October 2009 Code Watch!!

FYI......

Got this e-mail from my TA last night...

Good evening. I just wanted to let you know that Walt Disney World is expected to announce a Free dining promotion on March 30. The dates of the promotion are August 16- October 3, 2009. This would be with the basic dining plan. You would need to book at least a 3 night stay with at least a one day base ticket to take advantage of this offer.

Got this e-mail from my TA last night...

My TA sent me this news as well, and is adding it on for us Monday morning. Our trip is 10/2 - 10/10 so I thought I would only get the free dining for the first two days of our trip. However, she said that as long as your stay STARTS by Oct 3, consists of at least a 3 night stay with at least a one day base ticket, then the free dining would be applied to the ENTIRE length of your stay.

I really hope this is true, as it will knock several hundred dollars off our trip!

Yes this is true, I check in October 2 and stay through the 9th and I got the Visa deal free dining and it knocked $601 off my trip!!!

How was the weather when you went in Oct? We're debating taking a late Sept/early Oct trip, but I just know it's going to be sweltering. :headache: DH wants to go to a water park one day, but with 2 little kids, I just don't want to deal with being hot and miserable all day!

October sounds Fallish to me, but from what I've read, it's still HOT!

oh we won't go any other time of the year but October!! :thumbsup2 We love it! We've been there in October in 2005, 2006, 2007 and now this year. We found it to be perfect weather, still able to swim during the day and maybe wear a light sweater at night. (I'm always cold :goodvibes)
Not only is the weather nice, but the crowds are low. I remember in 2006 we wanted to go to Epcot Extra Magic Hours in the PM. We did and at one point we were the only people you could see in front and in back of us!!! At MNSSHP, they let us stay on BTMRR 3 times in a row because there was no line and this also happened on Goofy's Barnstormer.
The one thing we didn't like are the LOVE BUGS! They are everywhere!!! But we learned to deal with them!

That's good to know! So what are the temps during the day usually?

We have love bugs here too, so I can deal with that!

I hope I don't regret asking this- as I am terrified of bugs and spiders- but what the heck is a love bug?

LOL they're little flying black bugs that hatch twice a year. The are about the size of a fly, and when they hatch, they are EVERYWHERE! But they don't bite or anything, they're just more of a nuisance.

Just think of them as small black butterflies and you'll be OK! :rotfl:

They are these bugs that seem to 'mate' (hence the name love bug) in swarms in October.
I have some pics of them scattered at the bus stop at CSR i'll post it.

Also, every morning a leaf blower man would come and suck them up from the benches and bus stops thats how bad they were!!

They are more prevelent in late September, early October I think. We saw none on a late October trip we went on, but they were just starting on a late September trip (20th -26th)

We don't go until 10/25 so we miss out - bummer :( We did get a 40% off code though -so that's better than nothing. We do get the dining plan anyway - so free dining would be a better deal for us.

Here's a pic of them from my trip in 2006. All the black dots are love bugs!!!!!

I am a DVC Member and a disney visa card holder. I already have a room booked for Oct 19-23. Can I get free dinning with a room already booked and being a DVC Member ????? I am a visa card holder and a Annual Pass holder.

Hi, where did you see the 40% discount. did i miss something?

It was an email I received - one that isn't shareable (is that a word :confused3) so you didn't miss anything. It's very random who gets pin codes and for once I got lucky (doesn't happen real often) It would be worth calling the reservation number and seeing if you have a pincode under your name - I had done that first and I had one - but not for 40%, I got that email a few days later.
