It's amazing how mean people can get. It was scary and I think the captain should not have taken us there. But he knew we were safe just didn't realize how bad it would be. We didn't expect any discounts but sure did appreciate it.

This was our eleventh Disney cruise and the first really rough one. Some people did sleep through it. I wish I would have!!!

We still had a great cruise, didn't meet as many of you as I would have liked.

Hope we all cruise again together!!!

Yes, I saw this, posted my HO and will NOT be going back. I refuse to lower myself and put people in their place. It saddens me that Disers are down right rude and snarky and pretend to be All Knowing about everything and anything. I can't believe some of the comments. Prepare to get upset of you read through the pages.... And there's also one about our 25% discount. WOW, people start something out of nothing these days. Blasting us for getting a goodwill gesture and saying that we should have gotten nothing. Okay, okay. Really... We didn't ask for it, but people are acting like we put up such a fuss, that DCL was backed into a corner and had no choice. C'mon... Anything thatbDCL does at this point will NOT change some people's opinion, but it was a smart decision on their part to try to salvage some cruisers from never setting foot on a DCL,ship, again. It's going to take me a while....

Glad we're all ok, and hope everyone can put this behind them in their own time. :wave2:

I know that we did not complain, but appreciate the 25% discount.

I dare anybody out there that is talking trash, to have been on that cruise. It was crazy. I met people afterwards that had sailed 8 times with DCL and said that they would NEVER sail again after that experience. I am glad that the Captain and Crew safely returned us to Port Canaveral. It was a trip to write home about. We will definitely sail again. Thanks everybody for the memories!!!!

This pretty well sums it up for us. It was only our fourth cruise but we've never experienced anything like Sandy before. We didn't expect any kind of compensation but appreciate and will use it nonetheless.

We were fortunate that neither of us had any motion sickness issues during the storm ... we were actually kind of fascinated by it, especially during the day. Having said that, when we started pitching late Friday night and early Saturday morning I did have some EEEK moments and started to get scared. My husband and I both were able to get some sleep, however, during the "calmer" moments ... I think being midship probably helped.

I am reading some things that have me puzzled though ... reports of Cabanas not offering a full breakfast and people not being able to find anything to drink ... anyone else have this happen?

We were up at Cove Cafe around 7AM and full coffee service was available ... we both had our usual lattes. I also saw plenty of adults wandering around with red cups from Cabanas / drink station with lids on them and can only assume it was coffee. We also went to Cabanas for some food and there was indeed a full buffet ... fruit, pastries, eggs, waffles, bacon ... and this was about 7:15AM. Maybe the person whose account I read got there late ... :confused3

The crew was also handing out free bottled water in the atrium while people were waiting for the ship to be cleared by customs.

I do think Saturday morning's disembarkation cattle call could have been handled much better, but it was pretty obvious when we finally left our stateroom that the crew had lost control of the situation in the atrium.

Hugs to those of you who obviously had a much worse experience than we did ... very sorry that your time with DCL was anything less than wonderful.

Enjoyed meeting some of you last week - hope our paths cross again some day. Congrats to Eva & Von ... and thanks for sharing that video! BTW, Von, Jason said you are his kind of beer people! :goodvibes

We saw full breakfast in cabanas too. I even read lunch was offered.:confused We got off around 1:30, so I guess that makes sense.:confused3

Some of the drink stations were acting up Sat. am, including port side pool deck. The ice was the problem for me. Starboard side pool had a glacier forming from all the ice under dispenser. After failing to find a machine that dispensed ice. I returned to the glacier for a scoop. I found soda functioning at starboard side glacier unit too.

Schools, and US Govt. offices closed today in at least a 50 mile radius around D.C. They are calling Sandy a "super storm" The shelves in the grocery were 1/2 empty last night. No water on shelves. No gas a station.

Oh my. Round two here we go. :sad2:

Oh man, it really sucks that you guys (people who live in the northeast) had to deal with Sandy on the Fantasy, and now again when you get home, maybe more so now. Stay safe everyone.

We ate lunch before we got off the boat. I don't think Cabanas was serving lunch but the area with Luigi's pizza, wraps, burgers, fruit, etc. was open for lunch. The ice wasn't working for us either, but no problems getting a drink.

So did I read tweaked/new shirts are already planned?

My thoughts. Perhaps if they still have the template/ I like the front we have/ Just add something on back/ "Fantasy and Nightmare" , "Rocking and Rolling on the Fall Fantasy" , "Survived Sandy on the Fall Fantasy", etc.

We ate at Flo's as well, I'm guessing that it was their normal time to be open. At first, the drink fountains appeared to be down. No ice and the sodas were just syrup and water, no carbonation. After a bit, one of the crew members was able to get the sodas to work, but still no ice. I did not go to the other side to see Bear's glacier though. :)

Welcome back, Everyone.

Boy, was that a rock n' rolling g9ood time that we had? I hope that everyone was safe and without injury and that folks made it home safely.

I haven't had a chance yet to catch up on this thread yet, but I for one, had a wonderful time, even that last night. My main concern was for my mother. But as it turned out she was fine, if not just a bit scared. She even managed the flight out without the terrifying fear that she had coming, thanks to the rocky night before.

I don't know what everyone else's thoughts and opinions are, but I think that Disney's 25% discount offer was very generous, gracious and very unexpected. I mean, I know Disney can do some magical things, but I don't believe that have mastered controlling the weather yet.

I want to thank everyone who participated in the Fish Extender Gift Exchange and to thank everyone for the wonderful and thoughtful gifts. There are quite a few creative folks on this thread.

And I would like to apologize for any errors, mistakes or corrections that were made. Some of you were really great about contacting me with the corrections to be made. I just hope that I was able to convey those corrections to those involved in a timely manner.

Finally, it was great meeting those of who I did meet. It is always fun to go around the ship and spot a familiar face.

Now, I will take a moment to catch up.

We just got home at 11pm last night! What a long drive. I can't believe I let my DH talk me into driving  :rolleyes2

Thank you again Brenda for all of your work that went into the FE. We received so much more than we assumed we would. And received awesome items!! :goodvibes

I think we're the only cabin who didn't label who the gifts were from! We were the ones who made the bottle cap magnets, had the small dog tags/zipper pulls, and mickey key rings. We also gave out Runts, Gobstoppers to most cabins.

We for sure had ups and downs before even getting on the ship.
the biggest 'down' was this.

We stayed at Pop Century Thursday night. On Friday around 4pm while in Cocoa Beach we realized we lost our big clear plastic envelope with the luggage tags, port check in form, travel and medical insurance, reservation numbers for hotels etc. We figured the only place it could be is at POP!! I lost it. I mean tears where majorly flowing. Couldn't get an answer from calling Pop Century to see if it was there. We ended up driving all the way back to Pop from Cocoa Beach on the chance it would be there. While at the front counter asking about our lost package, we saw it sitting on the desk behind the front desk. We were thrilled it was there, but the manager said, "Oh, it was there last night", it was left on the counter"

We were very happy to have it back in our hands but while travelling back to Cocoa Beach we found ourselves getting upset. WHY WHY why would they not have contacted our room to let us know it was there. I mean, the POP reservation number was right on front, through the clear plastic you could see the DCL check in form. They could have called our room and let us know it was there and saved us a lot of stress.

My DH wants to call Disney and tell them about what happened.

Another thing that happened right after realizing our info was lost. We checked into Best Western at Cocoa Beach. My kids were sitting on the bed and noticed bugs/ants on the wall. There wasn't a few but quite a bit! We quickly got out of there and checked out. I said I do NOT want another room, plus I was already upset because I knew we had to drive all the way back to Pop Century so I was crying at the time. Girl at the front desk called someone and said "code 5" in room ### She said they were probably "just" sugar ant's"
We ended up staying at Country Inn and Suites and that was much much nicer! We will for sure stay there again!

I am so glad all of you made it back safely. I hope everyone in my FE group got the message that we had to cancel at the very last minute (Thursday) due to a death in the family. I hope this didn't cause to many problems :(

Julie, I am terribly sorry for your loss. I didn't hear about this until now, but noticed that quite a few others did and were able to help regarding the FE. Don't worry about it. Everyone understands. Hopefully, you will be able to cruise sometime soon.

And a big congratulations to Eva and Von. Von I was at BINGO when you won your prize. I think Jared won that same day and time as well. At least some of us won a few things.
