I got a 40% pin code when I called this evening for Oct. 25-Nov1st.

Lucky!!! Those are our exact dates but no code attached to our name!

Seashell, You can book through the AAA website if you want the room only but if you want the dining/tickets package then you need to call AAA.

Looks like the first 2 weeks of Oct are school fall breaks. How are the crowd levels during this time? We went middle of Sept last year and low crowd levels. We are wondering if it is worth going during fall break or later in Oct.

Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy,

This will be our 4th year going the first week of October. I really think it an awesome time to go. It may a bit busier than the middle of September due to the Food and Wine Festival and the Halloween Party, but that is why we like to go. It is definitely manageable. Keep in mind that Columbus Day falls on 10/13, so the weekend before, crowds may be a bit heavier, although someone else may be able to verify that for sure.

On another note, the first two weeks of Oct are currently discountless. The discounts do not pick up again until 10/19. I have free dining currently, checking in on 9/25, but am looking to see if something else comes up.

We will be arriving on the 13th and think its going to be pretty busy that week cause more than likely some schools will be having their fall breaks that week huh?

This is actually the date I planned on arriving in Disney, but I haven't seen anything, anywhere about discounts during this time.

Would you mind pointing me in the direction where you got this information from please and thank you?

Also, Hi.

First things first! :welcome: to the DIS!!!!

If you look at the thread topics referring to 20% discount, 30% discount, and 40% discount, pins, emails and snail mail. There are a TON of them and they can not be missed. These discounts appear to all be falling under the same travel dates. Nobody is quite sure what triggers the discounts and who or why people get them, but alot of people are getting them. It appears that possibly ordering a WDW vacation DVD off the disneyworld.com website might be triggering some.

Here is some pixie dust! I hope you get one!!! pixiedust:

I am not sure. I am always home by Columbus Day. Hopefully someone can help you answer this or you can do a search of the board for Columbus Day week and see if something pops.

Honestly, though, October is a wonderful time of year to go.:thumbsup2

I agree about October, but the later in the month, the better. A lot of Florida schools are out the week of Columbus Day. Over at Universal, this week is known as "hell week" as it's Halloween Horror Nights event draws insanely huge crowds. Many of these guests spill over to Disney. Also, earlier in the month it is still really, really hot.

Sill, all in all it's a very good time of year to go.

How about the week before Colombus Day? We are going from Oct 8-13.

Unfortunately a lot of schools outside of Florida have a fall break that week. It is definitely manageable though, but you will need to do some advance planning. Specifically, you'll need to research best times to visit Epcot if you want to visit the Food and Wine Festival booths. Last year, the waits were really long and really hot during certain hours/days during that week. Also bear in mind that discount codes aren't valid until Oct. 19th, so Disney expects plenty of guests before then.

Still don't be discouraged. It's nothing like summer or holidays and the parks on the whole aren't too crowded, mostly the special events.

Got my code:yay: Well, not really but I can get about 40% off through connections with a Disney employee. Now I have to decide on my dates. It needs to include The Columbus day weekend to minimize missed school days. We have aways gone April/May, not that experienced with Oct. I'm wondering if crowds will be better the week leading up to Columbus day weekend or after?

Sadly it seems as if both weeks are plagued by school vacations. I was there last year the week of the 8th (which was columbus day and week) and it wasnt too bad; more crowed than I expected but not anything like most of my June-August trips. This year Im going the week of the 13th (which is columbus day and week as well) and Im thinking its going to be similar because it seems like most school vacations are spread throughout the month of October.

As to who said Disney isnt offering discounts untill the 19th? Can you inform us to where you got your information? Last year I got and stayed using a code for the week of the 8th which was columbus day/week. I belive it was a code could have been used anytime in the month of October.

I ordered a DVD off the Disney website a couple of weeks ago. I got an email today saying my DVD is on the way - will there be a code in the DVD? Will Disney have something attached to my name if I call them tonight?

I called a local AAA office today about quoting a Disney vacation - do I have to book through AAA to get that discount, or can I give the Disney agent my membership number? If I book through AAA and then I get one of these magical "codes," can I take advantage of the extra discount?

Are these codes just off the basic room, or does it include park tickets and meal plan?

HELP!!! I'm new at this!!! Too much information!!! Head exploding!!!

You probably won't get a code with your dvd, but now that you're in Disney's "system" you stand a better chance of getting a random one. I would make all my plans not expecting a code, and then count it as a bonus if you happen to get a code.

Also, you can use your AAA discount when booking with Disney, but only on the room portion. If I were you, I'd book through AAA and maximize any discounts you can get.

I was referring to the current pin codes floating around for 30/40% that you must receive by email/mail. The only dates I've heard of that are valid in October are Oct. 19th-Nov. 1st.

I too have received discounts earlier in the month. I just haven't heard of any for this year yet.

I took a chance and called Disney directly last night, just to see if a phone quote would match the online quote. Turns out, I had a 30% code attached to my name!! The only down side is that we are going to be there 10/30-11/04, and the code is only good on the October nights. Still not bad!!

We are not current members of AAA, but I was going to join if the savings were significant enough. If the AAA discount is only 20% off the room, then after joining the savings would actually be the same as the discount Disney offered me last night.

For some reason, I just feel better about booking directly through Disney.

Thanks for the help!!:thumbsup2

Disney isn't offering discounts "yet" for the first 18 days of October. Never say never. :thumbsup2

Can you tell me what discount you had last year? Wish it would be 40% I might have to change my dates.

I think its was either 20% or 30%. The more and more I think of it I belive it was a Disney Visa Card Holder discount. Anyone else get a discount last year the week of columbus day?
