We're thinking about going to WDW October 22th-29th ... we've never been in October before so I was wondering how are the crowds? ... what is the weather like? ... is this a good time to go to WDW? ... any and all advice would be greatly appreciated ... :thanks:

We are booking for October 20-28, and although we've been in October before, this is the latest we've gone, so I'm interested in these reponses as well.

In the past we've gone the first week or 2 of Oct. and the weather is great...80s in the day and 70s at night. The crowds weren't bad either. Love Oct!

October is my favorite time to go. The crowds are managable and the waits for rides reasonable. The weather is comfortable during the day requiring only a sweater at night. Although last year it DID rain quite a bit during the week I was there (10/27-11/1) There's Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party AND the Food and Wine Festival. I've done the MNSSHP three times now and enjoyed it for the festive night time athmosphere but I think I'll pass on it this year..it has become more crowded because Disney has expanded the number of limited tickets they sell.

Hope that helps...any questions..don't hesitate to ask.

We were just there during that time. Crowds were great!!!! Most waits between 5-20 minutes with some walk right on and a few 45 minutes here and there. We did get stuck with the Tropical storm Noel so our weather was not good for about 5 days Sat-Wed. Winds and rain with chillier temps, but it was great not having to worry about the burn from the sun, lol. We had a blast regardless and want to return the same week in '09.

The day we left the sun was shining and the weather was going to be in the mid-upper 70's and warm. It was going to be perfect swimming weather.

Go for it and enjoy!!

Uh oh, now I'm worried. We just made reservations for Oct 22 - 28, 2008. Is the weather typically really rainy and chilly (ie: no swimming during the day)? Last time we went early October and it was hot and sunny. Should we consider going later in October or perhaps November, for better weather? I'd hate to spend a week in cold rain?? :confused3

Thanks for any help.
Christy

We went the October 26-November 4th. My kids swam and enjoyed themselves. I got in the last day because it started heating up again. You cannot predict with hurricane season. Chances are you will have beautiful weather. I would go again that same exact week in a heartbeat. Like I mentioned before, the days before and after were really warm. It was just a freak thing. Go and have a magical time!

I'm also going in Oct....worried about hurricanes...
Oct-8 to16....is this a heavy rain season?
thanks
Kerri

My family and I are going from Oct.16th through the 22nd, and I've heard from other people that this is a great time to go. I hadn't really taken the hurricane possibility too seriously, but I'm starting to get a little worried  We were really hoping for warm weather since last trip (Jan. 07) we had gloves and hats and LAYERS of clothing on at night!

I am going to be there from oct. 12th - 17th, that monday is columbus day... does that effect the crowds? was this a bad time to go? i'm second guessing myself about the week we chose. can anyone give me so idea about the crowds?

We've gone for the Columbus Day weekend before, and this year are going later in the month (17th to 25th). Yes, Columbus Day weekend does impact the crowds -- it is busier because of the holiday -- but overall it is a lovely time to go and the increase in crowd level is relative (nothing like summer or major holiday crowds).

Weather is weather -- unpredictable with no guarantees. We've had gorgeous, sunny, warm days and cool nights in April, in October, and in December. We've had rain (October and December) but we've never been unable to use the pools during the day (and nothing beats the LOW crowds on rainy days!). The Accuweather site will give you historical data on weather if you want to check that out.

We'll be there the 3rd week in Oct. We love to go at that time of year. The MNSSHP and the F&WF are our favorite events. The crowds aren't bad, and the weather is wonderful.
Someone was worried about it being chilly at night. I can guarantee you'll be walking around in shorts even at night. It is usually dry in Oct. as well.
As for hurricanes, Wilma came in '05 just a few days before our stay at AKL in Oct. (On a side note, she was also one day after our wedding. Talk about stressful! :scared1: ) We didn't mind though---we were leaving a home that had lost power and going to a fabulous resort! (In that case, bring on the next one...;) )
I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about hurricanes though, as chances are, the weather will be great.

We're going the first week of Oct and I'm planning on weather similar to when we've been in May previous years.

That is warm to hot days (bu not oppresively August hot) and cool to warm nights, possible long pants at night but no sweaters about what NJ is like in September.

We've gone in October our last several trips. (We LOVE the F & W Festival)
Each year has been significantly busier than prior years. There are many events (F & W Fest, MNSSHP, Festival of the Masters etc) that draw in crowds. It is no longer walk on rides and value season like it was in the past. It is now considered Regular season. The crowd levels are moderate, with moderate lines - nothing as bas as summer and holiday periods, but not walk ons either.
Most years our weather has been great. Sunny and warm to hot days, and warm evenings, with a scattering of cooler evenings. Last year was an exception in that after our second day, it rained every day - not all day every day, but a fair amount. We were also there in 05 and left about 18 hours before Wilma hit. The few days before the storm were unbearably "tropical" very hot and very humid, as the air flow was tropical. I think the parks were only closed about 1/2 day for Wilma.

just remember that EPCOT is jam packed :crowded: on the weekends during F&WF (most resorts are booked solid, plus a lot of local come for the festival). make other park or off-site plans for then :)

I am going Columbus Day week too. I heard the weather is great - mid 80's. I am not worried about the weather. We have been late Sept before and it never rained once.

I picked October b/c I hear the crowds are very low. I was told it was one of the best times to go. Still hot and not crowded.:thumbsup2
