Dinner at Margaritaville.

Monday Oct. 11th. Head on over to Cocoa Beach and Kennedy Space Center. First timers really wanted to go here. We've never been here either, so thought it would be fun to see. I've gotten recommendations for eating at Slow & Lo BBQ at Cocoa Beach. So going to give this place a try.

Tuesday Oct. 12th. First WDW day. Hollywood Studios. One of the only days Fantasmic is showing while we're there.
4:00 pm reservation at Sci-Fi.

Wednesday Oct. 13th. Magic Kingdom.
8:05 am breakfast reservation at CP. First character breakfast ever. :yay: Tour MK for most of the day. Head to DTD later in the afternoon.
4:15 pm dinner reservation at PH. Finish touring DTD. We've never really been here either so we wanted to see more of it this trip.

Thursday Oct. 14th. Islands of Adventure.
We're interested in seeing the new WWoHP. Plus we like all the parks in Orlando. I know there are a lot of people who like one or the other.
Dinner at Hard Rock Cafe.

Friday Oct. 15th. Epcot
2:15 lunch reservation at Le Cellier. If we're not too full from the F&WF. Stay for Illuminations.

Saturday Oct. 16th. Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom.
Plan is to do Animal Kingdom half day. Closes early so this should be long enough for us.
2:00 pm lunch reservation at Rainforest Cafe. Love the Orange Sherbet Margarita's. :drinking1 Yum
Head on over to Magic Kingdom. One of our only chances to see the Spectromagic Parade and Wishes.

Sunday Oct. 17th. Epcot half day.
3:00 pm lunch/dinner reservation at T-Rex. Head back to resort to pack up and get ready to head home. :sad2: Relax by the pool the rest of the evening. Maybe head back to one of the parks if we get bored and still have time.

Monday Oct. 18th. Animal Kingdom.
8:05 am reservation for Donald's Safari Breakfast. We're calling this our farewell breakfast. Last Disney thing we get to sneak in before having to go catch our flight in the afternoon. Maybe sneak in one last ride on EE and KRR. Head back to resort to check-out and head on over to the airport.
2:25pm. Flight leaves back home. Orlando vacation officially over. :sad1:

Until next time.

We're going at the end of October, and I'm having a really hard time deciding which days to go to which parks because of F&W and MNSSHP. I want to avoid Epcot Friday through Sunday b/c of the crowds. I want at least a couple of my MK to not be on MNSSHP party days so we don't have to leave by 7. I think going to morning EMH would be pushing it for my kids. My DH would like to go to evening EMH, but I don't think our kids can do a lot of late nights. I would like to do at least a couple for him. I don't know whether to enjoy EMH this time of year or still avoid them. I want to go to Fantasmic once but avoid the other Fantasmic day. It's all so mind boggling! :rotfl:

Oh! And we're trying to not buy PH b/c we are spending more money having to move our family up from value to moderate and we're buying MNSSHP tickets for one night. Cha-ching!

How are the rest of you planning?

Can I come play?

DD8, DS5 and I are taking my mom for her first Disney trip Oct 15-23 (possibly the 24th) staying at the Poly. Even more fun is that my brother, SIL and nephew who live over 1,000 miles from us are meeting us there on the 20th.

My kids have NO IDEA. We won't tell them until seconds before we leave. And we won't tell them my brother is going to be there until they walk up to us.

And I'm not telling anyone where we are eating, or that we are going to MNSSHP. :rolleyes1

We haven't been to F&W for almost 10 yrs. I can't believe it has been that long!! I'm really not sure which day (Sat. or Sun) would be more crowded at Epcot. I'm sure someone else would know. . ..

Stay away from Saturday!:scared1:

I agree. I've been on a weekend before. I can't remember if it was a Friday or Saturday night and it was crazy busy, loud, and lots of drinking going on.

I was wondering how Sundays are during F &W?

I don't know about everyone else but I'm here! We'll be there at the same time - I have 80 days to go! How come 80 days sounds so much longer than saying our trip is in October (seeing as it's August now)?

How are you deciding where to go? Are you getting park hoppers?

How are you deciding where to go? Are you getting park hoppers?

Yes, we got park hoppers. I would say we tend to go to the park that is open latest on that particular day. Or at least we end up there by the end of the day. So I always look at the park hours before booking our dining reservations. I figure out which park is open the latest each night and then try to make our dining reservations in that park or at a nearby resort. This way we don't waste a lot of time running all over Disney property.

Where is everybody?

I'm still here. :goodvibes

I posted here the other day on our plan of attack for each day. We've never been to the F&WF, so we decided to try it this year. We tried to avoid the weekend as much as possible. We'll tackle Epcot and the F&WF on Friday. Plan is to go back to Epcot on Sunday. We'll only be there half day, so hopefully the morning won't be as packed.

DW and I don't have any kids yet, so we're avoiding MK on the days MNSSHP is. If we had kids, might be a different story. We debated on going but decided to brave the crowds for F&WF instead.

We have park hoppers. We debated heavily on this as well. With prices going up, we decided to buy them right away. We usually hop at least 2 of the days we are there. Some of the days, we'll just spend the entire day at one park. We're just playing a waiting game now. popcorn::

All the ADR's are made, tickets bought and bags are starting to get packed. 63 days to go for us. :yay:
