Welcome on board.

Michelle, I read your trip report. For some reason it is in the completed trip report section and I cannot reply. I had no realized that you ended up staying at WDW for four nights. The last time we spoke about this, you were still thinking in terms of 2 nights WDW and 2 nights Tampa.

It was fantastic that the girls managed to visit the cockpit. I finally got to do this two weeks ago when I was able to tour one of our A380s.

It was a shame so that not only did you not get to stay at Pop, but then were moved again.

Did they have the Disney parks Dooney and Burke wristlets at the airport? I am trying to get my hands on a green wristlet for my Secret Mickey. I am not sure if they will have them at Animal Kingdom Lodge and I won't have time to get to Downtown Disney, but should have some time at the airport before getting on the DCL shuttle on January 6th.

I have today and tomorrow off and will finally get around to doing my Christmas shopping. I am going to get Graham as waterproof camera and hopefully a new carry on. I have to buy a couple of little things for some friends, but that should not be too difficult.

I have finally got my magnets for my Panama Cana; cruise finished. The next project is the Fish Extender gifts, but I am still waiting on a few components for this one. Everything should be here by Christmas and I am going to snuggle up, watching some old films and work on them then.

I also have 4 days off around New Year. It is kind of ironic, I am back at work on January 4th and then I am on vacation from January 5th. I find it hard to believe that in 3 weeks, I will be on a plane heading for Florida and will be on the Wonder a day after that.

Anyway, traditionally I have always cooked us a 5 course meal on New Year's Eve. I have not done this since we lived in Manchester as I had to work most years and last year we were in Dubai for Christmas and New Year. I have decided to do it again this year, but with a twist. I am hoping to do with dishes that are served on the ship. Having said that, I might have to cheat for the soup course. I am so tempted to try making the Cheddar Cheese Soup from Le Cellier, but hey, it is Disney after all. I also located a website that sells Rosa Regale so we will toast in the new year with this.

I was going to reply yesterday that I don't foresee another update on the Vow Renewal Planning Journal until I am back from our Panama Canal Cruise as I did not think there would be anything to report until then. Today I got an email letting me know that my dress has shipped. So hopefully that will arrive sometime next week and I can post some photos then.

I have now subscribed to the new thread. I am really enjoying your trip report. I need to get my backside into gear and finish mine. In 3 weeks I will already be on the next cruise and I really need to get the last trip report finished by then.

I am sorry that I missed you on Facebook yesterday. I was away from the computer cooking and eating dinner.

Corinna

Corinna--sorry I missed you on FB too! So the PC cruise ends in the San Pedro Port rt? So you will gain some info for us??:goodvibes

Today I have accomplished wrapping TONS and TONS of Xmas gifts and I still have a tote more to go!! I guess I should stop shopping..:rotfl:

After Christmas I plan on making some FE's. I want to get a decent amount made before May...after that I will be working and I don't want any pressure making them!!

Well off to lunch with a friend....TTFN

Yes, the Panama Canal Cruise ends in San Petro. As we arrive there at 9:30 AM and our flight does not leave until 6:30 PM, I am not in a great deal of rush so I should have time for some research.

I have my Christmas shopping pretty much sorted out. I actually only bought one item locally and the rest online. I have to wrap the gift that I already got. This was one of the jobs that I was hoping to do today, but playing Epic Mickey proved to be too tempting.

I am a little worried about one of the gifts I ordered online. I got Graham a waterproof digital camera as we are going to do quite a few water-based activities on the Panama Canal Cruise. The estimated delivery date is December 24th. Talk about cutting it close. I had bought a bundle of the camera and a memory card. I thought my luck was in when I had a dispatch notice from Amazon yesterday. However, it was just the memory card. The camera will be dispatched separately.

I think I have my Fish Extender gifts pretty much sorted out. I have an idea for a cabin gift and for gifts for the ladies and girls. It is just the boys and gentlemen that are giving me a bit of a headache at the moment. I am sure I will come up with something in due course.

Corinna

Corinna----Graham is gonna love the gift!! U wrote out the gift, doesn't he lurk on here anymore???:confused3
Well getting laundry done today. :laundy: Still have a family of presents to get done. Sunday after church ,I am hoping to go print some pics for a Christmas gift. I am also gonna have some magnets printed while I am there. and make Nelia a journal for the cruise. Her teacher next yr requires a vacation journal.
I found some CHEAP air $700 r/t for the 4 of us!! Hoping it's still there after the 1st of the yr , then I will book it. We have booked the Doubletree at the port for our stay at least the nt before. It seems like a nice hotel and they have complimentary shuttle to the port. Doesn't seem like there are any rental car companies that will shuttle. It seems since I think there will be 8 of us going that I can get a super shuttle by ourselves for $80...not bad. Just have to decide what I am gonna do out there!!

Anyone else find out any LA info???

Ok So I think we have decided to stay Friday night at DL (or a hotel around there). We think we will do DL on Sat, hopefully their version of MNSSHP. Just trying to find a good deal on a room. Would love to stay at DL but a little pricey for what I wanna spend. Thought about using priceline but that scares me too...LOL Any advice or thoughts?

I am sure I will see you in DL on Saturday Michelle. I just wont know the logistics til after Christmas. Cant think about this cruise until then.:sad1:

Not much new here. Getting ready to run to the mall. I gotta get my son a couple more things. My girls are all done. I kinda will be glad when Christmas is over...It's alot of work!!!!:upsidedow

Graham has not been on the DIS in about 18 months so I am safe to post what I please. For him it is just to fast moving. He tends to hang out on a UK based Florida forum. I am also a member there, but I tend to spend more time on here.

Hopefully a few of us will meet up at DL on that Saturday. We will hopefuly arrive in California on Thursday and I am planning to spend Friday and Saturday at Disneyland also we might need to hit the Brea Mall on the Friday instead.

Michelle, what is your budget for the hotel? We have stayed near Disneyland three times now and have a fair idea of the lay of the land.

I had an interesting day at work yesterday. A lot of the UK airports are closed because of snow. We have aircrafts and customers bound for the UK stranded all over Europe. After 6 PM I was the only supervisor on duty yesterday. Today I will be on my own after 3:30 PM and we were also scheduled to get a system upgrade this morning. I am not looking forward to work today.

On a more positive note, I got a gorgeous idea for another Fish Extender gift the other day. I ordered some of the supplies already. You guys will be so spoiled.

I hope we can meet up at Disneyland , that would be fun! Andrea and I had fun meeting at MK last yr before the cruise and saw Lisa there too!

As for hotel...well that kinda depends. My sister in law said they are going with for sure so right now I am looking for either a good deal on a suite or if I can get 2 standard rms connecting or next to each other. So I have 8 people which can be split into 2 groups of 4 if need be. I would prefer something close so we don't have to take the ART back & forth, ya know something just a few blocks to walk(thinking long walk late at night with tired kids)

Alright off to try and update my trip report before I forget!!:thumbsup2

OK so I went on the DCL website to check our cruise and at least it is back to appearing on the home page. Also went to check out the availability. Well here are my results.

Inside Staterooms
Caty 11B-- 4 rms on deck 6
Caty 11A- 5 on deck 7 and
3 rms on deck 6

Delux inside staterooms
caty 10c-- 8 on deck 2
caty 10b-- 8 on deck 2
caty 10a-- 5 on deck 7

Oceanview
caty 9d-08 on deck 1
caty 9c--8 on deck 2
caty 9b--1 on deck 2
caty 9a--5 on deck 7
3 on deck 6

Verandah rms
caty 6a---only a guaranteed rm
caty 5c-- 8 on deck 6
caty 5b-- 8 on deck 6
caty 5a--8 on deck 7

caty 4e-- 3 on deck 8
caty 4b-- 8 on deck 8
caty 4a- 8 on deck 8

Concierange(sp)
Caty 00T-- 8 on deck 8
caty 00S- one
caty 00R--one

Now I know there maybe rooms I can't see but those are the ones being offered when I ask to select a room.

So there at least 100 rooms left that I can see!!!!

Ok that's my knowledge for the night ...LOL

I looked around a bit. We have stayed at the Radisson Maingate before, which is now the Red Lion Inn. We liked this hotel. You can walk from there to Disneyland in about 15 minutes and they are also on the ART if you are tired at the end of the day. They only have rooms that sleep up to 4. They have a promotion at the moment that includes free breakfast, free parking and unlimited free transportation to Disneyland for $109.95 per room per night.

I found only one hotel that would sleep 8 and that is Homewood Suites Anaheim - Main Gate Area, which is about 1 mile from Disneyland and there is no indication that there is any transport to Disneyland. This would be $269 for a two bedroom suite and again includes breakfast as well as a complimentary Welcome Home reception serving a light meal with beverages, beer and wine.

The best deal that I have found is Castle Inn and Suites, which is across the street from the main entrance to Disneyland. Again, you would need two rooms and they are $88 per room per night (or $78 if you are AAA members).

The other option for large accommodations is the Grand Californian Villas. A two bedroom villa will sleep up to 9 and for the night in question would cost 56 points. It might just pay you to check out the DVC Rent and Trade board to check what people are renting out their points for. Owners at GCV can make reservations now.

I hope everyone has had a great time with their families over the Christmas period. I know I have. We have been little busy since coming back from Singapore and I have been busy at work. Hopefully today I can get some photos of Jetta (beagle) and Oscar (kitten) put up. I have been trying to stop the dog from killing the cat and the cat from attacking the kids.

I had to take down the tree because Jetta kept chasing Oscar straight up it. Thank goodness none of my Disney decorations broke until hubby tried to help put them away.

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday,
Becky:santa:

Merry Christmas!!!

So I may be popping in a little more frequently for the next few weeks because I booked a 3 day cruise on the DREAM for Marty for Christmas. We go in Feb and aren't taking the kids. I have mixed feelings about not taking the kids but we needed to check out the dream to be sure they would have fun on it before I booked it for everyone! LOL. Well, that's my story and I am sticking to it.

Looks like you had an eventful time recently. Did you manage to find a dress in Singapore?

Mindi, I am glad to see you around. I hope you will have a wonderful time on the Dream. I can't wait to hear all about it.

We had a wonderful Christmas. It was wonderful to have two days where it was just Graham and me, nothing to do other than what I wanted to and nowhere to go. I finished all my Fish Extender gifts for our next cruise and only just could stop myself ordering stuff for the Fish Extender gifts for our cruise. Now that I know what I am going to do, I just want to get started. I love the ideas that I came up with.

I made samples for two out of the three jewellery workshops that I will be running on the Panama Canal Cruise:

P1000088.jpg

P1000077.jpg

P1000076.jpg

P1000071.jpg

P1000090.jpg

I particularly love the bracelet. I thought this up for the kid's workshop. It is so simply, yet so effective. I wore the sample one to work today.

I have to remember to take a photo of the Fish Extender gift.

By the way, are people here interested in a Scavenger Hunt for our cruise? I should have plenty of time while I am on the Wonder to prepare this if there is interest. I can't believe that provided the weather cooperates, I will be on the Wonder in 10 days.

My dress for the vow renewal has arrived just before Christmas. Unfortunately Graham has been around ever since it arrived so I had no chance yet to try it on or to take photos, but it does look gorgeous. I will post photos when I come back from the cruise.

I am working on my trip report from the Transatlantic cruise at the moment. I kind of had lost interest in this for a while with everything else going on in my life. I have posted three days worth of trip report since yesterday. I will post the next installment tomorrow when I come back from work. I am determined to have this finished by the time I leave for the Panama Canal cruise.
