I haven't looked at any schedules or anything yet, where did you find it at? Of all the videos I've seen, that big blue KLM is the one that sticks out in my head. No matter to me, a 340 will work too :thumbsup2

Went on the KLM website and searched flights to SXM. Big Blue may be a thing of the past. The KLM website gives info about Air France now. They are all fun to watch. I hung out at the Sunset Beach Bar back in 2009. Topless women drink for free and the planes are fun to watch too.

Are there any vegetarians on board ...... wondering if the selection for us is worthwhile,.......

Regarding meals it depends on which vegetarian "level" you desire.
Don't hesitate to call DCL to inquire about options/alternative meals. Did you place this info on your ressie with DCL?

Sounds like I might miss the planes

So, perhaps my six year old could also receive free drinks? :lmao:

RE: SXM
I'm there whenever you say the heavy metal is approaching SXM. Please keep us posted. I plan on a Bernard's Tour, which I trust would know the schedule, as it's posted on the board at Sunset Bar, and they are there every other day. Keep in mind the posted internet scheduled arrival could be way behind the actual arrival. The bar would know the variable in frequency. You could always call them (the bar) for a first hand, eyewitness report, regarding times for the AFR A340. Can't wait. :woohoo:

I trust someone there will have internet access to the flightaware site for real time tracking. It would be unfortunate to wait around for a flight that was delayed two hours or cancelled.

I've read reports of vehicle traffic on St Maarten, and a bridge or something that creates a bottle neck in the afternoon getting back to port. Is Maho on the DCL side?, it would be unfortunate to miss our ship's departure for wide body tin, especially if it fails to show. Well, maybe... I suppose there are worse places to be marooned. :lmao: :goodvibes

Good News Found on the KLM site that the 747 is scheduled to arrive at SXM at 11:20 AM on October 23 when we are there. Unfortunately that is kind of early. I'm diving then. Oh well AA and USair also have good flights to watch as well.

The traffic in October is not too bad in St. Maarten. If you miss the ship, it is a short flight to St. Thomas. The draw bridge is between the airport and the ship. It usually only goes up twice a day. once in the morning once in the afternoon. If I miss the ship, time for another drink.:hourglass

Of course!

So, Secret Mickey is a one on one gift exchange! When you sign up, you are given the name, gender, age and a little info on your Secret Mickey Pal. Their favorite Disney character, favorite color, hobbies, favorite thIngs, etc.
There are 3 gifts that get exchanged. The first 2 can be given whenever you choose, usually by having their stateroom Host put it in the room so it's waiting for them. The 3rd and final gift is given at the Secret Mickey Meet on Friday, when you reveal to your Secret Mickey who you are! There is a limit of $20-$30 total for all 3 gifts given also.
Hope that covers it, and PLeASE let me know if anyone wants to participate! It's a lot of fun. Last cruise, my son got a coloring set, a Lego, and a Buzz Lightyear beach towel! He was sooo excited!

This sounds like fun!! I did the FE once. it was alot of fun. I am not craftly so it was very stressful trying to figure out what to bring.

Secret Mickey sounds more my speed.

Thanks for doing this.

^^^ My thoughts exactly! I know the FE is really fun for a lot of people, but I'd never be able to talk Von into it! haha This is a good way to have some fun and surprises with a little less commitment. I also like that I'll have a clue as to what my secret mickey likes!

Hi there fellow cruisers! I can't remember if I introduced ourselves here or not, but here goes! My DH and I are first time cruisers, very much looking forward to our cruise. We are from Massachusetts, living in America's Hometown - Plymouth. My DH is retired from the USMC, and now enjoying his second career.
I teach Pre-K, which keeps me young! ;) We are SO excited about ths cruise! We share a photography hobby, and like to go out and shoot just about anywhere!
I am on the Dis constantly, and am learning a lt about cruising. I think I need a twelve step program for the Dis! ;) I look forward to meeting some of you, but am unsure where or when. This thread is a bit intimidating to newbies like us, it seems so many of you know each other from previous cruises. BUT, here I am, jumping in and saying hello! Hope to be meeting some of you!? :)

Hello ScrappinGran Glad to hear there will be another photographer or two on board. I take thousands. One or two come out good. Patti and I are travelling with 3 other couples, but don't be shy jump right in. We will be on the highest deck taking pictures of the NASA Vehicle Assembly Building as we leave Port Canaveral. My little tradition as this is my 4th cruise from Port Canaveral. Cya on the cruise. Being from Mass, I am guessing that you do not scuba dive or am I wrong. I am looking for divers to fill a small boat.

Ever been to St. Maarten before?

Welcome, just jump right in. We were all like you newbies at one time!!
My DH is also retired from the Air Force working on his second career as a computer geek. He is also from mass. Unfortunately:goodvibes you will find a few Red Sox and Patriot fans here:rotfl: I am from NY so you know I am a Yankee & Giant fan. See how well we all get along:rotfl2:

We look forward to meeting everyone also!!

Von and I are newbies, too! There are plenty of us. But the repeat cruisers are all very friendly and welcoming! :grouphug: Actually, I've been on about 30 Disney cruises, but only as a staff member, this is my first time cruising Disney for fun! We're getting close enough now that I can really taste it!! :hourglass

Welcome!:wave2:

Glad you decided to pop in here on the cruise meet thread.

DH and I are both retired, travel without children, are DVC members and this is our 6th Disney cruise. We are traveling with friends, but always enjoy meeting other Dissers here and in the parks or on the ship.

Look forward to meeting you.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I don't feel so intimidated anymore, now that I see there are other newbies here also. Beachcat, sorry, we do not scuba dive, but we too take LOTS of pictures! And no, we have never been to St. Maarten. We ARE interested in going to an excursion to St. John, as opposed to St. Thomas, for pictures! Not sure which excursion.
JOANNEL, yup, we are avid Red Sox and Pats fans, but I promise not to use the term Evil Empire when near you, if you don't mention Eli Manning! :rolleyes1
Sam and Joan, we are DVC owners also, which you can probably see on my screen name, and we look forward to meeting you also. :)
Is there a Facebook Group/page for our cruise? I see that some cruisers have them set up for their specific cruises.
Is everyone meeting somewhere? So NEW at cruising!!!

We too own DVC. That's how we met our cruising buddies. We met on the members cruise in 2007 & 2008. After that I talked them into a 7 day, and we have done one a year ever since!!

Hi there, you sound to young to be Granny so I need your real name LOL

The whole point of these threads are to make friends before you get on the ship so don't worry that you don't know anyone yet. I also don't know anyone here in person yet but feel like friendships have started with several. Many of us have cruised DCL more than once so please ask any questions you have and we will help you out as much as we can.

You will never find me without a camera, ever! It is my passion. My toys include a Olympus E3, Canon G9, and a baby P/S. One is with me always :) I just yesterday received my new Mirrorless camera from that nice brown truck, a Oly OMD-E5 and have the battery charging now. Can't wait to see what we can do with it.

We have facebook page as well so if you wish send me a private message with a link to your FB and I will send you a friend request and then add you to the private page. No secrets or anything there, just another way to get to know people, in a different way.

Looking forward to our cruise...17 weeks from today we sail!!
