October 2010 Car Rentals

just try plugging in all the codes listed here & on mousesavers for a starting point for 1 day rental from WDW.

you might find it more economical to combine your visitation offsite & book a weekend (3 day rental) & look for corp codes/coupons

if cost is an issue, don't forget to factor in gas (not much to U from WDW) & the parking fee @ Universal & tolls to KSC

fyi, there are guided bus tours available to KSC, would need to google for current info

Thank you for your help! :thumbsup2 After talking to some friends, I decided to stick to the Disney parks. I am going to US/IOA one day and I found that somebody posted on these forums a link to Dreams Unlimited. I found that for $2 more than the 2 park tickets on the official Universal site, I also get transporation. That's too good of a deal to pass up! I forgot who posted that information but THANK YOU whomever you are! :woohoo:

it is a great deal, didn't know it was still ongoing:thumbsup2 enjoy!

I was shocked too when we were looking for a mini van last January and found the rates were double what I wanted to pay. So I went to Priceline.com and bid very, very low, and as expected didn't get what I wanted, so the next day they invited me to bid again and I went up a few dollars and they took it! It was about half of the going rate and just what I wanted to pay.

Now, by the time January rolled around the prices had dropped a lot and my great deal had dropped to a good deal, but still about $10 less than what others were getting.

Now some friends are asking me to find them a vehicle for late Oct, so after looking through all 13 pages of this post I'm headed back to Priceline.

Good luck. I did the name your own price all morning on Priceline for a car out of Tampa (not even Orlando!!). The highest I went was $25 a day, was STILL rejected, so I gave up at that point. :sad2:

I was able to reserve a car through Dollar for $292 (incl all taxes and fees), which is still a lot more than I wanted to pay. :headache: But that was the cheapest I could find.

Well I checked prices again today for Oct 1-10 and they are triple what they were 2 weeks ago. The coupon is working again but the prices are crazy ($439 for a midsize). I still have my ressie for a fullsize for $168 so I guess I'm sticking with that!

SaraJayne - if you are going in October you are still way too early for Priceline. You are better off waiting until 2 weeks out to get what you want out of them.

I am still waiting patiently (ok, impatiently!) for rates to come down too! I am 4 weeks out. Fingers crossed.

I am. October 23rd is my pick up date.

Thanks for the tip. :)

I am still having trouble applying coupons to rentals in October, it says coupon not accepted. It is the same one I have used before and it worked, I am just trying to add another day.
My original ressie is 227. when I modify it for 14 hours earlier it is 100 more and doesn't accept the coupon. :scared1:
Something is not right here.:confused3

I have a midsize car reserved through Alamo for October 2-5. I used one of the Costco codes, and it's going to be $114. :thumbsup2

You all seem to be getting better rates than me. I booked for early Oct back in July for $1200! By calling National every day this week I'm down to $607. Still too high IMO. How do I get it down. I have Emerald Club and have used codes from MOusesavers. Would like to pay much less. Any advice.:confused3

Try priceline. I just got a midsize for $13 a day for 14 days (10/2-10/16) for a total of $277. That's taxes and everything.:banana: The best I had before that was $367 with Alamo using a $40 coupon and the visa code. The priceline rental is also with Alamo. Good luck:cheer2::cheer2:

SAME HERE!!! :confused3:eek:

I agree, prices are crazy right now. I'm so glad I snagged some acceptable rates recently. But I still watch to see if anything can beat the rates I currently am holding.

(typos -- I've got to stop posting too early in the morning!! Esp. before coffee)

Thanks for the tip. I tried priceline a couple of days ago with no luck. Just tried again and got economy for 8 days picking up in Tampa, dropping off at MCO 8/14-8/22 for $156 total. That is 1/2 the price of my lowest quote. It is with National. :cool1::cool1::cool1:

OK, what's your secret? I just tried $13/day before tax & fees with Priceline for 13 days (10/7-10/20) and got rejected. They said $25/day was a more reasonable price to try...

What are your dates? You may be too far out for it to get accepted.

Did you select economy? I selected economy for $13 per day, but once my bid was accepted they gave me an offer to upgrade to an intermediate for $2 more per day.
